"I find it interesting that you have a lot of the Republicans running around pushing back on the stimulus money and saying this doesn't create any new jobs. Then they go out and they do the photo ops and they're posing with the big check and they say, 'Isn't this great?' Anyone that says it hasn't created a job, they should talk to the 150,000 people that have been getting jobs in California." -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger

Ahnold! terminating Repube hypocrisy?!

Hope he has a really big gun.....

One problem I have with this stimulus "hypocrisy" stuff is that both sides should behave this way. It is what one would expect.

Who paid for the stimulus? Taxpayers?

Who lives in Republican areas? Taxpayers?
Who are taxpayers? Republicans and Democrats?

Shouldn't you be touting these individuals for doing the right thing and getting the stimulus money for the people who may have wanted it in their districts and states etc.?

Besides, it is those people's money anyway, if it is going to be spent, they may as well try to get some of it back for things going on that will impact them, no?

Hypocrisy radar set on low.

Over 100 Republicans Voted Against Stimulus Then Asked Obama for Money

Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Alabama Republicans Jo Bonner and Robert Aderholt took to the U.S. House floor in July, denouncing the Obama administration's stimulus plan for failing to boost employment. "Where are the jobs?" each of them asked.

Over the next three months, Bonner and Aderholt tried at least five times to steer stimulus-funded transportation grants to Alabama on grounds that the projects would help create thousands of jobs.

They joined more than 100 congressional Republicans and several Democrats who, after voting against the stimulus bill, wrote Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood seeking money from $1.5 billion the plan set aside for local road, bridge, rail and transit grants. The $862 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed last year with no Republican votes in the House and three in the Senate.

I wonder how many of congress would vote against a bill if your distict could not benefit from that bill?

Seems to me that would be an easy solution. You vote against it, your distict is automatically unable to use any of the funds.

Governator says, "Give me some fucking money".

One problem I have with this stimulus "hypocrisy" stuff is that both sides should behave this way. It is what one would expect.

Been hearing this all weekend long. GOPhers 'explaining' away the hypocrisy.

Anyone that says it hasn't created a job, they should talk to the 150,000 people that have been getting jobs in California.

And how many have been lost at the same time?

What bothers rightwingers more: That Schwarzenegger supports the stimulus package? Or that he is a Republican? Teapeople, lock and load.

touting these individuals for doing the right thing and getting the stimulus money for the people who may have wanted it in their districts and states etc.

The GOP clearly said it was the wrong thing to do and they should have demanded no communist money be spent in their districts, protested publicly wherever it was spent and then ran in November on how they saved their voters' souls from the nanny state.

Or that he is a Republican?

the GOP is full of guys like Arnold.

His State is going broke and he has to take all the help he can get. I don't see where he has no choice except to stump for the stimulus.

"the GOP is full of guys like Arnold."

And the Teabaggers are determined to change that.

"His State is going broke and he has to take all the help he can get."

California may be worse off than other states but most states are having trouble balancing budgets these days.

What the HELL! I would do exactly the same! They put the money out there, go get it. It aint colored Republican OR Democrat! Arnold wants everyone else's share cause he got to many Regulations, boards, and committees and NOT enough control! Arnold is a Republican because the Democrat was Gray Davis!

If I have heard correctly, the Republicans have tried to Forgo any funds with strings attached, the ones with follow on costs! For Education, for Part-time workers to draw unemployment benefits, but most of all, for this!!

You know, the Health Care Bill that mandates the states pick up the additional cost of MEDICAID starting in 2014/15, after ALL of the current Governors are LONG out of office, including the one from MICHIGAN who talks a lot!

NO WONDER THEY WANT IT, SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!

Corker, if your selective party representative had stood against this bill, and yet you and a majority of your state had stood behind it, and your representative had an opportunity to acquire funds for your state or district, would you be pissed off at him if he did, or if he didnt, seeing as most of those he was representing wanted the funds to be used and were partial payers of those funds to begin with?

Basically, his constituents wanted the funds and payed into the funds, as did you, and he rejects them when offered just because he voted no on the process, you would cheer him on for his no vote against those he is representing?

The terms "hypocrisy" and "Republican" shouldn't be used in the same sentence as the terms are redundant, repetitive, and basically mean the same thing...

