Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Gov. Rick Perry easily dispatched Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison to win the Republican nomination for Texas governor on Tuesday. Perry, Texas' longest-serving governor, had 51 percent of the vote compared to Hutchinson's 31 percent, with more than three-fourths of precincts reporting Tuesday night. He will face former Houston Mayor Bill White, who defeated six others on Tuesday to win the Democratic nomination.

"Run through the wire"?

dont get too excited..
good hair has the best campaign..
last couple of elections the saying is..
you vote for perry and then spend the next 4 years wondering why?
well a six billion dollar surplus is one reason

Why would anyone vote to put someone else in other than Perry when Texas is doing pretty darn well?

Please vote Mickey Fucking Mouse!

Why would anyone vote to put someone else in other than Perry when Texas is doing pretty darn well?

Texas may be doing pretty darn well but there are a lot of campaign issues that Perry trots out every 4 years and then completely ignores until the next election. Education and border security are just 2 issues. Maybe it's time to give someone else a shot at the governor's office and a chance to solve these problems - after all, Perry has been governor for, what, 10 years now?

Texas may be doing pretty darn well but there are a lot of campaign issues that Perry trots out every 4 years and then completely ignores until the next election.

see post 2 for confirmation.....

and perry has painted kay baily as a washington inisider and has been relentless attacking her yes vote on tarp..or was it stimilus..one of those...

and the other lady is a kook.

bar, you said 'Texas may be doing pretty darn well' so why would anyone want to fix that? You know the old saying, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

I am pretty certain that this sentiment is what will put good hair back into the governors office.
that and kay bailey really didnt turn out to be the oppenent that we all thought.

of course there is the general...hee hee...election..
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...................

well a six billion dollar surplus is one reason

So why did hairdo need 10 mill in socialist commie stimulus money to repair the governor's mansion? Sounds like the typical Republican-says one thing and does another.

and the other lady is a kook.

Sic transit gloria teabaggers?

and the other lady is a kook

how so?

she sounded like a kook when beck asked her if she was a truther and then on a local houston station they asked her to clarify and she started in again when the reporter asked for a yes or no and she said NO..she didnt believe it..
well that should have been the way she answered in the first place...and ever since her numbers have fallen....
so let me retract the kook comment.......
she even admitted that she wasnt ready to be governor but she would before she was sworn in,..I just couldnt support that..

AND MY VOTE WENT TO.................

sorry
its still a secret ballot...hee hee

an interview w/ glenn beck can make anyone sound like a kook. he's a huge phony and i don't trust him.

anyone outside the status quo is ready to be governor-- because they are outside the status quo

and i believe she suported a further investigation into 9-11 because there's alot of half-assed explanations. that's not kooky, but to a neoconservative wolf in sheep's clothing like beck it might be...

we need another jesse ventura-- someone who is outside the establishment getting into office.

someone who isn't bought and sold

and we need term limits for all governors and all senators and representatives to break the stranglehold of the "two-party" system

i'm all for a single 6 year presidential term
2 term maximum for senators
4 year maximum for representatives

a senator and rep can run a third time, but not for 3 consecutive terms-- they;d have to take a term off. same with president

Hutchison is out Perry is in. There's no state income tax in Texas, and they have a budget surplus. Meanwhile, other states with extremely high taxes are going bust. Small government works.

I heard Texas was considering letting the blacks vote soon.

Sniper - because, while Perry has done well with the budget issues and has successfully portrayed himself as a small-government pol, he has almost completely ignored other important issues like higher education and border security. He talks big on both these issues but has failed to deliver on both. He also likes to tout his small-government stance but has no problem trying to implement big-government ideals when they suit his and his donors' purposes (remember mandatory HPV Vaccine?) I just think it's time for a governor with a broader scope to be in the office.

That being said, it looks like Perry will win the primary unless Medina can steal enough votes to force a runoff. Even if a runoff occurs, Hutchinson will have her hands full as Perry definitely has the initiative.

Why would anyone vote to put someone else in other than Perry when Texas is doing pretty darn well?

Well, when you don't spend any money on education (and other such 'commie' plots) you tend to have a surplus.

