Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

According to a report released Thursday by the Government Accountability Office, that $5 billion federal weatherization program which was supposed to save energy and create jobs has been a miserable failure. GAO says that by the end of 2009, only 9,100 homes had been weatherized, while the Department of Energy claims it weatherized more than 22,000 homes last year with recovery funding.

Obama and Biden estimated this program would "put approximately 87,000 Americans to work." Just one more failure among many.

I put this up a week or so ago - just got alot of chirping from chairman zero's cheerleaders:

Depression approaching and Democrats say "hey let's try something to prevent it." Republicans say "hey let's do nothing."
So, some of the things we tried worked better than others but pretending that because one program didn't create as many jobs as we hoped is a realistic reason to have opposed the overall stimulus is ridiculous. Thousands of jobs were saved all over the country whether or not the right wants to admit it. It is purely partisan on their part, they are still hoping for failure and for more economic hardship for Americans. Never forget, this depression or recession, whichever you want to call it, is a direct result of their overall economic philosophy being put to the test which it failed miserably.

Speaking of failures, anyone notice freddie mac lost another $7.8 billion last quarter? Maybe we can give them another $110 billion. Also Consumer Confidence fell almost 20 points.

Mission Accomplished!

Oh, not THAT kind of failure.

Carry on.

Depression approaching and Democrats say "hey let's try something to prevent it." Republicans say "hey let's do nothing."

Just like the roarin 30's!

It was the roaring 20's and the depressing 30's.

Depression approaching and Democrats say "hey let's try something to prevent it." Republicans say "hey let's do nothing."

Doing 1% of what you said you would do is not much better than doing nothing. And nothing was a lot cheaper.

Why are you so unable to admit the failures of government when said government is run by Democrats? If any private business did 1% of what they promised to do, they would no longer be in existence. But idiots like you continue to re-elect the people who implement these failures because you think they are better than the other people who fail.

The recession in the early twenties was more sever than the one in the thirties, only it didn't last as long. 18 months compared to 43 months. The biggest difference was the government didn't try as hard to fix it.

Right Joe. It's all the big bad Democrats fault.
No wonder you're unemployed.

New Home Sales dropped 11.2% in January... Another record low. Of course Biden will be out shortly saying it could have been worse.

I'm talking about failures of government at large - and in this case it is Democrats who have failed, and in many other cases it's the other party. Anyone who can't see that is a fucking idiot; not surprising that you're in that group.

Attagirl Josephine. You keep that up. That's professional.

Since when is any of the activity on this site judged for being unprofessional?

come on now joe..you know full well that if you are a progressive that automatically defines you as smart, intelligent, professional, caring, diverse, compassionate, loving, reverent, and a real credit to your race

and if you are conservative...well IM just too fuckin stupid to tell you and you are just too fuckin stupid to get it anyway...

#8 Joe> Doing 1% of what you said you would do is not much better than doing nothing. And nothing was a lot cheaper.

Keep talking that like and people like Danni might actually see the skyrocketing debt as attributable to Obama and his cronies.

Naah, what was I thinking... (ie it will never happen).

#3 Danni> Depression approaching and Democrats say "hey let's try something to prevent it." Republicans say "hey let's do nothing."

Short clip from a new movie based on Danni's philosophy. Scene 1:

[Wide shot shows cab of fast-moving steam locomotive. Two men dressed in grimy overalls are in the shot. One has 'Democrat' on his cap and the other has 'Republican' on his cap]

Democrat [shouting]: this train is going so fast, we will never make it around that sharp curve up ahead!

Republican [shouting]: give me a second and I'll think of something to do!

Democrat [shouting louder]: You idiot! We can't wait, we have to do something NOW!

[Close-up shot] Democrat opens door to firebox and begins rapidly shoveling coal inside as flames lick around the open door.

Republican [standing there watching]: what are you doing, that isn't going to slow this train down.

Democrat [still shouting]: You doing nothing isn't helping any, at least I'm doing something!!

[Wide angle panoramic view of train barreling down the track, does not make turn and tumbles down a huge ravine. Slow-mo of the train falling clearly shows 'America' painted on the side of the locomotive.']

The end.

Danni might actually see the skyrocketing debt as attributable to Obama and his cronies.

Yeah keep thinking that only Obama has a spending problem.

Pork Provisions, Patriot Act Derails Bipartisan Jobs Bill
Senate Democrats have scrapped a bipartisan jobs bill after Republicans stuffed it with such provisions as loans to chicken producers, aid to catfish farmers, an extension of several parts of the Patriot Act, and other unrelated items.

#18 726> Yeah keep thinking that only Obama has a spending problem.

I've never attributed any spending problem solely to Obama, or the Democratic politicians now or previously in office. I've stated countless times that I strongly opposed G.W.'s (and his Republican cohorts in Congress) spending largess. I was told by staunch Republicans at the time that it "was needed" and "was a vote buying measure", neither of which altered my position one whit.

What I do have a problem with is:
A) Republicans and repub supporters who howl to the heavens about Obama/Democrat spending now but kept their mouths shut when G.W./Republicans were spending wildly.
B) Democrats who deflect any criticism at current spending levels while still attacking G.W.'s record for massive spending.

Both A and B are hypocrits at best and party hacks at worst. G.W. was doing his best (or worst) to spend us into oblivion, and Obama is playing the same game but has seriously upped the stakes.

STOP THE SPENDING!!!

P.S. If they Republicans really want to regain control in November, I think they will have to seriously make themselves look like fiscal conservatives. With their past track record it is a steep uphill climb.

P.P.S. Didn't anybody like my post #17??

A clock that is not working is right twice a day and a clock that is wrong is always wrong.

It looks too me like they've got until March 31st, 2012 to complete weatherization of another half mil homes. Get back to us in two years. If it's still not done by then, you've got a legit bitch.

They are 1% done after one year. Do you expect them to ramp up their efforts by a multiple of 50?

I don't know, but I posted an article about this same issue a couple of months ago, alleging that at least one state was sitting on the money. Perhaps some states are delaying this work on purpose.