Dragonldy....your type of thinking is EXACTLY why we are in the horrible fiscal shape we are in. "You vote against it, your distict is automatically unable to use any of the funds"

This doesn't stop the expenditure - this just penalizes those congressman who are trying to be fiscally responsible. Why in the world would you think this is a good way to go? Where do you draw the line between what is good for America (not spending this money) and partisanship?

Danni - Do you know why California is bankrupt? I guess the fact that they have had an overwhelming Democratic majority running the finances: 1) paying for illegal immagrant medical care, education, housing, welfare, food stamps, energy usage 2)killing off viable farms (that produce revenue from both the business itself and the workers it hires) in the name of "ecology" 3)Additional cost in police and social services to protect people from the gang related violence that have been brought in.

Basically we have the Blue states - just like the Blue federal government - assuming they can "tax the rich" and spend whatever they want on what ever will get them the most votes.

Gap -
Blue: 34,746,000,000 74%
Purple: 8,785,000,000 19%
Red: 3,374,000,000 7%

BLUE States

California: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 22% BLUE
Gap: $22.2 billion

New York: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 9.8% BLUE
Gap: $5.5 billion

New Jersey: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 7.7% BLUE
Gap: $2.5 billion

Illinois: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 6.3% BLUE
Gap: $1.8 billion

Maryland: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 7.2% BLUE

Wisconsin: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 4.6% BLUE

Michigan: Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 4.8% BLUE

Only 7% of the State budget shortfall in this economic downturn are in Republican held states. I wonder why.

Sure whatever...

Tell that to SINGAPORE... Looks like things work really well there...

RINO-Republican aflac doesn't like. Now Senator Brown, pro-abortion and pro-socialist health care is a conservative hero because, well, he is a Republican aflac likes.

Socialism at any level DOES NOT WORK.

Well, why do "conservatives" support red states giving money to corporations like Toyota, Honda and Boeing?

Singapore - has a highly developed and successful free-market economy. It enjoys a remarkably open and corruption-free environment, stable prices, and a per capita GDP higher than that of most developed countries. The economy depends heavily on exports, particularly in consumer electronics, information technology products, pharmaceuticals, and on a growing financial services sector. Real GDP growth averaged 7% between 2004 and 2007, but dropped to 1.1% in 2008 as a result of the global financial crisis. The economy contracted in the last three quarters of 2008, and GDP fell 2.6% for 2009.

It has attracted major investments in pharmaceuticals and medical technology production and will continue efforts to establish Singapore as Southeast Asia's financial and high-tech hub.

*** Sounds REAL socialistic ***

North - Why do you think giving a tax cut or an incentive to a business is socialism?

In a true freemarket economy there would be no taxes on businesses in the first place.

The Cristonator agrees...

Crist: Stimulus Has Created Jobs, I Don't Regret Hugging Obama

Florida Governor Charlie Crist won't win over many of his conservative critics with his latest move -- declaring emphatically that the president's stimulus has created tens of thousands of jobs in his state and expressing "not one iota" of regret for working with Obama (indeed, hugging him) on the jobs-creating proposal.

Appearing outside the White House on Monday, the Florida Republican Senatorial candidate pushed back against his GOP critics -- notably Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) -- who have declared that the stimulus has not created one single job in America.

"It is not the case in Florida -- we accepted the stimulus money; all of my fellow governors did," Crist said. "I think it was the responsible and right thing to do for the people and it puts people above politics. In Florida alone, for example, it created or maintained at least 87,000 jobs; 27,000 of those jobs are educators and teachers throughout the state. I dare say what the impact would be throughout the state if those teachers were out of work, unable to put bread on the table of their families. This is necessary and it relates to job creation."

Asked later if he has any regrets over appearing alongside Obama at a presidential visit to Florida to tout the stimulus's benefits, he replied: "None whatsoever."

"In fact, I talked about it this morning," Crist explained. "I don't apologize for it at all. It was the right thing to do. We needed the money. It saved 87,00 jobs for our state. I was raised to respect the presidency of the United States. And the man who occupies the office now and I don't agree on everything, but by golly when we agree on something, and that means helping the people of the state I was elected to govern, I'm going to be there and I'm going to thank him."

Of course, Fl and CA are not your typical Repube Southern states more caught up in whether their guns are polished rather than whether people have jobs.

