The top earmarkers in both the House and Senate are Republicans, even after the GOP has spent much of the past year making fiscal restraint and runaway government spending the centerpiece of its political message.

"Do as we say, not as we earmark and vote." - Rtards

We were against earmarks before we were for earmarks after we were against them before we were for them.

Now that Murtha's dead.

"Now that Murtha's dead."

Really?

TOP EARMARK RECIPIENTS (SOLO) HOUSE:
Young, Bill (R-FL-10th) $90,450,000
Lewis, Jerry (R-CA-41st) $82,694,000
Murtha (D-PA-12th) $82,443,000

Here's another headline for you: "5 of top 7 House Earmark winners Democrats"

Since you're so worried about earmarks, here's another story for you: www.usatoday.com

Cherry picking is such fun.

When these folk, "spent much of the past year making fiscal restraint and runaway government spending the centerpiece of its political message.", and then top the earmarks list, they are, unlike Mr Murtha, staggeringly pathetic hypocrites.

Protest the stimulus, then parade the stimulus money before your constituents. Support bills in congress, then vote against them when Dems bring them to the floor. Rage against wasteful spending, then lead the league in earmarks.

Oh yeah, these are real Republican heroes alright.

They are such fiscal conservatives!

However that is only when talking in front of a camera.

The sad reality is that the mouthbreathers will actually believe their line of bullshit.

Hopefully those on this list lose their next election, unfortunately for Senators this could take a few years.

And dumbass voters will continue electing these scumbags.

Michelle Bachmann stands against big government, government waste, and government handouts. She owns a farm in Wisconsin. It grows government subsidies. That's about it. They are all hypocrits. At least the Dems are honest about earmarks...and McCain is too.

It seems like the Democrats are getting better at their partisan attacks. Or maybe the Republicans have just made themselves really, really easy to attack?

Attacking your opponent seems like an unfortunate but necessary evil. Of course I might not be impartial; I voted for Obama and would do so again based on what I've seen so far.

Earmarks are the means to get back some of the money that the Federal government has grabbed. Like highway subsidies, that's just how the government works.

Of course, when the Dems want money, they just put it in the bill and vote for it, being in the majority.

But if you're a Republican, Nancy and Harry will make sure that your bills are rejected, your committee motions fail, and your amendments are ignored. They don't even get a chance to be vetoed by Mr. rubber-stamp spender, Prez Obama.

And unilaterally rejecting earmarks just leaves more money for the greedy bastards that don't.

" staggeringly pathetic hypocrites".

That's part of the GOP's purity test. There won't be a single righty here opposing the GOppers earmarks, without trying to deflect to the Dems.

Oh yeah, Tea Bagger Queen SARAH!!, who was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against the bridge to nowhere kept the half billion, apparently she can make as fine a pork stew as she can a moose stew, though Goat will find that offensive and baggers will stick their fingers in their ears and go lalala.

Republican Hypocracy?

Yeah, that's a real shocker ain't it? LOL

Just one way way to identify why the dems nd the media arent during thier jobs. The media should call this out. the dems should put a megaphone to it. Weakness.

Throw them all out to the curb and start over...

Look the democrats were going at the budget first, what's wrong with getting a little bit of the action afterwards? After all, they started it. The money was there for the taking. When the Republicans are back in charge, none of this is going to happen.

Promise.

Repub.= Defense spending

Dems. = 1.5 billion in housing help
Climatic Research
Half-trillion dollar 'omnibus'spending bill
100 billion-dollar climate fund
825 billion stimulus
Dems.
added more to the National Debt in
the last year than all others did
combined in the past 220 years
yet you feel qualified to lecture
us about fiscal responsibility

Their districts pay taxes, and if you can't stop spending, you might as well try and grab some money.

I don't like Social Security, but I'm forced to pay into it, and if it's around when I retire, I will collect it.

The money machine for the Republican Party is the Chamber of Commerce, which represents small businesses; the money machine for the Democrats is Unions and Lawyers.

Who is the largest job creator in America? Small businesses.
Unions create no jobs, and according to some economic studies Lawyers crate unemployment.

So it's not a shocker that Reds states lead in job creation, and Blue States lead in job losses.

So it's not a shocker that Reds states lead in obesity, toothlessness and poverty while sponging off of blue states.
