Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Saturday, February 06, 2010

Sarah Palin gave the keynote speech at the first national Tea Party convention, an event for which she's reportedly being paid about $100,000. "How's that hopey changey thing working out for you?" Palin asked at one point after sharply criticizing President Obama.

You betcha wink wink all mavricky and so forth you know....

Get a life dumb ass suckers, you desperatly need it...

Oh, they have one -- over at one of the other half dozen Palin threads: The great tanning bed scandal. LOL

"These are enemies of the state and must be dealt with harshly."
Barack Obama 2010 / Adolph Hitler 1939

Did she just say Alaska instead of the United States? This is a bit painful to watch.

"And people around the world wonder if Alaska is still that beacon of hope..."

Yep, she said it. Just rewound and rewatched,

Makes sense she wanted Alaska to leave the US.

Is there a drinking game? The only way I'm listening to Sarah! Fluffybumpers is if I'm totally hammered--'cause the woman has a voice that can freakin' peel paint. If the Teabagsters have any real integrity they'll ask for their money back. I mean...for $500 there had better be some kind of happy ending in the Champagne Room.

This is a bit painful to watch.

Completely. She's reading from notes as if it's the first time she saw them. The applause is occurring at random. I can't believe there's a single Republican in this country who thinks she's the answer to Obama in 2012.

LAST 5 minutes:

-We DON'T have a strong national defense?

-Uh, we haven't been attacked, have we? Unlike 7 1/2 months under *cough cough*

-We're holding the threat of sanctions over Iran right now.

-TARP proposed and delivered by Bush Adm. What?

-You did such and such as a 1/2 term governor who quit.

-So, putting up where the Stimulus money's going online is a BAD thing?

I'm all for giving Alaska to the Tea Party and secessionist 25% of Republicans (per recent poll). Have at it. Let's see how this ditz would do with her 4 months in the WH (quits because WH press ask questions. Can't have that!)

Would I rather watch NASCAR? You betcha! (Flip)

I can't believe there are people who voluntarily subject themselves to her, then bitch about it like they are surprised at what they see. These same people probably have to smell the unidentifiable green stuff in the container in the back of the 'fridge just to make sure it's bad. LOL

She's reading from notes as if it's the first time she saw them.

She really did need to practice this speech a bit more.

She just outlined Hoover's initial response to the Depression, the very things that even Hoover abandoned (albeit too late).

I can't believe there are people who voluntarily subject themselves to her ...

She's the keynote at the Tea Party convention. We've been hearing for months how important this whole movement is.

"And people around the world wonder if Alaska is still that beacon of hope..."

The state that got the most money per capita from the Federal Govt. Hmm, wonder what they'd do without it?

Fiscal restraint, Puddin'? Let's start with Alaska. Welfare state. Then vote out every GOP Congressman who voted for one trillion dollar unfunded tax cut and program out of office.

OK, time to watch cars go around in a circle. Exciting ... compared to this ....

"Rush sucks! I can't stand him! But I think I'll listen to him and talk about him forever."
"Beck sucks! I can't stand him! But I think I'll listen to him and talk about him forever."
"Palin sucks! I can't stand her! But I think I'll listen to her and talk about her forever."

How many times is Palin going to praise the Constitution in the same speech she ridiculed miranda rights?

Have to catch a little of the show. Reaffirming.

You're watching this thread and bitching about the bitchers. *cough cough* :-)

We've been hearing for months how important this whole movement is.

You must not read your own blog, rcade. I read nothing but how unimportant and insignificant the whole movement is.

How many times is Palin going to praise the Constitution in the same speech she ridiculed miranda rights?

I don't think any of these folks actually think about anything. All they do is "feel." This is truthiness in all its glory.

There are a load of Tea Party type people on this blog who comment daily...

What you read is up to you. :-)

Uh-oh. Sarah wants to "Fix" America. Doesn't Sarah love America? Isn't America the greatest nation on the planet?

Sarah Palin says the Tea Party doesn't need a leader. That's good, because she's no leader.

The one the Alaska Independence Party wants to secede from. The one she and her husband attended meetings of for 4 years, but can't recall ever having heard about 'secession' - even though that's the party's main credo - the only arguments whether to join the Yukon, Canada, or go solo.

You're watching this thread and bitching about the bitchers.