A conservative State like Texas actually has no state income tax and yet still has a budget surplus. Lib states like California, New York, Michigan and Illinois are already taxing the shit out of their citizens and yet they are still bankrupt and looking for ways to steal money to balance their budgets. Way to go libs!!

"Well, when you don't spend any money on education (and other such 'commie' plots) you tend to have a surplus."

Breaking news: Texas ranks 50th among the states in percentage of residents that have a high school diploma. Oddly enough, they leap to 47th in SAT scores.

How much does the state take in from Oil?

We don't have a city income tax either. I don't know how much the state of Texas takes in from oil but we definetly need to drill baby drill. Oh, btw while libs are having wet dreams about green energy, West Texas has mile after mile of the biggest windmills I have ever seen.

Why would anyone vote to put someone else in other than Perry when Texas is doing pretty darn well?

...cause when the oil runs out all Texas will have to offer is goat ropers and rabies.

Ringmaster; where are you from and what does your community have to offer ?

...well, that and our tech sector

...and manufacturing sector

...and tourism sector

...and wind energy sector

...etc.

But don't worry, Cinnamon-Ring Master, you incandescently ignorant dipshit.

It'll be a long, long time before "the oil runs out".

i'm all for a single 6 year presidential term

My best scenario would be the Rule of 12.

12 yrs in city/town.(total)
12 yrs in County Gov.(total)
12 yrs in State Gov.(same as Fed)
12 yrs in Federal.

in the top spots..

2 Six year terms for Sen.

6 Two year terms for Rep.

3 Four terms for POTUS.

Any way you can arrive at 12 years is up to you, but once you've done your 12 years, go fuckin' home. If you've not reached you're goals by then, you failed.

This is a guideline for someone to do 48 years in public service. And by following it, it would be the only way anyone could truly be a career politician.

#30 | Posted by American1st

If you did that you would end up with a much inexperienced President (1.5 years) as we have now. Would you want Doctors be forced to retire after 12 years? Do not get me wrong, I hate career leaches Politicians, welfare reciepients, etc). But experience does count for something. It is a double edged sword.

Did not see last.

Nice idea, but I can not agree with a "Up or Out" scenerio.

32 | Posted by em385guy

Get out of law school at how old? Do 12 years in county government, jump to the state and do 12 and you're how old? 55? 60? Best age to be in the big time. Run what ya brung. It wouldn't be any different result than what we've got right now.

#34 | Posted by em385guy

It's only "Up or Out" because that's the way polkitics work. You'd never expect or want an ex-President to be a county commisioner.

I'd vote for Kay but fuck that nutcase Perry.

Why the fuck didn't you, chickenshit?

You're in Laredo, right?

That's Texas last time I checked.

You seem to have a hard time "showing up" anywhere, don't you?

I failed to register in time. I'll vote in the General though.

I voted for Medina at the fire station today.

Why not?

I like Kay and Perry both, but I was disgusted at the campaign.

We've got a goddamn Communist in the White House and don't need to be wasting our time and resources fighting each other in stupid primary races while this insidious punk destroys the mechanics of our economy.

This is increasingly becoming a war between Americans and an alien, un-American cabal that controls the Executive and Legislative branches of government.

We need to be unified, mean, and downright ruthless between now and November.

Time to trot that one out again, right, dull? At least we don't shut down hardware stores for serving free donuts. We also have a working economy.

I have a brain. Soon as you get back on shore we can meet for PT. Is that a deal?

47 SAT *SQUAWK!*

And as far as overall worth to society, I'll take one, low test-scoring Meskin product from the Ysleta ISD over 100 pseudo-intellectual dipshits from California whining about the "proprietarianism" ingrained in society.

So dull, how does it feel to live in a bankrupt state that plays an econoomic second fiddle to another state that is #47 in SAT scoresand is #2 in unemployment in the US? It must burn like hell. LOL

Exactly what does a good SAT score get you in California, anyway? More scrip? LOL

C;mon, dull, there's got to be some advantage to living in that bankrupt shithole you do. Tell us what it is? Big SAT scores? Whoopty fuck! lol

I'll bring my degrees and certifications when we meet for PT ok?

Bring whatever you want.

We have assurances from two of the finest brains in Texas that when they run out of oil in a few decades, they will not become an over taxed welfare state like California.

