Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, February 07, 2010

The New Orleans Saints have won Super Bowl XLIV. They beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 here at Sun Life Stadium in South Florida. Saints quarterback Drew Brees was 32-of-39 for 288 yards and two touchdowns. But it was the big 75-yard interception return for a touchdown by cornerback Tracy Porter that sealed the deal.

WHO DAT gonna get dey asses kicked by dem colts?

SAINTS win by 7

Saints by 10

The Who will be going the half-time show.

going = doing

need more coffee

There's going to be a lot of pissed off folks on the rig tomorrow if the Saints don't do it. About half of the folks here are from Louisiana. Most of the other other are from Mississippi. I've got to admit I'm getting sick hearing about LSU. The Saints are a welcome relief.

Colts by 8

The Who? They used to be one of my favorite bands. But without John Entwistle and Keith Moon, and knowing the Pete Townsend is a pedo, they just aren't the same.

Goat -

Do you guys on the rig have a pool going for the game again this year?

The Who? They used to be one of my favorite bands...

As long as I get to hear a good rendtion of "Pinball Wizard" at half-time, that'll do it for me.

Do you guys on the rig have a pool going for the game again this year?

Yep. Three ten dollar/square game to be paid $250 per quarter. Last year I won 4th quarter and got $250. The year before I won $100 on the shotgun pool. But I got in too late this year. With the Saints playing, the squares filled up fast.

As long as I get to hear a good rendtion of "Pinball Wizard" at half-time, that'll do it for me.

I'd like to hear "Won't Get Fooled Again", but I'll bet Roger Daltry just can't do that scream anymore.

Drying out. I had to replace the copper anode on our cathodic protection. The sea chest didn't close properly and I got soaked when I took it off. We had to put it back on with several hundred pounds of head pressure in the pipe. It took four of us to do it. I'm sitting in my shop in my underwear waiting for the laundry to wash and dry my coveralls. Don't know what I'm going to do about my workboots.

Did you ever check on getting those new workboots for your feet -- the ones I gave you a link for that conformed to the rig safety standards but were better for diabetics to wear? Getting a good fitting shoe is important in your line of work. You spend enough time walking around and climbing.

Yes, I remember last year's 4th quarter win (thanks to a guy named "Jude" being on your side). lol

So what are your numbers? And for what quarters?

"Three $10 square game" -- how does that work?

Spell it out for me this year. Last year I got your winning numbers reversed.

The coonasses (said with affection!) on your rig must be chomping at the bit with anticipation.

GO SAINTS!

Did you ever check on getting those new workboots for your feet

No. We have to wear the Red Wings they issue us. I had a very comfortable pair of Doc Martens that met all the safety criteria (lace up 6", steel toe, electrical insulated to 1000 volts, oil resistant, etc.) but I had to give them up for the Red Wings which aren't near as comfortable.

So what are your numbers? And for what quarters?

I'm not in this year. I was too late. The scores go for any quarter. There is a 10x10 matrix that everyone who pays $10 puts their initials in. When it's filled, numbers are drawn for the x & y axes. One team is x, the other y. The last digit of the score at the end of each quarter are the winning numbers. E.G. if the score is 3 to 14 at the end of the 1st quarter, whoever has the square where 3 and 4 cross wins.

Last year's pool, cc, so you can see how it works.

Between that (and in honor of the Miami Super Bowl) here's '3 poses only' David Caruso - Miami CSI. My wife an I occasionally watch it, but as a comedy.

Thanks, Goat. I'll check out the photos.

btw -- re your #16

I knew about your rig's requirement you wear their issued Red Wings. Guess you didn't get a chance to check out this ink I gave you awhile back for Red Wing Electrical Hazard Work boots (approved for diabetics)? This other Red Wing Steel-toed work boots is also approved for diabetics. THAT's the important thing.

But who knows, maybe one of those shoes are the exact same style of Red Wings the rig has you wearing now. If not, and they agree to let you wear one of those two better Red Wing work shoes, it would be worth every cent even if you had to pay out of pocket. But then I've said this to you before and, as the saying goes -- you can lead a horse to water. lol

Okay, back to the game!

