My last job in NYC was Managing the implementation of a Biometric Fingerprinting system for the NYPD.

It is used to fingerprint criminals in all 75 police precincts and has a search-able database.

It's Called a Livescan AFIS System.

Manufactured by a company named IDENTIX. Though I worked for the company that ran the job called SAGEM MORPHO SYSTEMS.

Crime was down 39% in NYC within two years of the implementation.

So yea we collect plenty of Garbage...

This included fingerprints collected at crime scenes called Latent Prints.

For years, many crimes were never solved. In a case where you have latent prints you had to depend on humans to search through thousands and thousands of fingerprint cards on file to attempt to find a match and catch the perpetrator of the crime.

Once we scanned all the NYPD prints into the system and then All latent fingerprints collected at unsolved crimes through the years, Thousands of previously Unsolved crimes were solved in the first few months because the computer matched latent prints to prints on file.

Cops were waking career criminals up at two in the morning and taking them in for robbing a bank in 1975 and stuff like that. Many of them didn't even remember the crimes. Hundreds of murders were solved in a week from prints taken from hand guns...

So Yes... Crime dropped 39% because career criminals went to jail. The average gang member in NYC became terrified of the new system the cops had. If you had ever been arrested and they caught you again they knew who you were in 20 minutes.

So... If you had warrants out on you and got arrested and tried to give the cops a fake name you were busted. it was no longer possible to get away with that type of stuff...

Words are cheap, as anyone posting here at DR surely know. To watch hallichainy rail on Obama is pretty damning for him......because hallichainy did not protect the USA during his time in office. In fact, he's never protected anyone but himself....including changing the pentagon rules to allow privatization of the military when DOD, then becoming the ceo of one of the largest war profiteering corps, then creating an unnecessary invasion/occupation out of whole cloth and when his lies were pointed out, outing an entire cia program by naming one of it's agents who was married to the man who outed those lies.
Not to mention allowing the 911 attacks on his watch as veep by focusing on an antiquated pnac agenda of invading/occupying iraqnam written a decade before, he has no credibility now whatsoever. And then, invading/occupying a country that was not part of the attack, surely shows how pathetic he truly was as a leader.

He should be tried as a war criminal sooner than later for the sake of all of the US troops (and civilians) who've been kia and/or wia in iraqnam since 2003.