Not so much bitching as wondering out loud why people subject themselves to the green stuff in the back of the 'fridge when there is no question that it is rotten. That's all.

I just saw this thread now and turned on CNN.

There she is now on stage. Now they'be just begun a Q & A with Sarah!

Oh oh, she's showing a lot of leg sitting in her chair.

Nullifidian and Goatman must be in a dead faint on the floor. lol

Someone better go over and help them up.

You somehow miss the hundreds of posts a day whining about them? It's only the left who bitch on this site?

CHRIS

Left you a note on the Nooner ...

Oh oh, she's showing a lot of leg sitting in her chair.

Now I would tune in to see that. But to hear her speak? No thanks.

Top 3 things Conservatives need to do when they get power back (according to Sarah):

Reign in spending.

Ok, what are you going to cut?

Jump start the energy projects. We need to exploit God's green earth.

Really?

Allow America's spirit to rise again by going back to some of our roots where we're a God fearing nation, admitting we don't have the answers so we can seek divine (inspiration?) help.

Now they're talking about a Teabagger party.

Due to my gender, if I joined I'd always be known as a "teabaggee" and never a "teabagger."

Think I'll just stick to being a registered independent on the voting rolls.

Saturday Night Live: Palin Addresses Tea Party

Another headline completed by: Kanrei

Sarah Palin is an idiot for tying herself to the Tea Party. These movements never go anywhere. Wackos take them over. And I say that as somebody who drank the Ross Perot Reform Party kool-aid in 1992.

She's turning the lights on.

And the light shown through her eyes, ears, nose and mouth broadcasting "there's nothing inside." But damn, the moths flocked.

Seriously I think she works for the dnc

You don't get it do you?

They are taking over the Republican Party. They know that it's difficult to start a new party.

The "Tea Party" is nothing but a venue to unleash very damaging complaints against both Republicans and Democrats without taking any heat because a leader of the Tea Party has never been in office--has no past.

In the end, the Tea Party will endorse a Republican.

It's freaken brilliant!

sorry goatherder she said she would do anything she could to help her country even dying to help it so i suggest she go ahead and die.

Leadership Through Quitting

#62 | Posted by truthhurts

Like the Democrat Governor of Colorado?

He's quitting before they come and take him away to tar and feather him!

The Tea Party is the right equivalent of the "Nader Effect." This is a year where the GOP CAN actually retake Congress, but this split and infighting is going to strengthen Obama rather than hurt him. The Tea Party removes the "crazy" from the GOP, and they need their crazy.

yes because they stand for nothing but negativity and NO

We win they lose!

WOW that is seriously brilliant foreign policy

Andrew Breitbart's intro for Palin:

A bizarre and incoherent intro to a strange and rambling speech.

My offer was sincere. What kind of TV do you have? I want to help you get away from your misery. If you don't know, and still can't figure out that complicated power switch, try to walk out of the room. I don't think Sarah's tractor beam has that far of a range.

Again, she won't run, she'll get support among Conservatives and then endorse a Republican.

What's funny as shit is that you don't see it!

THIS is what the right consider the future of the GOP?

Actually this is what the left says the right says is the future of the party. I've never heard her or anyone with power in the party say that. It's like that meme you were talking about this morning that people keep repeating. Remember how I told you the left does it too?

And I say that as somebody who drank the Ross Perot Reform Party kool-aid in 1992.

#52 | Posted by rcade

I hope the Tea Party can split the vote like Ross did.

christ I hate this woman

#47 | Posted by truthhurts

I don't see why. She's great. With any luck she'll split the Republicans into two formal parties.

Again, she won't run, she'll get support among Conservatives and then endorse a Republican.

I'm all for it!! That worked out SO well for Doug Hoffman in NY-23 the last time the Tea Party stuck their noses in a GOP race.

sorry goatherder she said she would do anything she could to help her country even dying to help it so i suggest she go ahead and die.

Cool. I'll still help you escape her tractor beam that has you in her power if you want, though.

'You don't get it do you?

What Palin spouts is exactly the same rhetoric the GOP leadership do. It's all the same ball of ear wax. Fact.

A bizarre and incoherent intro to a strange and rambling speech.

Palin/Breitbart in 2012!

#69 | Posted by rcade

It was a speech at a convention that was supposed to be a private party.