That's reassuring, but coming from these two dreamers, if I were Texans I would be looking into raising cattle again and leave the technology stuff to men of science. Your remarks on global warming proves that neither of you has the right stuff as Houston would say.

Ask yourself this boys and girls (and those in between like jak and joe, What does Texas and Alaska have in common that keeps them in the black? No, the answer is not Perry and Palin, righties, try again.

Hutchinson just conceded

when they run out of oil in a few decades, they will not become an over taxed welfare state like California.

And you continue to demostrate you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Our economy is a function jobs in the tech, manufacturing, agricultural, etc. sectors.

There's also the low cost of housing, lack of a personal state income tax, the quality of higher education, low taxation and limited regulation of business, a central geographic location, a limited government, and weather.

You're creating a fucking fantasy in your head about an oil-dependent economy so your little world makes sense.

Open your eyes, puke.

What does Texas and Alaska have in common that keeps them in the black?

We don't allow left-wing shitstains to formulate and implement public policy.

*pats head*

You come back with another insightful and cutting rhetorical question, okay?

EM385GUY...I live in Hawaii. We offer clean air, clean water, clean land and Aloha not found anywhere else in the country. We have liberal laws which keep people happy and strict gun laws which keep people safe. We have the lowest crime rates in the country and the best weather anyone could ask for. We don't have polluted factory air, mile after endless mile of decaying subdivisions and a car on every square inch of our highways. We also have a balanced budget (we have laws to limit spending in bad times) in spite of a very bad economy which has wrecked tourism for two years now.

You asked, now let's hear all the jerks tell me we what a shit hole welfare state Hawaii is. I sure hope you pubbies all listen. You are our biggest black eye. Do yourself a favor, don't listen to me and stay away.

Hutchinson just conceded

She conceeded hours ago.

And you continue to demostrate you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I've been there twice. It's a shithole and you ain't goin' to convince this world traveler. People like you are everywhere cinnamon ring licker jak. You want a flame war, you got it.

if I were Texans I would be looking into raising cattle again and leave the technology stuff to men of science.

We're doing both, dumbass.

And quite well.

neither of you has the right stuff as Houston would say.

Actually, Tom Wolfe said that.

But I'm not gonna hold a little lapse in cultural literacy against a dumbshit from the Sandwich Islands that thinks SUVs are altering macro-climate cycles---or that taxing and borrowing money "stimulates" the economy.

You want a flame war, you got it.

LOL.

Oh dear.

Do yourself a favor, don't listen to me and stay away.

Guess they were slow on the draw in announcing she'd conceded.

strict gun laws which keep people safe. We have the lowest crime rates in the country

LOL! Look around..you're on an ISLAND! Where are you going to run to to get away from the law?

Funny stuff, flagged as such.

LOL! Look around..you're on an ISLAND! Where are you going to run to to get away from the law?

Up until just a couple of years ago the entire district of Kau had just one cop on duty each shift. We didn't need them until thousands of people fed up with the mainland flooded over here thanks to California style developers and the first Republican Governor for 50 years. Kailua-Kona is now a refuge for mainland mentality baby boomers. The hippie days were much more relaxing and trouble free. Guys like you would never know. You are just a part of the clueless majority.

And choke the only industry that makes your little islands economically viable?

You are so clueless. Economic viability in Hawaii is not the most important aspect of our lives here, at least for the locals. It's the transplants that think money is God that are having a bad time now. The rest of us are used to learning how to live with the land, not chop it up and sell it to the highest bidder.

BTW...For the record there is no major tourists resorts in the District of Kau (the biggest and least populated district on the Big Island). Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is not a money maker for Hawaii. It is a federal park.

We all survive by local businesses, agriculture, hunting, fishing, gathering and home businesses. It is perhaps the most independent community in the entire state and a liberal stronghold by a huge majority. So, you see jak, you really don't have a clue about how independence works here in America. It's not about being a republican at all. They forgot how to be real independents decades ago.

btw.. as per the other thread:
www.drudge.com
Texas Gov. Rick Perry faces Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and libertarian activist Debra Medina.

Medina is NOT a Libertarian, she's a Republican, and has been a Republican.

