After a 32-year-old man shot two students at a Littleton, Colo., middle school in the same area as Columbine High, teach David Benke tackled the gunman and pinned him to the ground with the help of another teacher, stopping what could have been a much more violent encounter.

Why isn't this teacher spending his time improving students' test scores? He should be fired.

The ACLU will sue this teacher for roughing up and not reading rights to this "alledged" assailant.

You are an idiot.

I haven't read the teachers union contract, but I am sure he violated it by tackling the student.

CHAIR,

He tackle a 32yr old man...if he is a student then we more issue in education than I thought.

Damn, he must not have been a lib. A good lib would have run for cover and called 911. You can't be taking the law into your own hands, you know.

Reading the article would have helped!
This morning on the radio it was reported the shooter was a student.

Rightburgers belittle American Hero for cheap political snark.

The teacher must have been a lib, no rightie could do anything without a bazooka.

You can't be taking the law into your own hands, you know.

An armed pubbie would have shot everyone within 50 feet of the assailant...in case they were accomplices.

I'm sure if you tried you could have found a way to tie in Obama AND the UN. You're just a lazy troll.

According to the pubbies there is no such thing as a teacher that is not a lib. What's up with that sniper?

Wow. Bruco Strongeagle Eastwood -- if that's not a made up name--.

He probably thought he was Clint Eastwood.

I'm fighting for freedom, he proclaimed somberly. Freedom for who? Individual students from life or from the federal education system? Advocating Homeschooling would make much more sense.

This guy should be given a medal for bravery. It takes some real huevos to tackle an armed gunman that is half your age...

America needs more people like this: Republican, Democrat or whatever...

Isn't that a bit of a generalization? I do know a few teachers that arn't. What's up with that rin?

I agree.

Irony Flag

letusprey school was letting out and the teacher was working the crosswalk. the guys is a hero. two students shot, one was in critical condition now in serious and the idiots like fwthom, sniper(?), 101 etc can't give the guy some credit.
it would be interesting to see what they would say if this happened at a large corporate office instead of a public school.

I would have thought that everyone here would be celebrating this guy's bravery. I like to think I'd do the same as this teacher did: protect the students.

But it seems we can't celebrate clear bravery here without finding our way to partisan snark. I shouldn't be surprised, of course.

Of course it wouldn't surprise you if the '32 year old shooter' was a 'middle school student'. That'd be normal thinking for you.

Before making silly comments about the ACLU, why don't you learn how to spell "alleged"?

and the idiots like fwthom, sniper(?), 101 etc can't give the guy some credit.

You are a dumb fuck. All I said was, "Damn, he must not have been a lib." I think that is giving him a lot of credit.

But Sniper, it's a stupid comment. Liberals can't be brave? You're an asshole if you really believe that.

pra, they keep preaching to us to never take action ourselves. Call 911 and let the experts handle it. Please tell me I am wrong about that.

The legal system in America doesn't "protect" anyone. Our legal system only serves to punish criminals. It is a reactive system. YOU and only you can protect your family and property against crime/victimization...

I have multiple firearms and a will to protect me and mine...

I would like to think that I have the same stuff that this guy did; to tackle an armed gunman, however I would really rather have a gun to drop him safely and efficiently... "Safely" for me as-well-as his other targets...

Anus,

What was that about a will?

Fuck lot of good a will would do without a legal system to enforce it.

You fantasy Rambos crack me up with your dreams of being superdude. You are statistically more likely to kill yourself or one of your family than ever use your gun to stop a crime. It is even more likely that a criminal will use your own gun to kill you than the other way around.

The teacher was a MATH TEACHER. Of course he was a liberal. Everyone knows Rtards can't do math worth shit. Just look at the state of our economy after the neocons had their way with it. It will take 8 years of Democrats paying the bills to come close to recovering from Smirky the Wonder Chimp and his rubber stamp congress 2000-2006 drunken spending spree and billionaire tax giveaways.

***"Fuck lot of good a will would do without a legal system to enforce it."

I was referring to "will" in the "volition" sense of the word, not the document...

***"You fantasy Rambos crack me up with your dreams of being superdude. You are statistically more likely to kill yourself or one of your family than ever use your gun to stop a crime. It is even more likely that a criminal will use your own gun to kill you than the other way around"

Well Axe, if you knew me, or had any idea about whom, or what I am that statement might not be so stupid...

But, as far as your "statistics" go please provide a "link", because I know for a fact that you are wrong:

Myth: Handguns are 43 times more likely to kill a family member than a criminal

Fact: Of the 43 deaths reported in this flawed study, 37 (86%) were suicides. Other deaths involved criminal activity between the family members (drug deals gone bad).

Fact: Of the remaining deaths, the deceased family members include felons, drug dealers, violent spouses committing assault, and other criminals.

Fact: Only 0.1% (1 in a thousand) of the defensive uses of guns results in the death of the predator. This means you are much more likely to prevent a crime without bloodshed than hurt a family member.

If guns are so dangerous why do anti-gun groups always have to make shit up to disparage guns and gun owners???