AU

So who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?

The Who will be going the half-time show.

Yeah? The Who will be doing the wardrobe malfunction this year?

Gross!

So who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?

#21 | Posted by CalifChris

Nawlins. First time in, friends in Thibadeux. Gotta.

lace up 6", steel toe, electrical insulated to 1000 volts, oil resistant, etc.

Those requirements would fit this one then, the first workboot I linked above

Redwing boot

Women = nag nag nag LOL!

later all

Nawlins. First time in, friends in Thibadeux. Gotta.

Good, AU. You picked the WINNER!

later

I appreciate the links, but I'm a cheapskate -- they pay for all our clothes (except socks and underwear) so I'll just wear what they supply.

Colts by 21

21--Wow!

Dats a lota' points!!

Peyton is just too hard to beat. Even when they are behind--Peyton figures it out and kicks butt on the opposing team.

Going to a party!

Peyton is just too hard to beat. Even when they are behind--Peyton figures it out and kicks butt on the opposing team.

Yeah, as we saw with the Patriots, there is no lead that is safe against Peyton Manning.

I'd like to see the Saints win, but I think the Colts are going to win this one big -- at least two touchdowns. Peyton Manning is a touchdown machine, he learns on the fly, chews up blitzes and doesn't make big mistakes.

The reason I believe saints will win is because of their defense. Aints by 4.

this has the potential to actually be a good football game this year. It'll give you something to watch in between commercials.

Peyton Manning is a touchdown machine

#30 | Posted by rcade

No doubt about it. And he is the man you want when the going gets tough.

But look at this! Summin's gotta give!

Saints

Scored 510 points (31.9/g), 1st of 32 in the NFL.
Allowed 341 points (21.3/g), 20th.
Differential of 169 points (10.6/g), 1st.

Colts

Scored 416 points (26.0/g), 7th of 32 in the NFL.
Allowed 307 points (19.2/g), 8th.
Differential of 109 points (6.8/g), 9th.

I'm a Pats fan above all... then an AFC guy... but I don't want the Colts (or Steelers) to try to claim supremacy over New England.

So, I'll root for New Orleans... since it's their first trip to the SB... since they're the underdog... and for the reason I mentioned above.

Another reason to pull for the Saints... they have a lineman named DeMario Pressley. I think he's on injured reserve, so he won't play again till next season. en.wikipedia.org He's on injured reserve, but our son Matt had to block him while Matt was a sophomore tight end on varsity.

Matt also had to try to block Derek Nicholson of Florida State while playing varsity for West Forsyth HS. www.nfldraftscout.com

I'll be pulling for the Saints, but I guess as you put it that way, I'd be okay with the Colts winning too. Almost anything that makes the cheating Pats look bad is cool with me.

Hoping for the Saints, but I'm thinking the colts will pull it off.

I'd also like to add, go fuck yourself Donovan McNabb.

Before I read this thread, here are my thoughts.

I would like to see the Saints win. It's a great underdog story.

having said that, if I was going to bet, I would have to bet on Indy.

Most people I have discussed this with at the local watering hole feel prety much the same.

Saints: Underdog emotional story.

Colts: Can the veteran do it one last time?

Either way, I hope everyone just enjoys the game.

"I'm a Pats fan above all... then an AFC guy... but I don't want the Colts (or Steelers) to try to claim supremacy over New England.
#33 | Posted by OohRah"

Then you're in for a long dry spell. It won't be just the Colts and the Steelers who claim supremacy over the Pats for the next few years. (It's probably karma for their cheating.)

one last time?

#37 | Posted by briwo

It's going to be a while before Peyton's at "one last time". I'd bet he's still got a good 5 or 6 years left in him, unless he chooses to retire early.

The AFC has won what? 5 of the last 6?

The Colts are a better balanced, more solid team in most aspects of the game.... but Naw'lins has that voodoo which they do do so well.... turnovers.

If they get them they win, if not they lose.

