Great for wall street................

health savings accounts.... I have that but can't afford to put any savings in because I don't have any savings..... Not seen a raise in 5 years..........

Five House Republicans hope to add to Democrats' healthcare reform bill an amendment that would automatically enroll members of Congress in the public option program.

The effort, spearheaded by Reps. John Fleming (La.), Joe Wilson (S.C.), Wally Herger (Calif.), Phil Gingrey (Ga.) and Steve Scalise (La.), would bar lawmakers from participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, which they currently use for health insurance. Instead, members would have to rely on the Health Insurance Exchange and the public option plan House Democrats are proposing in their latest healthcare reform effort.
thehill.com

So far there are about 100 hundred Congressional repubs willing to give up their current plan and sign up for the new reform, any guesses how many congressional dems are willing to to the same? Gives a whole new meaning to the party of "no" imo.

Damn democrats stealing the GOPhers ideas...

We don't like our ideas.

The NOP

all of this would be over had medicare + been added to everyone.

end of issue.

because its just another ruse..
like the stimulus where now we find out that 300 billion is going OVERSEAS and some grant money to CHINA...
and when he tells coburn for instance...hey thats an interesting idea...and you believe this lying piece of shit, then you are the one being duped.

FOR INSTANCE>.only a lying hypocritical goddamn democrat can turn tort reform into a govt spending program to the tune of 20 something million dollars.

its bullshit and everyone knows it...

O'B alienates those who worked for him in as an alternative to Bushit. O'B sucks up to people who still won't end their obstructionism until he turns white. Shawn is spot on with medicare and Afka, as usual, has his head up his anus. herm

Eric Cannot immediately announced that this was not something that the Republics were willing to consider. Typical.

because its just another ruse..

A ruse?

The ruse is the NOPERS pretending like they are interested in actually passing ANY kind of Health Care Reform at all.

first ruse is tort reform

have you had a chance to see what he is doing on that issue..

a 23 million dollar study........oh yeah...thats a real drastic move on that subject now isnt it..

and he says that it doesnt matter anyway because he wants to use "SIMPLE MAJORITY"...when it was gop doing that shit, it was NUCLEAR OPTION....one more case of dems pandering to some voters and lying to the rest

I prefer my head up MY ass to my tongue planted firmly in the ass of the lying goddamn democrats./

AND anyone who is DUPED by this shit has thier tongue planted on obamas ass....AGAIN>...

Let's induce competition by removing state barriers and watch the prices come down...

In the mean time, if there are uncovered people who need coverage, let's try to help out through the Medicaide and Medicare.....

then, we'll see what we have to do next...in the mean time, don't spend the trillion plus dollars we don't have on this terrible idea.....

We can not and must not attempt to force people to buy health insurance...that's clearly unconstitutional, statist, and authoritarian....

When Enzi brought up health savings accounts and catastrophic insurance plans, Obama pointed out that members of Congress make $176,000 a year and would have an easier time saving $2700 a year than a family getting by on $40,000. *crickets*

Then by all means defend post #5 AU.

ah good one
thanks for the smile....because its almost time for my next exam and my doc is a beautifull 40 year old texas woman...if I had known there were lady docs that good looking I would have gotten my prostrate checked one month and a hernia the next..

I like the whole, "insurance companies should be able to compete across state lines" mentality. Unfortunately, instead of improving competition, the companies set up shop in lax states (e.g. credit card companies) and then say that it is cost-prohibitive to follow every state's law so states can't sue them for bad practices; only the ferderal government can (which it sledom does.) See www.pbs.org

Nice to see the President cherry-pick some Republican ideas to add into his Obamacare thing and expect applause for his "bipartisan" effort.

The basic bill has been fundamentally flawed from the beginning.

But his team, Nancy and Harry, as well as himself say so much time and effort has gone into their monstrosity creation that the effort in and of itself deems it worthy of passage. This is a good example of the majority's inability to govern because it is so ideologically driven and so void of recognizing reality.

I think that would happen, unless there was some sort of federal role, this being now interstate commerce, in setting acceptable minimum standards...it works for car insurance...

and I accept it with most gratitude because I HATE THE BASTARDS and what they are trying to do to this country and look forward to november 2, 2010 with every passing day as that could mean the republic will be saved after all
UNLESS the gop decides that they too can rape the american taxpayer and then they run the risk of my "IRE".....

its time for americans to step up and return the constitution as the document that made us the greatest and the richest.

yes it does work for car insurance doesnt it.,. just saw that my last payment was deducted and it was a lot less than if I was FORCED into a company in texas possibly than the independent agent who shopped it around...

