Marie Raymond sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night, heart pounding, freaked out by the sound of her name being shouted loud and clear. Other times she'll be awakened by the sound of a huge crash, as if someone has broken a window or knocked over a set of dishes.

Be Well.

Must not be that rare of a phenomenon. After a long day of hiking, when I'm just plain beat, I'll be laying in my hammock...miles from anywhere populated...alone...start to nod off and BAM! I'm awake.

To me it sounds like someone kicking a door in or running a car into a tree. No explosions or gun shots. Only happens when I'm alone in the woods.

I've had that experience. It never occurred to me to view it as a medical condition. It hasn't happened in a few years. I usually heard my name spoken very loudly. Only rarely would I hear a pop.

Of course I have the symptoms of "restless leg syndrome" too. Again, never crossed my mind it was a medical condition. I figured out early on the solution is to get my lazy butt up and move.

Seems to me that's the solution for a lot of things.