The Colts are a better balanced, more solid team in most aspects of the game

Aren't they ranked dead last in the running game?

Who needs a running game with Peyton Manning?
Though we might see one today.
The only game they lost they didn't try to win.

Half of NO's starting linebackers are former Dallas backups who couldn't make the team... as backups. Their defence is what, 20 something?

By better balanced, I meant O/D, not run/pass.

Who needs a running game with Peyton Manning?

True, especially when you play most games in Dec/Jan in a dome, and now the Super Bowl in southern florida.

It looked windy over on the other coast earlier, I don't know about game time.

I guess we don't either of us want to talk about 'Boys or Iggles, eh?

What the hell does skewp mean, m'boor?

Romo sucks, and his fans are lower than seaworm shit. That's IF the seaworms would let them near their shit. Jessica Simpson says he has average intelligence! Colts by 10.

on the surface, you would think that the Colts are good to cover the 5 1/2 - 6 points.

That's why I am taking the Saints to spoil the spread. Who cares if they win. I hope it is a nailbiter.

Tony Romo is the 4th fastest QB to throw 100 TD passes

in just 52 games played...

Dan Marino . . . 44
Kurt Warner . . . 50
Johnny Unitas . . . 51
Tony Romo . . . 52
Peyton Manning . . . 56

Unfortunately, Cookfish's school team, The Transgendered Ladies of Perpetual Menstruation, didn't make the playoffs.

Likely from the real life experience of having been on the receiving end of so many insults.... and dicks.

Plaxico won't say it, but the prevelance of guns in the NFL is the direct result of the Gangsta/Hip-Hop/Prison culture they are surrounded with as they come of age.

I'm also sure their posse's or entourages aren't helping the situation.

Makes me nostalgic for a good old fashioned bar fight.

I believe there was a study released recently that opined when Republicans begin to lose a debate, run out of facts, or are proven demonstrably wrong, they are the most likely to resort to ad hominen attacks.

I'll do a little Googling and see if I can find w/o spending all afternoon looking for it.

I guess we don't either of us want to talk about 'Boys or Iggles, eh?
#45 | POSTED BY CORKY

Oh, no I can talk about that. You guys kicked our asses twice... that first home game was closer than it looked and McNabb got robbed on that 4th down sneak.

heard today that several teams are talking to the Eagles about trades for a QB... all 3 are on the table apparently. I'd like to think McNabb is gone, but knowing this organization they'll stick with him. McNabb keeps them good enough to be competitive and keep the ticket sales up and money is all Eagles owner Lurie cares about, not championships.

But as we saw in the two ass kicking defeats Dallas handed us, yet again Don can't win a big game and his inaccuracy problems go from bad to horrendous in big games.

I'm shocked you guys gave Phillips an extension, but heard on the radio it probably has to do with trying to salvage the season in 2011 if a strike were to happen (same philosophy in San Diego extending Norv)... that way its the same staff and same guys... nothing terribly new.

I'm also sure their posse's or entourages aren't helping the situation.

There was a recruit that UF, FSU and USC just missed out on this passed Wednesday when he signed with Michigan. A lot of people are wondering why he went with them, but I think it has to do with that he had a very thuggish life in high school and was worried that his boys could follow him or that there was trouble to get into in LA... Hopefully he can escape that life...

I've never understood why millionaire athletes who had to grow up dodging bullets and seeing friends and family murdered would want to keep that around in their lives.

For the record Simms won 1 super bowl, He didnt play in the second one Hostettler won SB 25

Doctor Briwo, kindly forward studies you may come across during your perusal of exotic personality disorders.

More specifically, any on adult Right Wing racist goldbricking troll poodles who giggle like little girls at their own prepubescent jokes, seek attention like psycho-symptomatic, Turret's positive, 9-year-olds who act out their repressed, anger-inducing life issues and frustrations on others through advanced age regressed behaviors.