Three good ideas, versus dozens of bad ones.

If you have a bowl of ice cream, and you add five bowls of manure, it'll probably taste more like the latter than the former.

This is a president that I completely have no trust in---this guy speaks with a forked tongue. You can't trust what he says---watch the actions.

#27 | Posted by jonryker

The thing is that car insurance isn't like health insurance. They won't deny coverage if your car had previously been in a car accident and you get in another one or say that it is "experimental" collission repair and refuse to cover it, among other things.

But, but, but...we heard that "The Republicans had NO ideas...had put forth no concepts...they were the party of NO..."

Hypocrisy, thy name is Obama, Pelosi, Reid and a slew of media and liberal people who declaimed the Republicans for "No ideas."

So far there are about 100 hundred Congressional repubs willing to go along with the stunt of saying they should be required to give up their current plan and sign up for the new reform

There, that's better.

"... its (sic) time for americans to ... return the constitution as the document that made us greatest and richest."

I have news for the babbler. We're neither greatest nor richest. Greatest went down the toilet as Nixon prolonged LBJ's war. Richest? Maybe before Dubya. Much of the world now is richer. The same idiots chant that we have the best health care may need to be reminded that by World Health Organization numbers, we're 37th. herm

we're 37th. herm

Got any current data, herm? That figure is 10 years old. Y'all don't have much faith your argument when you have to keep trotting out a 10 year old number, do you? LOL

Telling herm (truthfully) that his data is 10 years old makes me a dickhead? Fuck. What is it you have against people stating the truth, donnyboy? That's not exactly a flag I'd wave as proudly as you do.

#38 -- herm wasn't talking about longevity, zat. He was talking about where we rated in health care (a nebulously obtained figure at best, but since it's 10 years old, that's irrelevant) compared to the rest of the world.

As usual, you keep saying the same shit trying to pass it off as the truth.

It doesn't "werk" here, Docster.

honestly, I can't believe that you think we are as stupid you are...

"That figure is 10 years old. ""

That's a good point. With U.S. healthcare fubar a new survey would probably show a decline from that 37th ranking to 47th.

1) the House has to pass the CURRENT Senate bill which DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY of the Obama recommendations. To have them included the bill would need to be re-written (including adding the GOP suggestions) and REPASSED in the Senate - that is not happening

2) To do the "reconciliation" it has to be an active bill (remember this is not doing via Conference Comittee where the House and Senate bill would be merged and re-voted on)

3) This means that the House has to pass the bill WITHOUT the Obama recomendations or the GOP Add ons.

SOOO...is it any wonder that nobody in the GOP will support it. AND IT STILL INCLUDES the Lousiana purchase and the other speciality carve outs.

So basically Obama is a lying sack of shit that is betting on people being too stupid to understand how a bill gets passed and believe what he tells them - rather than what is written down ( which is EXACTLY what happen in the meeting last week)

If you go back and read the posts above you will see the liberals crying and saying " well he included the GOP postion but they STILL will not support it- which is typical of the GOP" without understanding the facts.

These are the same people to blame for the deficit and the massive spending our Idiot in Chief is doing to us...and who will be to blame when the massive inflation hit and we default on our loans - effectively ending America as the bastion of Freedom.

That's a good point. With U.S. healthcare fubar a new survey would probably show a decline from that 37th ranking to 47th.

Good point. It could also show an improvement, Mr glass-half-empty. Just because you live in a state that can't be managed, doesn't mean that every aspect of this country declines with you, dull. But I get it. If the number is one you want to see, 10 years old is fine. If you don't like it, you wouldn't cite or agree with it.

At any rate, I don't play the "could" game.

#35 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis

As President Obama aptly pointed out to Sen. Enzi, Congressmen make $176,000 a year plus all kinds of other perks. Easy to sock away $2750 a year for a medical savings account. A family of four getting by on $40,000 pre-tax income is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

BTW, $40,000 a year would mean a single wage earner making $20 an hour.

Wonder how many jobs pay that nowadays? Not many.

"Good point. It could also show an improvement"

Highly unlikely, since most everyone agrees that the healthcare system has gotten worse in the last 10 years, not better.

