Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, February 12, 2010

Last month it was revealed that modified military aircraft drones will carry out surveillance and will be in place for the 2012 Olympics. The flying robot fleet will range from miniature tactical craft to BAE's new HERTI drone as flown in Afghanistan. Unmanned aircraft can be fitted with LRAD speakers producing intense beams of sound that can be used as a loudhailer or deafen the target with a jarring, discordant noise. Helicopters can use high intensity strobe lighting capabilities to cause dizziness, disorientation and loss of balance. A light based personnel immobilisation device would be too dangerous for a manned aircraft crew, but an unmanned strober could be deployed within a few years. Tasers are now so light that they could be mounted on smaller drones.

We were just discussing this exact thing, if and when we ever get out of Iraq and Afghanistan there will be a need for a new market for the hardware. Like we figured the new market will be surveilling us.

BTW if surveilling isn't really a word sorry about that.

"The Future Police: Armed Robot Drones"

Immune to tits and tears.

Why wouldn't they? Since the events of the G20 in Pittsburgh were widely unreported, ignored by the media, it is a clear message that they can get away with such measures. Incrementalism then ratches it up to the next level. How much more will America's dumbed-down sheep put up with? Who will stand up and say no to the police state thug criminals?

Isn't robot drones sort of redundant?

When machines are used for the submission of man blood will run in the streets and there will be a politician strung up by every light-post in DC.

We are the land of the individual and there are certain lines that will not be crossed without civil retribution.

It may be bloody.

Let the Games Begin!!!

Since the events of the G20 in Pittsburgh were widely unreported, ignored by the media, it is a clear message that they can get away with such measures.

Wow LR I can see why you believe we are now living in a police state since they used those devastating weapons at Pittsburgh.

The worst thing they did was continually playing that looped message from the computerized voice about dispersing. Otherwise, it seems to be typical anti-protest police behavior seen at most of those sorts of events.

Last night I drove by one of those new all black police cars that many towns here in NJ use now and it made me think about how things have changed since I was a kid. We were told back then that if something was going wrong and a parent was not around, we should go to a cop if we see one. And we were taught to only go to uniformed cops and to only approach marked squad cars. And the cops drove around in cars that were very easily identified as cop cars so members of the public could easily identify them if they needed help. Now the cops want to drive around in cars that are very hard to identify until you get very close. Because they no longer look at it as their job to serve the public good. The public is now their enemy and they must use stealth and camoflauge to avoid being detected by the enemey. So it would surprise me at all if they decide to take the human part of the equation out of law enforcement even more. Citizens have already moved from person to enemy status.

" So it would surprise "

..would not... I always screw that up....

You miss the point. Right now they are using the non-threatening application of this technology just to get people used to seeing this technology deployed and they are live training sessions for the officers.

Once there is a comfort level in government that they can move to the next level, they will.

Besides missing the point, as expressed by Prolix, you also completely mischaracterized what happened at the G20. Most likely a measured response. You couldn't be that clueless.

mmmmhmmmmmmmm so they're just implementing these with simply annoying sounds to get people used to seeing them, then they'll deploy the ones that make people explode?

I didn't mischaracterize shit.

The videos that still worked in that link showed what I would expect-police in riot gear forcing people to disperse from "illegal" protests.

I disagree with this every time it happens.

Particularly when there is NO criminal activity going on.

If there is more to the G20 protests that wasn't shown in the videos, maybe you should post something on that instead of claiming I'm "mischaracterizing" what happened there.

"Isn't robot drones sort of redundant?"

Hehe, you obviously DON'T work in a typical office setting!

I watched one of the videos. That had an annoying sound, but everyone's just walking around like it's no big deal. Am I supposed to be afraid of that "weapon?" I was hoping one of our resident tin foil hattists would direct me.

There was a kid who lived in the town I live in who became a highway patroll man that wrecked his car last week and died, it was a complete waste. He was on his way to assist the sheriff's department on a...

It's almost too stupid to even type.

They THOUGHT someone was tresspassing in an abandoned house, Jon J. Rambo or whatever the fuck his name was lost control going 110 MPH and flipped end over end for about 1/4 of a mile. If you've ever seen the movie Natrual Born Killers there's a scene in it that immediately came to mind when I heard about it:

This has been done before, hasnt anyone seen Robocop?