The point is you yell at anyone who will listen that the stimulus has not created a single job then beg for stimulus money because it will create jobs=hypocrisy

Individually, over half of the entire Republican caucus has hailed nearly every aspect of the stimulus as a success from infrastructure funds, to food programs, to education grants. But politically, admitting its success might harm the GOP's chances in November. So with Republicans fixated on winning politically, they have focused on deceiving the public by calling the stimulus a failure, while pretending successful programs aren't stimulus funded.
----------------

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), the NRCC leader who called the stimulus a "massive spending binge" and an "abject failure," wrote three times to administration officials asking for four projects in Dallas. Sessions wrote that the stimulus projects will "create jobs in the region and improve the quality of life for North Texans."
===================

Rep. Steve Buyer (R-IN), who called the stimulus a "sham," wrote to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood requesting $80 million in stimulus funds that he believed were "vital to the economic health of North Central Indiana." At the end of the letter, Buyer wrote, "Ray, I appreciate your personal attention. Steve."
====================

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), along with Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), fought for stimulus highway funds for I-73 in South Carolina. According to letters obtained by Bloomberg, Graham proclaimed that the stimulus project would "create 5,789 jobs." Graham apparently sent "a dozen" similar pitches for stimulus funds. Even though the stimulus contained one of the largest middle class tax cuts in modern history, Graham had called the stimulus a "failure" for focusing on spending instead of tax cuts.
=====================

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) spent the morning of July 28th railing against the stimulus, yelling "Where's the stimulus package? Where's the jobs?" on the House floor. On the same day of his rant, Kingston's office sent out multiple press releases bragging that he had secured hundreds of thousands in stimulus funds to hire additional police officers in his district.
=========================

On Monday, Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) hosted a job fair in his district at Germanna Community College. Like his last job fair in August, Cantor used it as an opportunity to gain positive local press and launch attacks against President Obama.
At the fair, Cantor told reporters that the stimulus has been an "utter failure." But as the Washington Post has noted, nearly half of the "30 organizations participating" in Cantor's event "were recipients of the stimulus."

So far, the stimulus has injected over $5 billion into Virginia, creating or saving at least 5,900 jobs. The money has helped local governments avoid budget cuts and layoffs, while spurring private investment by funding infrastructure and other critical projects. Many of the employers at Cantor's job fair were a clear demonstration of the success of the stimulus:
======================

It does not stop

"I was raised to respect the presidency of the United States. And the man who occupies the office now and I don't agree on everything, but by golly when we agree on something, and that means helping the people of the state I was elected to govern, I'm going to be there and I'm going to thank him."

Unlike typical Repubes, who are going to trash the legislation and the Pres, then disappear until it's time to hand out the goodies.

This tired shit is where the real hypocrisy lies.

When Dems are elected that are very progressive, the political "geniuses" tell us that the country is centrist and these progressives need to move to the center to emulate the country's centrist position.

When a rightie acts as a centrist, he is attacked for not being right wing enough.

The hypocrisy runs deep in the wing ding world

Even though the stimulus contained one of the largest middle class tax cuts in modern history, Graham had called the stimulus a "failure" for focusing on spending instead of tax cuts.

That is because the bulk of the tax cuts don't go to the wealthiest.... his base.

Only a small percentage of the stimulus was for infrastructure, which is actually worth spending (and borrowing) money on. And in that event, there's nothing wrong with a Senator asking for funds for a new highway, I suppose.

But I'm fine with sending all the Congressional Republicans home forever, along with all the Congressional Democrats. How many of you Dems are going to vote against your Congressman, who voted for the bank bailouts? You, Corky?

Even though the stimulus contained one of the largest middle class tax cuts in modern history,

I'm not railing against the stimulus but what does that mean?

"largest middle class tax cut" in the form of what?

what a stupid, stupid f#$%king article. if someone steals your sh!t while you scream "NO DON'T DO THAT!" and then they offer to spread it all around to people later who are raising their hands, and someone has the dumb nerve to call you a hypocrite cause you're raising your hand for your sh!t back, i say you punch that retard right in his fat, ugly, stupid face.

Everytime I get a little sympathetic toward Ron Paul some Paultard comes along and reminds me of his kooky side, and especially, his kooky followers.

-who voted for the bank bailouts? You, Corky?

Tritey would have blown his brains out had he lost all his money to an insolvent bank.

Though he would, admittedly, have to be an especially good shot to hit such a small target.