Good point. It could also show an improvement, Mr glass-half-empty. Posted by Goatman

Given the current economic situation, it would take quite a bit of imagination to think it might have gotten better as more people have to decide where to spend their money on healthcare or putting food on the table.

the entire 'health care process' is nothing more than corporate fraud.

nothing more than posturing for a corporate payoff.

Given the current economic situation, it would take quite a bit of imagination to think it might have gotten better as more people have to decide where to spend their money on healthcare or putting food on the table.

The quality of health care and the ability to pay for it are two different things. You may as well say that cars have gotten worse since fewer people can afford them.

Highly unlikely, since most everyone agrees that the healthcare system has gotten worse in the last 10 years, not better.

Ah, the "everyone agrees" retort. Always one of my favorites.

"Over the past decade, the annual cost of family coverage has risen 131% and the annual cost for single coverage is up 120%, according to Kaiser. In each of the past 10 years, insurance increases have outpaced inflation -- sometimes by as much as 11 percentage points."

money.cnn.com

BTW, in the last decade, inflation rose by 31.5%. So family coverage has outpaced inflation by a 4-to-1 ratio.

If that's not 'worse', I'd hate to see it.

""Over the past decade, the annual cost of family coverage has risen 131% and the annual cost for single coverage is up 120%, according to Kaiser. In each of the past 10 years, insurance increases have outpaced inflation -- sometimes by as much as 11 percentage points.""

Details, details.

I guess you have finally learned how to skip posts without killfiles, dull. Congratulations. You clearly did not read my #52 or you would not have stuck your foot so deeply into your mouth.

But hey, glad you are slowly learning to do something on your own instead of relying on someone else to do it for you. Congrats on that dull.

GOP members offer amendment to force Congress to participate in public option
By Tony Romm - 11/04/09 01:42 PM ET

Five House Republicans hope to add to Democrats' healthcare reform bill an amendment that would automatically enroll members of Congress in the public option program.

Republicans first offered an amendment that would require lawmakers to participate in the public plan when the House Energy and Commerce Committee considered H.R. 3200, the current healthcare bill's predecessor. Democrats defeated it, and the House ultimately abandoned the bill to which it was supposed to be attached.

To someone who lacks the common sense to understand that the ability to pay for a service is unrelated to the quality of that service, it may appear so.

YEAH!! Because getting HOSED by Insurance Companies is what America is all about!!!

They need to start over.

Get rid of exclusions by the insurance company
Risk pools
Buy across state lines
HSA
Tort Reform
Expand Medicare
Pay the doctors/hospitals more

And why not do what the states are doing--the ones that work and are not broke!

No gov't take over. No mandates, no taxes and no cuts to pay for another program.

Figure it out!

How dare you agree with our suggestions! We won't stand for it! - The Right

Well, I thought the pragmatic narcissistic side of Obummer was going to prevail but it looks like the ideologue personality is going to trump the pragmatic side---Obummer will still try to shove his idea of America down Americans' throats---this guy conned America and he desparately wants to do his thing before Nov. even while Rome burns. America sits on the edge of the abyss and he is trying to nudge it over with his arrogance.

Barry is an idiot. He said multiple times in interviews that reconciliation should not be used for this purpose. He lies like a criminal - oh wait, he is from Chicago, makes sense now

Alinsky taught that there are no ethics in acheiving what you want to acheive---you do everything possible or whatever it takes to accomplish your ends.

What's up? It is my understanding if the House passes the Senate Bill Verbatim all that then needs to happen is to send it to the President to sign into law!

No need for any form of Reconciliation on a bill both chambers agree on in total! So let's see just how stupid they think we are (it seems to be already known)!

President Obama can say anything, whatever he proposes must be placed into separate bill and sent through the process all over again! That will not be done, smoke and mirrors, that's all it is!

If the Democrats are dumb enough to pass the Senate Bill thinking it will be changed later, we are in for it! A new high in stupidity!

All we need is for them to run for re-election on a monstrosity that cannot/need not be changed!

'Trust me Mr/Mrs Congressperson, I'm your right honorable (?) Senator! I'll do it! Just TRUST ME!'

Shouldn't this say "Obama Lies Again No Surprise" instead?

Health care.. The down fall of the democratic party...... keeps pushing that health care.. America does not want it.. But yet we are going to get it. Because Dem's know better than the people. We the people don't know whats best for us...... Right Kleptocrats?

"He said multiple times in interviews that reconciliation should not be used for this purpose."

It is rather telling when he ragged on Cantor for bringing props into the Snowjob Summitt, but decided to have doctors flanking him in his plea for an up or down vote.