May I suggest, Dr. Briwo, based on previous findings, theirs may include a past and current traumatic life experience shared by other acute patients in similar peer reviewed cases: They couldn't get in the house when their moms passed out on the couch from too much Ripple - with drapes and bathrobe both wide open.

Heylookatmi Institute's 1981 study was groundbreaking in this field, as you no doubt know, new cases as severe as those that present here may provoke psychiatrists from around the world to the Drudge Retort for further study and careful (but stealthy) examination.

I have a question. Why hasn't any of the cheerleaders from either team worked as a featured dancer while they were in Miami. there is real money in it and the season is almost over

More specifically, any on adult Right Wing racist goldbricking troll

I have met many union members that talk out both sides of their mouth whne it comes to racism. One one hand they know it is wrong and accuse Republicans of being racisy yet they will regularly use racial slurs to describe black people. Many unions are racist. Many construction projects in inner cities are filled with white workers from the suburbs. Atlantic City is a great example. So is Philly.

Saints D better start making the adjustments because right now, they're being used like newbie prison bitches.

#61, AU: will do!

That was a stealth TD by Manning. He distracted them and lulled them to sleep with all the pre-snap stuff.... and the running game helps, too.

-I'm shocked you guys gave Phillips an extension

The man has won 2 division titles. We should have kept Sean Payton and Mike Zimmer.

I liked some of Daltry's solo stuff, Free Me and Give Blood to name a couple.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

And CC got her Pinball Wizard:

Game over!

Take over on downs with less than a minute to go.

HAHHAHA!

WTG Saints, your city deserves it after what it had to recover from.

Congrats.

Way to go, Saints. Good win.

Hell of a game!

Super Bowls are so much better when the game is a close one.

And I love it when the underdog wins.

Bulle Bulle!

Way to go!

Do you really want to talk about the Pastriots alleged "cheating" while talking about the Steelers of the 70's?

really?

Put aside the fact that the Patriots were never actually accused or convicted of cheating.... how about all that steroid use by the Steelers in the 70's?

Wouldn't want to forget about that.

Who Dat? Dat B Winners!!!

"Who dat say dey goona beat dem Saints???"

All hail Breesus

DOWN GOES MANNING!!...DOWN GOES MANNING!!

I'm not much of a Saints fan but I sure am glad the Colts got their ass handed to them.

SICK-
I was referring to supremacy of the decade. The Pats can lay claim to being the team of the decade (the 00's).

I would have won my bet. I can live with that.

Allow me to congratulate the...

DALLAS COWBOYS!

YOU HEARD RIGHT. The Dallas Fuckin Cowboys.

Any team that can beat Philly 3x and The NOLA Saints during their rise to glory is a worthy contender.

Romo, love 'em or hate 'em has taken major shit that would make most men run crying for their mommies. From banging Jessica Simpson to the December jinx. I am glad we kept Wade on and would have like to have seen maybe some kind of punishment given to T.O. as opposed to canning him.

We just ran out of gas in Minnesota.

All this ebonics is getting old fast.

Fuck Archie.

Fuck yeah!

WHO DAT!

Still a little drunk, ugghhh. Took the day off.

WHO DAT!!!!!!

Words can't describe what this win does for the city and the region. BLESS YOU BOYS!

Now it's time to gear up for Mardi Gras.

Fat Tuesday here we come!

Tax, I was thinking about you during the game. Congrats. Glad they won.

The Patriots were accused and convicted, or did you forget the loss of the draft pick the next season?

Lets see.... Where steroid illegal in the 70's?...... thinking.......... NO, they were not, so therefor you cant compare the two. And you cant tell me that the Pats were not using steroids in the 70's.

If you can catch the Steelers using steroids now that they are illegal, you would actually have a valid point.

But please do try again.

Thanks, Wis. Last night was definitely crazy.

Nice try...but bzzt! wrong answer. The rulebook makes NO mention of what can and can not be filmed. it DOES provide for where the camera can be placed. You can film the signals, the game, the cheerleader routines, how they enter the field. Whatever you like.

They were fined for a procedural error ONLY. That would be why Goodell said they gained no compettive advantage...the information is LEGAL. They violated a minor rule of camera placement.