(all publicity is not good publicity [for the LP].)

Perry leads the vote in Texas?

Wow, they musta really liked that "Kissed a Girl" song a lot.

Wozzit? Not Katie but Rick?

K, that makes more sense, which is to say "Some".

We're not running out of oil anytime soon.

Depends on how one defines "soon".

Yer definition seems unreasonably optimistic.

But then again you did vote fer Debbie "Funky Cold" Medina so...

/Was gonna go with "Does Dallas" then checked meself.

Be Well.

...good riddance Kay, you silly slut.

How so?

She aint leaving Texas politics is she?

Didn't she say she was gonna quit in late 2009 in order to run fer Governor full time and then eventually backed down from that intention?

So isn't she still the senior Senator from Texas?

Perry's simplistic "Me Texas, She DC" stratagery werked out well fer him in the end here.

And Jak's vote fer Medina ended up getting him a "turd" place finish?

How appropriate fer a TPer.

Lawls! ^_^

Be Well.

5% turnout.

Looks like "none of the above" leads the vote.

We have assurances from two of the finest brains in Texas that when they run out of oil in a few decades, they will not become an over taxed welfare state like California.

???

I assured no one of anything. I never predicted the future of any state. I never mentioned California.

Where do you come up with this stuff, ringo? How is it that putting words into people's mouths comes so easily to you? Do the voices in your head make you lie, is it your sheepleherd, or just copying your buddy woke?

We all survive by local businesses, agriculture, hunting, ...

Hawaii being so anti gun (according to your own words, ringo) what do y'all hunt with? All bow and arrow?

We don't have polluted factory air, mile after endless mile of decaying subdivisions and a car on every square inch of our highways.

What a fucking lie. I just left there. (I just lnaded in Houston and awaiting my connecting flight back home) I never saw worse traffic in my life. The air was hazy. They place has gone downhill bigtime since I was there last in 1976.

Fuck, ringo. Again, what is it with you and the lies?

What a fucking lie.

You are a fucking idiot and a liar. Honolulu and Waikiki is the only big city in the state, and it's still nicer then any city in Texas. WTF were you expecting anyway? If you weren't such a cheap assed sucker you would have stayed in a real resort. If that's all you saw then you got taken. Fortunately, people like you is what keeps the country here country.

If Perry can win a race as an anti-incumbent while serving as Texas governor, that's an impressive feat. He could be a formidable presidential candidate.

He could be a formidable presidential candidate.

Assuming he could get passed the sterotype that Texans are pompous morons.

Excuse the typo.

I bet Kay Baily Hutchinson is kicking herself for turning down the VP slot with McCain about now.

I remember back in 2008 fearing she would accept, McCain could have won with her on the ticket instead of the brainless hack from Alaska.

McCain could have won with her on the ticket instead of the brainless hack from Alaska.

I think you are right, but this also explains why Texans are turned off by her.

Honolulu and Waikiki is the only big city in the state, and it's still nicer then any city in Texas.

???

So you've been to every city in Texas. Otherwise you couldn't say that. What? You haven't? You mean I caught you once again pulling shit out of your ass. Man, I'm so fucking surprised at you ringo. *snark off* LOL If you actually told the truth about something, you'd have nothing to say, would you? Let's see you prove me wrong on that one.

If you weren't such a cheap assed sucker you would have stayed in a real resort.

Yea, but I am cheap. I stayed in the Hilton where my brother in law's company put him up. ($300/night is cheap? You need to get out more, ringo) I used FF miles to fly 1st class. Only thing I paid for was a rental car. Yep, I'm cheap. THink I'd actually pay real money to get a bad case of island fever and be stuck in traffic for 7 days? Get real. LOL

I have lived in several cities in Texas, and I have lived in Honolulu, as well as Lahaina on Maui. I can honestly say that both Honolulu and Lahaina beat any city I have ever lived in while in Texas - born and raised in DFW, spent time in Austin and San Antonio, and have worked for extended periods in Houston. Honolulu's traffic has nothing on shitty Houston traffic. Plus, Houston is the dumps (chemical plants, refinaries, etc.).

Now with all that said, I am entertaining an offer from a firm in Houston.

