I guess he lost the war then.

I liked the movie a lot.

Charlie Wilson orchestrated the only successful CIA operation in the history of the CIA. The CIA trail of pain, death, waste and blowback (unintended consequences) is nothing short of criminal. Everything else the CIA has done has turned to shit, which is what Afghanistan is turning into now.

Thanks Charlie, you hedonistic-highly-effective- ex-Congressman you.

Charlie nominated my brother-in-law for Annapolis, he was accepted and graduated from Annapolis.

RIP

That's a bummer. A Dem who doesn't hesitate to put his own ass on the line as opposed to someone elses.

Charlie Wilson was and is a Patriot! He should get a banner before "cold blooded killers Murtha"?

Funny how the leftist media validates someone's worth these days, they lean to the RIGHT when they want to try and paint the marxist party as caring Americans. This guy was from another era, a true American democrat, not the girlie-boy whining clowns that you have now.

Tutamen Deus

One American who we could really call a friend.

RIP.

I understand he was as colorful as portrayed by Tom Hanks. He did a good job, but I suspect we backed too many of the wrong guys ... Or we just didn't realize the risk of flashback, whch is what we got.

You don't know 98 percent of what the CIA has done, dumbass. They advertise their failures as part of disinformation. And it works on fools like you.

Vermin ought to know. CIA has been after his drug-mafia bosses for a long time.

The only person they could get to however was Vermin... their "mule" (person who carries drugs across border by stuffing them up his bum).

Charlie Wilson is dead?

Dang, he was a good 'un.

Charlie Wilson's "secret" war against the Soviets in Afghanistan through local proxies was a remarkable success.

Too bad America dropped the ball afterwords and failed to rein in the monster that was created in that war. Into that power vacuum the forces of Islamic extremism grew into both Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

The movie was pretty good.

So was Charlie.

RIP Charlie Wilson.

Be Well.

And a Good Friend of Pakistan's. But we aren't/weren't supposed to talk about that. National Security and what not.

Charlie Wilson? Never heard of him. He must have been a real asshole.

A true American hero. A role model for Congressmen. We need his kind again. We should thank Texas for sending him to DC.

And while Jack Murtha sure had his problems in later life, don't forget that it was he who ramrodded much of the funding for Charlie's war.

And a Good Friend of Pakistan's. But we aren't/weren't supposed to talk about that. National Security and what not.

If Pakistan was so evil why did Obama go there when he was in college?

Look at me, please.

"For the next 12 years, Wilson made his reputation in the Texas legislature as the "liberal from Lufkin", viewed with suspicion by business interests."

Look at me.

Look at me, please.

What can you do? 101-Cripple needs constant attention. Being stuck in a wheelchair all the time would do that.

find a book and read about this man before some of you spout off...

I was fortuante to meet him in 1983 when I took a group to washington from east texas...just outside of lufkin..he was engaging and spent a lot of time with us in the rotunda and he even took me and the adults onto the senate floor since they werent in session and thanks to HIM I can forever say that I rubbed my fingers along the desk where daniel webster cut his name into the desk...it was totally cool...

he also was the TEXAN that movies and stories are written about..
women
booze
POWER broker

and a legend in his later days...

so long "GOOD TIME CHARLEY"

oh and sources from east texas say that movie was toned down on the 'extra curricular' parts...
again.,,.his names around those parts was good time charley and it wasnt for nothing...

Yes, Vermin, you're probably right, but I know all I need to know to draw those obvious conclusions:

Involuyntary injection of syphillus, plutonium and LSD into blacks and other people designated expendible, Bay of Pigs, Vietnam, Burmese triangle, Iran Contra, US crack cocaine epidemic, Murder of Nuns and Priests throughout Central and South America, Murder of freely elected leaders of Iran and Iraq, Shah of Iran, Suharto, Sumosa, Allende, Aristide... this is just a short list of their merciless fuckups.

I guess he lost the war then.

Actually it was Reagan. It's what Republican Presidents do best.

The Zen Master says, "We'll see".

The ball keeps on bouncing.

These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world... and then we fucked up the end game.

Great movie...

RIP Mr. Wilson. You were a good egg.

SO, you were the one that wanted the nativity scene outside the courthouse.

Goodnight Chaz.. What a wonderful man he was.

Despite what your mommy shows you on Dora each day, the world is an ugly place.

Cry me a fucking river

Then we can both watch as your dick floats by and is eaten by ducks

The movie was alright, but I found that it glossed over alot of the intricacies that were detailed in the book. He had the foresight that could have possibly kept Afghanistan from becoming the shitstorm that it is now, he just couldn't get the financial backing to make it happen.

"These things happened, they were wonderful, and they changed the world.... then we fucked up the endgame" ~ Charlie Wilson
