A new analysis of 100 commercial beers shows the beverage is a significant source of dietary silicon, a key ingredient for bone health. A drinker could get 30 mg of the nutrient from two beers, which may help fight osteoporosis.

See, that proves the theory. beer drinkers have stronger bones because everyone knows there should be a shit-load of broken bones as the result of beer, instead of just a few.

I must have one healthy fucking skeletal system by now...

During my twenties I must have been like Wolverine.

liquid bread, with a kick

too much beer... accidents
excessive alcohol IS associated with calcium loss
but there is a HUGE range between some and too much.

I don't have any proof of what you are claiming but I think you are likely right.

I know someone with O/P that drank a 12pk/day for many years. they're falling apart.

"He was a wise man who invented beer."

Sort of.

PORTER: Faith, sir, we were carousing till the second co*k, and drink, sir, is a great provoker of three things.

MACDUFF: What three things does drink especially provoke?

PORTER: Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep and urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes and unprovokes: it provokes the desire but it takes away the performance.

Ilene?

I like beer because it's good
I drink beer because I should
If there was a song to sing
I'd sing it and beer you bring

I drink beer when I am sad
'Cause the beer it makes me glad
Now there's nothing left to sing
So lets go drink beer

Beer is good, beer is good, beer is good
And stuff
Beer is good, beer is good, beer is good

(Let's go drink some)
BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER

When it's warm, it tastes real crappy
But cold beer will make me happy
When I throw-up on the floor
I get up and drink some more

They say beer will make me dumb
It are go good with pizza
Now that we have drunk some beer
Let's go drive a car

Beer is good, beer is good, beer is good
And stuff
Beer is good, beer is good, beer is good

(Let's go drink some)
BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER, BEER

(Dude, I think you've had enough)
No

Let's go drink some beer!

Alcohol is the most destructive chemical on the planet.

Overall it probably is alcohol due to the sheer volume of health-related incidents that are reported. Drunk driving accidents, fights, rapes, domestic abuse, suicides are examples of the negative effects of alcohol on society that can be quantitatively analyzed. Then there is alcoholism which affects the workplace and the home.

No shit!

If someone recognizes they have a problem with the substance they need to abstain from use.

Why punish the majority who use it casually?

PROHIBITION!!
didnt work.

Ever look at the stats on people who actually eat themselves to death? Smoking? etc... Get those figures and compare.

Beer is good for what ALES ye....

My favorites:

Anchor Steam Beer: brewed with an ALE recipe at lager temperatures creating the steam.....a truly all American beer created first during the 1890 Gold Rush

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Great Lakes Brewery beers and ales.....

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

The only readily available beer I will drink nowadays. I don't know how much silicon it has in it but if I feel a shortage I'll swallow some sand.

I have been trying to avoid this but I can't.

A little helps my bone but a lot doesn't help at all.

www.youtube.com

"pour my beer down the sink I've got more in the trunk."

anyone who plays rugby will vouch for this.

Of course it is! For years the experts told us not to drink coffee; now they find it helps with Parkinsons, Alzeimers, bowel cancer and just to stay up and have fun!!!

The so-called experts suck.
