The sad thing is that if we ever do have a real pandemic no one will pay attention and people will get very sick and even die.

Yep. The CDC starts around every August with a new dire prediction. Pass the research/vaccine subsidy money!

So, the CDC manufactures vaccines? Really??

If someone is going to refute the safety of vaccines or "document" some sort of fraud, it will be a legitimate scientist with credible evidence to back him up. Not a fucking idiot like Diablo.

If these escapees from the looney bin had any semblance of an education, they would understand that they have no evidence to support their babble. Instead, they latch on to the latest trendy conspiracy theory and defend it tooth and nail despite their overwhelming ignorance.

I look forward to a bit of entertainment once our resident moonbats stop muttering incoherently at the wall and leave the fetal position for their keyboard.

The press has been drooling for a hurricane for several years now. They needed a crisis and made the swine flu fit their bill.

Yes, because we all know how good, kind and honest our government and media are. And that is not even considering the numerous organizations that make a living sucking off the gov't teet and who have no obligation to be ethical or honest.

Yes, of course, we all need to just sit back and let our betters tell us what to do because we may get criticized if we step out of line or question authority.

Dumb-fuck!!

I see Zombieballs is babbeling on without reading the article again.

"Doctors and flu experts say the lull is unusual."

Zombieballs is just another way of saying Numbnuts.

Doctors and flu experts say the lull is unusual

Hardly evidence for deception... unless you're paranoid and completely fucking clueless.

The sad thing is that if we ever do have a real pandemic no one will pay attention and people will get very sick and even die.

The swine flu pandemic was real. Its spread was slowed by the effective spread of the swine flu vaccine and preventative information on things like hand washing and not coughing into your palm. The CDC was extremely effective here.

It's pretty rich for you to lament the possibility that a future pandemic will kill people because no one pays attention, since you (and others) are spreading misinformation.

Yes, of course, we all need to just sit back and let our betters tell us what to do because we may get criticized if we step out of line or question authority.

If you're going to "question authority" by disputing scientific knowledge, you had better bring some evidence and a rational mechanism to the table when you do so. That would also entail you actually knowing what the hell you're talking about. It is no coincidence that these swine flu conspiracy theories circulate only among the painfully stupid. If you cannot make valid scientific criticisms, you will never be anything more than an incompetent sideshow.

fraud
noun
1.
deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.

How exactly does the H1N1 pandemic fit that description? It happened, didn't it? The virus exists, doesn't it?

Here's a word for you, Diablo.

dishonest
adjective
1.
not honest; disposed to lie, cheat, or steal; not worthy of trust or belief

The press has been drooling for a hurricane for several years now. They needed a crisis and made the swine flu fit their bill.

This is absolutely true.

The problem though is that the blame falls on institutions such as the CDC who are in a damned if they do damned if they don't situation.

They release information to the press and get slammed because the press runs with it and sensationalizes it. If they don't give info to the press, you have the same dipshits slamming them again for not releasing information.

And that is not even considering the numerous organizations that make a living sucking off the gov't teet and who have no obligation to be ethical or honest.

It's funny that you automatically assume they're not, Lip.

BTW there is an obligation for the people at the CDC to be honest and ethical-they're jobs. There are many instances of scientific misconduct being dealt with harshly amongst peers (as it should be).

Yes, of course, we all need to just sit back and let our betters tell us what to do because we may get criticized if we step out of line or question authority.
Dumb-fuck!!

If you have intelligent questions, ask away.

However, don't be surprised if you ask a stupid question (they do exist contrary to popular belief) and get treated like a dumb ass.

It's pretty rich for you to lament the possibility that a future pandemic will kill people because no one pays attention, since you (and others) are spreading misinformation.

Nailed it.

The real problem though is that once their self-fulfilling prophesy comes true, it only encourages them to behave that way in the future.

They release information to the press and get slammed because the press runs with it and sensationalizes it. If they don't give info to the press, you have the same dipshits slamming them again for not releasing information.

A pretty nice catch-22...

They have an established record of blowing everything up out of proportion. It's a classic case of self-promotion that govermnent agencies are noted for.

Uh huh.

And it doesn't matter that it's the usual pants pisser types who are taking it way out of proportion?

I think of myself as rational.

I haven't been fear-mongered into believing anything about H1N1.

Those that I've met that have freaked out about it are either
a. the type that freak out over everything
b. don't know much, if anything, about virology or vaccines

They have an established record of blowing everything up out of proportion.

The CDC didn't blow it out of proportion. The definition of a pandemic has been constant for decades and the swine flu met that definition, so it took action according to the procedures it already had in place to deal with one.

The usual suspects. Funny how most of them are Paultards.

The CDC didn't blow it out of proportion.

I think by any objective measure it was blown out of proportion. Whether it was the media, the cdc, or whomever. Saying it was blown out of proportion seems to be pretty fucking accurate to me.

But hey, the anti-bacterial soap manufacturers make a killing, not to mention the print shops that made up those signs we see everywhere.

Thank god for the "pandemic" though. We all got to learn how to cough in our arms instead of our hands!

Due to the benefit of hindsight and not really understanding the entire topic to begin with.

What would you call it if not a "pandemic"?