Ah, Goaty went trolling again and all he caught was a mud shark. What's the matter, couldn't get laid by one of those foxy island babes and ended up loosing all your money in the Korean bars?

Next time head for the outer islands. You probably still won't get laid, but at least you can't complain about the traffic.

Next time head for the outer islands.

Been there. They are still islands. I have to be able to drive hundreds of miles in one direction if I want.

I can honestly say that both Honolulu and Lahaina beat any city I have ever lived in while in Texas

All things considered? Check out this real estate page:

www.homes.com

Generally, for $200,000 in Honolulu you get 1 br, 1 bath, 600 ft^2. LOL I paid $103 for 2 acres, 3/2.5/2, fireplace and woodburning stove, balcony, all wood (no sheetrock at all, except a closet) ~2,400 ft^2. I noticed gasoline is a buck higher there. Food definitely is. But the kicker? No boundless expanse of water to hinder my driving! Paying twice as much for 1/4 the living area (I can't imagine living in a house the size of my current living room) and no land doesn't cut it for me. True, there are no coconut palm trees at my house, but I guess we each have our priorities when choosing a home to buy.

I'm monogamous, ringo. BTW, a 300 lb poi and spam stuffed Polynesian wahine is not my idea of a foxy babe. The only foxy babes there are the tourists.

You get funnier every day Goat. There is not to many foxy babes in Waikiki anyway. Mostly just fat tourists. The hot chicks hang out at the shopping malls or north shore on Oahu. In Kona they are everywhere you look.

@afkabib #6...

and the other lady is a kook

she's not kook, she's a Republican:

Medina got involved in politics in the 1990s and became Wharton County GOP chairwoman in 2004. She was a high-level volunteer for Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign, and served as Interim State Coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty. At the 2008 Republican Party of Texas state convention in Houston, she lost her bid for state GOP vice chairwoman. In 2008, she decided to run for governor.

Prior to the 2008 Republican Party of Texas state convention, Medina sued the party to ensure that the convention would be held in accordance with the Texas Election Code. The case was originally dismissed on an issue of jurisdiction, but the party demanded $14,000 for attorney fees. Medina appealed the case to the 1st Court of Appeals. In January 2010, she won her appeal when the appeals court ruled that the award was improper and dismissed the case.

In December 2009, Medina filed on the Republican ballot for the 2010 Texas gubernatorial race.

next post I retracted the kook remark.

Man this guy has George W Bush written all over him.

Please texas, keep him to yourself.

We dont need any more smiling cowboys in the real world.

SPEAKSOFTLY

I don't think 'former Texas Governor' is a winning resume item anymore for Presidential candidates.

There's a chance Perry be defeated by highly popular former Houston mayor Bill White. Texas is more purple than red now, and getting more and more Democrat as time goes on.

Only gerrymandering keeps it red for the moment. Some of the districts are ridiculously drawn.

From your lips to gods ears.

I actually like austin a lot. Spent a summer there once.

If they can austin-ize the rest of it, i'll be impressed, but i'm not holding my breath.

AU..

while its a nice try, I think you are dreamin on your last post.
bill white doesnt have a chance in hell and while you are right about white was a popular mayor as EVEN I VOTED FOR Him last time..that was for one issue basically and that one issue alone..he did a good job during both hurricanes but that doesnt mean anything to the rest of the state as we see how much better we are than states run by democrats.

and the comment on redistricting..again..more hogwash because we in texas still understand that was about changing populations and not the devil and mr delay that the national assholes FICTIONALIZED it to be

speak...I am happy you liked austin..I do too but it does not speak for the rest of the state.
come back anytime and I hope you were able to get to san antonio and the rest of the hill country.

Texas does not have income tax, but it has very high property tax. I pay about 2.6% of the value of my house annually in property tax (city, county, school, community college).

"I think you are right, but this also explains why Texans are turned off by her."

They didn't seem to have a problem electing her to the Senate. I don't think they were so turned off by her as they were just more inclined to keep Perry.

you vote for perry and then spend the next 4 years wondering why?
well a six billion dollar surplus is one reason

Dear Halfassedbanddirector:
If Texas has a surplus, then why are all state colleges being forced to give back 5% of this year's budget and next year's?