The only job Arnold is interested in is a new Whitehouse job. Leave it to him to make it a Repub/Dem thing... he is so out of touch.

California is broke
He's a lame-duck Gov.
He loves government jobs.

Corker, answer #16 please

Conservative Super Star is a RINO:

Newly elected Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) will vote to advance Democrats' $15 billion jobs bill Monday evening, breaking with his party and giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) one of the two votes he needs to move the measure forward.

He would be a hypocritical SOB, just like these Rethugs.

-Newly elected Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) will vote to advance Democrats' $15 billion jobs bill Monday evening, breaking with his party and giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) one of the two votes he needs to move the measure forward.

hahahahaha!!

What can you expect from a Choicer who voted for RomneryCare?

Who is your congressman Corky?

Conservative Super Star is a RINO:

I knew that before he got elected. He is from Mass for Christ Sakes.

Corky, what do you say in regard to #16?

1st - So the republicans are not "Holier than thou" - does not make it right in the first place. 2nd- If they did not spend it ...it still would have been spent...why not ask WHY it was passed in the first place? 3rd) Notice that the Jobs are Government jobs which are not actually "CREATED" jobs..they are FUNDED jobs.

As to the "largest middle class tax cut" ..that is just a plain lie -1) it was not a Tax cut ..it was a rebate 2) The Bush tax cut was the largest for the the middle class - but it also applied to the upper class - which - given that this is under the topic of Hypocracy - is laughable

Really Nut - Where?

In the end - MOST of the money is going to DEM congressional districts *** ( and by the way - if the calculation is PER CAPITA - it means that you should see SMALLER numbers for the larger cities NOT BIGGER numbers as there are more people. )*** it is not creating jobs - it has allowed the Blue states that have over spent ...to keep on spending.

When are you guys going to start being AMERICANS and see that we cannot continue down this path. You are cooking the golden goose!

Tritey would have blown his brains out had he lost all his money to an insolvent bank.

Ummm . . . FDIC insurance would have still paid out.

What a retard. Your's in the party of big Wall Street. Embrace it. Love it. The Dems haven't done much to save jobs on Main Street, but thanks to you, those Goldman bonuses are being paid.

How is that version of trickle-down working for you? Pretty good?

The Guvanator was de-balled by the Sacramento Socialist in his first year and gave up the fight that needed to be fought.

Now our state of Cali is in the shitter with no way and I mean no way out.

Cali is a perfect example of Utopian Liberalism run amok.

Many of the "produce" are leaving or have left while the "takers" are still here and have grown in numbers.

DocSmooth: Why don't you leave? We don't need rightwing shitheads like you making matters worse. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

The Tea Party is not gonna go anywhere.

...says the 27 percent approval rating guy.

Waaaa...this is my sandbox!

Typical Eliteist Lefty...afraid to debate the issues and just want to hang around your own kind and "Blame Bush."

Once you accept at the fact that we (the U.S.) have elected a complete neophite who is in waaaay over his head who surounded himself with Chicago Thugs, Marxists and other total incompetants like himself, there may still be a ray of hope for this once great country of ours.

Ciao!

It would be stupid to not use the money and let the libs use it foolishly. It will be less to repair when the conservatives get back in power. Yes, they should use it. Hypocrisy is a way of life that conservatives need to copy from the libs.

Again, would you cheer him on for his original vote against his constituents and also cheer him on for sticking to his ground against the constituents when the opportunity arose for those he represents to see some of the funds that they were for?

AH thanks for the reply..I was wondering who it was going to be....lol

my bottom line is that what also happens when that moderate republican runs for president, they lose...and THATS why dems are so happy when somebody like arnold says what he did...which is why dems were thrilled when THEY HELPED to get mccain the nomination.....

and his tea party comment has already fueled massive recruitment in california and other states at least according to a local radio host....
so THANK YOu governor of a BANKRUPT STATE..a REAL endorsement for you opinion....

ER...the point was not getting what the pols could/should but railing against specific parts of the bill, then when they get the money pull a 180, ie this bill has/will not produce one job...this money that I got for you will be an economic boon and produce x# jobs

"which is why dems were thrilled when THEY HELPED to get mccain the nomination....."

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid...

thanks for the smile doc.
of course I laugh at you with some degree of regularity..........(snicker snicker)

Ahnold sounds like a guy who needs some more money.