Well of course due to hindsight. How does that make it any less true that it was over-blown?

They hyped the Swine Flu as if it were the plague. It wasn't nearly as widespread or nearly as fatal as the public was lead to believe.

What would I call it if not "pandemic"? How about swine flu?

Seeing as though it was not nearly as scary as the media and the government told us it was going to be means it was blown out of proportion. There's nothing controversial or false about the statement. It's as if you have a vested interest in disputing the obvious.

How does that make it any less true that it was over-blown?

Because it gives you the luxury of monday morning quarterbacking a situation that was much more serious and worrisome when it was actually occurring.

They hyped the Swine Flu as if it were the plague. It wasn't nearly as widespread or nearly as fatal as the public was lead to believe.

First, who's they?

Second, bullshit.

It spread across the globe in a matter of weeks and outcompeted seasonal flu variants within two months! That isn't trivial.

Third-I've said it many many times. There are numerous reasons besides mortality rates for why the introduction of a new virus into the human population is problematic and worrisome.

What would I call it if not "pandemic"? How about swine flu?

Apples and oranges.

It was a pandemic by the definition of the word whether you like it or not.

Seeing as though it was not nearly as scary as the media and the government told us it was going to be means it was blown out of proportion.

It wasn't as scary as you INTERPRETED it to be. It's not anyone else's fault that you (and many others) pissed their pants and are now embarrassed that they have piss all over themselves.

There's nothing controversial or false about the statement. It's as if you have a vested interest in disputing the obvious.

I readily admit the media did a shit job and definitely added to people's anxiety.

However, looking back on an event several months after the fact and realizing the prudent response at the time wasn't as necessary does not make it obvious.

You also can't discount whether or not the public health response had the desired effects and curbed the spread like it was supposed to.

...no one will pay attention and people will get very sick and even die.

Many people got sick and died this time. Not as many as would have died if we had done nothing.

World Health Organization (WHO): As of November 15, 2009, worldwide there have been more than 599,880 confirmed cases of pandemic influenza H1N1 2009 and 6567 deaths reported to WHO.

You are aware there ar around 36,000 flu related deaths each year in the US alone right?

I don't think the story here is that there was a report of a real virus out there. There was in fact a real virus.

And the story is not that the CDC and others did what they do every year to get prepared for the germ of the year.

And the story here is not that the knee-jerk ninnies were just pissing themselves worrying that this was the end of the world.

The story here is that this was only a diversion. It used to be easier for gov'ts and corporations to lie and manipulate people, but mass communication and the internet is making it tough for them these days.

It wasn't as scary as you INTERPRETED it to be. It's not anyone else's fault that you (and many others) pissed their pants ...

Correct. The information was available to help people assess the seriousness of the pandemic and whether or not to get vaccinated. If people are expecting the media not to be hysterical about health scares, they are going to be disappointed. But thanks to the web, there's plenty of non-hysterical information out there.

"The swine flu pandemic was real."

Rcade, if you actually read the linked article then all I can conclude is you suffer from invincible ignorance.

Diablo,

You still don't understand the meaning of the word pandemic, do you?

If you read the article and came to the conclusion it says the pandemic didn't happen, then all I can say is you suffer from selective reading and interpretation.

Diablo, read this and tell me precisely why the 2009 flu didn't meet the criteria for a pandemic.

Rcade, if you actually read the linked article then all I can conclude is you suffer from invincible ignorance.

Diablo is leaving out a more obvious (and far more accurate) conclusion... both he and the author of this article are uneducated blowhards who love to whine about things they do not even remotely comprehend.

You snuck that one in there. Do you really want to re-visit one of your largest overt blunders on the DR [pandemic level criterias]? You're already "credibility-less" [to coin a term] as it is.

invincible ignorance.

or willful disinfo, per the globalist bidding.

And the propaganda goes on....

New KY Swine Flu Propaganda Ad

A glib 33 second propaganda ad produced by the Kentucky Department for Public Health portrays skeptics of the swine flu vaccine as raving lunatics, despite the fact that the head of the Council of Europe's investigation into the 2009 outbreak labeled it "one of the greatest medical scandals of the century."

The commercial, which is entitled H1N1 Vaccine Myths,' features a group of office workers spewing ridiculous theories about the swine flu vaccine that have never been embraced by any vaccine skeptic, in an attempt to build a classic straw man and smear people who question the necessity for taking the shot as unstable lunatics.

The actors in the ad debate whether the H1N1 vaccine was "made from platypus milk," or whether it "makes you susceptible to hypnotic suggestion."

The clip ends by another actor in the ad stating, "It was made from secret alien technology found on the moon."

While the advertisement frames suspicion about the vaccine in the context of tin-foil hat wearing madness, in reality the swine flu pandemic has been denounced as a gargantuan hoax not by demented paranoid psychotics, but by the head of the Council of Europe's Sub-committee on Health, Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg, who as the chief of a major investigation into the H1N1 outbreak, labeled the case a "fake pandemic" manufactured by pharmaceutical companies in league with the WHO to make vast profits while endangering public health.

In a separate interview with Dr Wodarg, he labeled the pandemic, "One of the greatest medical scandals of the century."
