"He says 'I'm for clean coal,' and then he says it in his speeches, but he doesn't say it in here," said Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia. "And he doesn't say it in the minds of my own people. And he's beginning to not be believable to me."

The natives are getting restless...

To understand Obama, you have to take the reverse of whatever he says.

"Clean Coal" subsidies are to W Virginia and other coal states wot the Ethanol subsidies are to Iowa.

Which is to say a corporate handout that makes no logical sense but plenty of political sense.

Obama chatted up "clean coal" in a few speeches and now that he's in power he's all for ending the odious subsidies.

No wonder Jaybot is unimpressed.

Fark him.

GObama!

Be Well.

Jay Rockefeller says he's "beginning" to not believe Glorious Community Organizer. I think Jay is a hopelessly slow learner.

He knows we're ready to kick his ass to the curb...

Why not let them burn "dirty" coal? We need cheap energy and only the green panther environmental nuts stand in the way.

No such thing as clean coal.

"Clean coal" polls better than "coal".
Are there cleaner ways to mine and process it? Sure.
But you still have to go in and rip it out of the ground either way.

No such thing as clean coal.

Yes there is,just like the fuel efficent cars. You can only go so far with efficient technology.
Probe an exhaust before the cat on a new car and you will see the same near reading as you did in 1980.
No change,just illusion.

No such thing as clean coal.

#7 | Posted by rightisright - FLAG; rightisright - is wrong . . . again

clean coal technology generally consists of scrubbing undesirable elements from the power plant flue gases (exhaust gases) . . .

this technology ELININATED acid rain in the US long ago and has continued to improve - -

the flue gases are chemically scrubbed . . . the resulting compound being either fertilizer (ammonium based scrubber) or gypsum (limestone based scrubber), both of which are then sold for their commercial value

As, er, usual, RightisRight, DethSpud and myself agree.

Clean coal is bunk. Ethanol is bunk. Neither deserve a penny of taxpayer subsidies.

No,clean coal is about removing the co2 from the emissions and pumping it into the ground.
The thing you're talking about is where the birth of carbon credits came from.

Nuclear is the future. Jay Rockefeller is a moron.

-No such thing as clean coal.

Correctomundo.

THE only experimental facility for clean coal in the US is an unused pasture in N Florida that was proposed to filter liquefied coal thru the ground (!) but has never done a thing since it would eventually pollute the groundwater.

But since Illinois and WV are big coal producers, you won't hear it from these guys.