Don't tell me that you are onbe of those "every violation of the rules is cheating" morons. Becuase if that is true, have fun calling at least 60 players fined for having their shirts untucked or other uniform violations "cheaters." I mean that is against the rules too right?

Have fun chewing on that a bit.

And if you can call the pats cheaters for obtaining legal information and yet ignore the blatant use of performance enhancing drugs, well then you are incapable of escaping your cognitive dissonance.

No. Do you still have that shot of the Colts offensive Linemen in their stances over yours?

Please explain this to me. Near the end of the
4th quarter the Saints intercepted a pass in the
end zone. The official indicated Saints ball.
But there was a flag on the play against the Colts.
Why did the Colts retain the ball?

he was out of bounds when he caught it thus not an interception

Wasn't it close enough for a booth review,
there was less than 2 minutes left?

I believe it wasnt even close, noone was protesting etc. I believe simms offhand said his foot was out of bounds even before he caught the ball

I don't recall Nantz or Simms even mentioning it.
Did you see the back judge indicate Saints' ball?

I believe it wasnt even close, noone was protesting etc. I believe simms offhand said his foot was out of bounds even before he caught the ball

The rulebook makes NO mention of what can and can not be filmed. it DOES provide for where the camera can be placed. You can film the signals, the game, the cheerleader routines, how they enter the field. Whatever you like.

Fines, shirts untucked, who gives a shit. Face the facts that your Patriots were busted. Like it or not, it is a fact. Dont believe me, try reading this or you can find many sources on your own.

Just type in NFL Patriots Cheating Scandal.

Trying to compare to what the Steelers and probably every other team did in the 70's is just plain stupid. Steroid use could not have been against the rules because there were no rules about steroids in the 70's. At that time they did not know what the side effects were from using them.

You may want to try another thread. You are just making an ass out of yourself here.

However, I've seen the women in wisc., so go figure.

I will bare witness! I can testify! I was in Wisconsin from 02 to 03 for 9 months in Madison. What a barf fest. You look so hot in your outdated Tommy Hilfiger!
ha ha ha or you are a tree hugging dyke in plaid and birkenstocks.

Need I say more-

Are bookies slitting their wrists?

Generally bookies make bank on underdog victories, but not necessarily in football where most of the action is on the spread not the money line or futures. The line started at 4 and moved to 6 1/2 on some boards. So the money was HEAVY on the Colts and Vegas moved the line to get more money on the other side. If the line moves that much it means Vegas is having a hard time getting the bets even (or passed off to another book) and stand to cash in on the underdog. But for the most part Vegas only cares about the juice, who wins and losses isn't that important.

Here's a site devoted to the permanent sourpuss on Manning's face.

God, the Who really sucked...

I was a fan back in the day, but as in every endeavor in life; once you're too old to do it, you're too old to do it...

You'd have thought the people who booked them would've asked for a recent recording of their performance...

Easy there, COU...I nearly got my head bit off for such heresy last evenin'...

Wrong Manning. That's Eli, not Peyton.

The game was great!

The Saints came to play--for a City and a State.

It appeared the Colts played for just a team.

Poor Peyton--what three plays in the 3rd quarter?

He was so grumpy on the sidelines.

Congrats to the Saints--hats off to them!

And only 3 people were shot and/or killed afterwards!

And I won on the Football Squares--$120.00!!

They weren't killed Murphy. And I will never understand why gunowners think it's ok to shoot guns in celebration.

Yeah, I know. And, I really wanted them to kick ass, but they just didn't...

I guess they all can't stand the test of time like Aerosmith. Not that I really like them anymore, but their stage performance is still really good...

Sucked compared to what?

Some dumbass with a up-ended microphone stuck to his lips making chicken-clucking sounds...

phhhh...phhhh..phhhh..uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh...

I'll take The Who over that c-rap any day.

I'd like to see this gal at halftime

Hhahah! Too funny...3 people voted for Saints 10 or more AFTER the game was over..LOL!
