Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Attacks on the Internal Revenue Service and its employees similar to Thursday's small plane crash in Texas are common, according to federal records and investigations. "There is a direct correlation between increased IRS enforcement efforts and the number of threats made against IRS employees," said J. Russell George, who heads the office of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.

"I'm not surprised. Those bastards."

You're kicking the wrong end of the horse. Don't like what the IRS does? Call your Representatives and tell them to write more simplistic tax laws. The IRS is only there to enforce the laws Congress writes.

Well that explains the sawed off shotguns issued to the IRS.

Cry me a river. We should look into what those fuckers have been doing to Americans for years and years.

I was just doin' my job.

20% success rate not very good. But, how do you get more convictions than indictments?

Do you suppose that someone in the government could figure out that people don't like the tax laws and the extremely high penelties that go with late payment? They are worse than the credit card companies.

"The IRS is only there to enforce the laws Congress writes."

You've never dealt with the IRS. They don't care about the laws. Their position is usually "We're right and you're wrong because we are the IRS."

The IRS doesn't care so much about the law when it disagrees with their position.

On Wednesday, the day before Andrew Joseph Stack III left his suicide note and crashed the plane into the building in Austin, the Obama administration proposed a widespread crackdown on all types of independent contractors in an effort to raise $7 billion in tax revenue over 10 years.

Actually, if you work with the IRS, you can run your business in a way that you avoid paying taxes almost forever.

The more you know about them, the less intimidating the become.

It's the people who haven't given in to playing their game who are intimidated.

I liken it to paying off the mob and the CPAs are the men on the street, so to speak, collecting the "protection" money. (Lord willing), my CPA is good enough to file my tax return in such a way that I don't get audited and if I am will be there to protect me. I found a woman CPA who seems to know everything! I don't know for sure because if I did, I'd do my own taxes which is not a good idea because they like audit people who do their own taxes.... babbling.... babbling...

I think Eddie was speaking of Vernon Hunter, who was killed by Stack. He was a 68 year old black Vietnam Vet and father of six, among other things:

You really do not need facts if you realize that the 13th Amendment was pushed throught without ratification by all the states. Ergo, the tax code is illegal to begin with.

National Treasury Employees Union: another fine example of a Union that needs to be dissolved. Until the tax codes are changed, where they can actually be understood by all, there will continue to be more incidents like those described in the article. Unfortunately, there is an unlimited supply of idiots that have had enough.

You don't have to be an idiot to realize that you have had enough, my friend. In fact, an idiot wouldn't know the difference.

Wonder what these assklowns would do if they actually had to pay taxes for things as they went along instead of running deficits? Think Dubya would have got his Excellent Iraqi Adventure if every American man woman and child was required to cut him a $3000 check up front?

no. good point.

But the same question can be posed on many large initiatives and you would get the same answer.

Right. Like Medicare Part D, or the Iraq war, or Afghanistan, or Bush's tax cuts:

All unfunded. It seems the Republicans really learned that you can just pass shit and not even attempt to pay for it. I suppose as Dick Cheney said, "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter", well, until Democrats are in and then deficits will kill you...

Damn, those Republicans are smart. They understood that, at least since Reagan that you can run structural deficits and then portray the other side as spendthrifts when it suits you. They understood that it's not the fiscal recklessness that bothers folks, but the PAYING or BUDGETING such spending.

Really fucking brilliant.

Damn, those Republicans are smart.

they have been playing that for at least 25 years.

and yet they are heralded as the party of fiscal responsibility.

fucking hilarious.

Similar to abortion doctors.

Here's to the Fair Tax!

Repeal the 16th Amendment and it becomes a moot issue.

You think it's bad now??? Just wait for the new taxes

"You really do not need facts if you realize that the 13th Amendment was pushed throught without ratification by all the states. Ergo, the tax code is illegal to begin with."

Great. Another moron in the Joe Stack mold.

On top of that, it's the 16th amendment.

"Here's to the Fair Tax!"

Ah, yes...the answer for the seriously math-challenged.

As well as reality-challenged. As of now, the IRS is only interested in transactions involving deductible items. Pass the Fair Tax, and the FTRS (Fair Tax Revenue Service) will have to be empowered to investigate EVERY transaction. Not to mention you've just incentivized the black market like never before.

On top of that, it's the 16th amendment.

It's pretty sad that this needed to be pointed out.

Interesting theory!

1) It's the 13th.
2) It's 3/4 Ratification, not 100% ratification.
3) Income and property tax existed prior to the Amendment as noted in Pollock.
4) You are unconstitutional.

Crap. now I did it. It's the 16th is what I meant to say. Coffee, where art thou?

For the record, love how the NOPers justify these attacks on the IRS. And how they forget you pay less taxes this year than last.

The IRS can't even come up with the same answer when two different offices do the taxes. What is wrong with a simple tax law? Why should doing your taxes every year be so fucking complicated?

We should go to a federal sales tax and do away with the IRS completly.

Stating a position doesn't make it so, Danforth. What makes your position the correct position? Data, sources, etc?

They drain bank accounts without warning, leaving people unable to hire legal representation to defend their rights. The IRS violates the 4th Amendment more than any Nazi ever did. Nothing should be taken by the government without a judge hearing both sides first.

They drain bank accounts without warning

False.

Here's an easy solution... fire all of them and go with the Fair Tax. Who knows... maybe we could fund Obama care with the savings from salaries and legal fees.

We should go to a federal sales tax and do away with the IRS completly.

That would require the government to remove many of the stumbling blocks that are now in place for them to pick and choose winners and losers. AKA killing free markets.

Besides, what would the Danforth's do?