Robocop!

So you claim ignorance? Probably the smarter choice in retrospect.

Before posting, you're even mischaracterizing what was on video. There were no "illegal" protests in these videos. Second, the LRAD is not implementing annoying sounds. The LRAD is a sound weapon that can cause permanent hearing damage that was used in Iraq/Afg. KDKA Report.

Maybe it's when you're posting the YouTube links. I've copied and pasted them in a browser window and get the same "Malformed URL" message. Might be if you're posting YouTube links at the Preview window instead of when you originally compose your posts?

One comment on the JFK assassination:

Recently released phone LBJ phone conversations included an interesting one with J Edgar Hoover, who told LBJ, just minutes after they'd arrested Lee Harvey Oswald that Oswald was 'definitely' the gunman who did it all by his lonesome. I think most of America thinks that whole JFK assassination/Warren Commission finding was bullshit.

Hundreds observed two men in the window above the one LHO allegedly fired from, and a gunnery sergeant standing on the grassy knoll felt and heard a bullet whiz by his ear from behind him. He turned, saw smoke from a rifle barrel, and knew by the sound of the report what kind of rifle it was. Too many others to mention.....

...most of America thinks that whole JFK assassination/Warren Commission finding was bullshit.

The Warren Commision was a blatent cover-up.

Ever read Sir Bertrand Russell's famous "16 questions"?

If not you should.

Be Well.

Why do you think I put illegal in quotes dumb ass?

I disagree with this every time it happens.

Reading is key.

So is not cherry picking quotes to keep up the raging.

If there is more to the G20 protests that wasn't shown in the videos, maybe you should post something on that instead of claiming I'm "mischaracterizing" what happened there.

Again, reading is key.

The videos in the infowars link doesn't show anything unexpected in regards to police breaking up protests and congregations of people.

It also doesn't show anything too concerning in regards to these LRAD "weapons" since they didn't seem to be doing much of anything to the individuals in the immediate vicinity.

So you claim ignorance? Probably the smarter choice in retrospect.

Yes it is generally better to admit you don't know something than to try and act like you do.

You should try it some time. I know there's certain conversations on the DR where it'd be the better response from you than what you try and post.

Drones are great!

No health care, no pensions, and no unions!

Mischaracterization is better cover for you than claiming ignorance.

Nice cut-n-paste butcher job you dishonest sack of shit. What I said has a clearly different meaning in context.

To think you harp on others' credibility whilst seemingly having no concern for your own.

Mischaracterization is better cover for you than claiming ignorance.

Misquoting and intellectual dishonesty seems to be better cover for you.

Just claim poor reading comprehension next time, it'll look better for you.

>Because they no longer look at it as their job to serve the public good. The public is now their enemy and they must use stealth and camoflauge to avoid being detected by the enemey.

Huh? Have another.

butcher job you dishonest sack of shit.

Nothing is "out of context". You have a huge credibility issue. Nice try though.

Anarchists Disrupt Peaceful Protest at Olympics

Good article also covers the G20 provocateuring. The goal? Cops give cops excuse to attack/snuff out peaceful protest/dissent and cloud the issue being protested (civil liberties violations).

Nothing is "out of context". You have a huge credibility issue. Nice try though.

Yeah, I have a credibility issue with dishonest sacks of shit such as yourself who cut and paste what they choose while leaving out the rest that doesn't fit what they want to portray.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me though. Everything else you believe is based on half truths, distortions and outright bullshit. I shouldn't expect myself and my positions to be portrayed any differently.

Police officers in military gear. Free speech zones. Tear gassing college students not even participating in the protests then blocking their exit so that they are stuck in the gas. Sonic weapons used on protesters who dared stray out of approved free speech zones. Arrests for practicing their 1st Amendment rights.

And my personal favorite. Snatch and Grab by US Military. www.youtube.com

You're justifying something that should be disgusting to every American because it's become commonplace. The corralling of unpopular dissenters into convenient spaces to keep them out of view is a direct result of the lessons learned from from past protests and the reason behind the militarization of normal police.

Does having your head in the sand make the ass fucking less noticeable?

I guess these kids were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The tough guy at the end is a nice touch. www.youtube.com
