I am not sure if you understood, but I imagine she was joking. Or trying to get a rise out of your class. The Israelis I have met have a different sense of humor, it is a very dark humor.

During HOV training at the UOA with my girlfriend, they showed an image of a crashed van, and all the occupants had died. The van had some church logo, and writing on it. While most everyone in the class is stone quiet, my little Jewish girlfriend blurts out "Looks like they took a short cut to get to their destination". It took a second or two before I busted out laughing, getting over my own inhibitions. I have since come to love that dark humor of hers.

Maybe they've rebuilt the ski resort up there. Either way there have to be some lodges up in the snowy areas. It's something you should definitely do at least once in your life.