The only explanation for your "bizarre" comments is that you are worried? Or, you are hopeful that weak candidates will run for the Exec.

Again, all they are doing is developing the groundswell of support and then will endorse a candidate.

There is a very large group of independents out there that will be pulled into a Conservative movement.

It was a speech at a convention that was supposed to be a private party.

Hence her reference to C-SPAN 4 times...

Is that how you describe the Democrats?

That's the feeling I got while watching it.

An early and organized attack on both Republicans (neocons) and Democrats.

Democrats are toast. There is no doubt about that.

That's the way I heard that it started out. No media. But I guess pressure from the media, they gave in. (or they had it planned all along).

I tell ya, this is a success for the Conservatives. I was impressed!

Many Libs here were watching.

What Palin spouts is exactly the same rhetoric the GOP leadership do. It's all the same ball of ear wax. Fact.

What the babbler spouts is also exactly the same rhetoric the GOP leadership does. I don't think that means he's running for president, though.

IOW, I didn't know that repeating the party line was tantamount to throwing your hat into the ring.

I pray she wins in 2012. It will be the final blow needed to cause the downfall of America.

GOATMAN

"Tea Party" or "Sarah Palin" - they're spouting GOP leadership talking points verbatim. One in the same these days. May as well hang a "NO MODERATES WANTED" sign at RNC headquarters, 1st and D SE, D.C. Pretty sad.

Guys like Chuck Hagel were good for the GOP. No more. They're fighting Crist's chances in Florida, the best GOP Senator they could elect. Instead, they're backing Rubio, who may as well be a Tea Party member. Same schtick.

Many Libs here were watching.

Of course we are. This was her first televised speech after losing the election. This is where she laid out her platform, her goals.

We learned:

"We win, they lose" for foreign policy.

We don't have all the answers, so we need to fear God and ask for divine intervention.

I tell ya, this is a success for the Conservatives. I was impressed!

Good for you. I suggest you run with this as hard as you can.

I don't see why. She's great. With any luck she'll split the Republicans into two formal parties.

#74 | Posted by nullifidian

No Null, There are many Republican Candidates who are "Tea Partiers". I use the Tea Party term to describe the fiscal Conservative (Ron Paul)

2 years ago they wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning. Nov 2010, there will be several winning.

The "Tea Party" will endorse the ones they want in Nov 2010.

Nov 2012 is a whole 'nuther story.

Many Libs here were watching.

I was watching the NASCAR race.

Speaking of rhetoric, it'll be fun to watch the GOP primary candidates squirm at questions about how their rhetoric didn't match their actions one iota when they had power.

GOATMAN,

There's an example of the wishful nonsense I was talking about last night that's so prevalent around here from the right. Have anything to say about it? You think a guy with Obama's brains and education isn't as good a President as a dog unfit to lick Palin's feet would be?

Obamaaa will never make it a second term although he has campaigned for a second 4 year term since day one of his unearned first election, he is a one term boy, a one term boy, read it and weep losers, it is in the cards for him to only usurp
and deceive America for one term, and one term only, weep losers...

Speaking of rhetoric, it'll be fun to watch the GOP primary candidates squirm at questions about how their rhetoric didn't match their actions one iota when they had power

Personally, I'd rather see each side put up their best people and come up with real solutions instead of seeing them squirm. I view the election process as a serious matter that is vital to the health of our country and not as a spectator sport that's "fun to watch." I go to the movies when I want "fun to watch"

But that's just me.

GOATMAN: This isn't really surprising, is it?

AU: Of course not.

"immoral" because it increases the national debt, which she called "generational theft."

So Saint Reagan and Glorious Leaders Bush the Older and Bush the Minor were immoral as was tricky Dickie and Edsel Ford?

Gee, she's finally got something right. I just wonder why, during her brief stint as Governor, she didn't repay all the immoral socialist money that flowed in to Alaska?

You think a guy with Obama's brains and education isn't as good a President as a dog unfit to lick Palin's feet would be?

I'm not the guy to ask. I can't stand Obama either.

I just wonder why, during her brief stint as Governor, she didn't repay all the immoral socialist money that flowed in to Alaska?

Because as governor, she is supposed to do the will of her constituents. They would not like it if she gave money away.

Are you truly that clueless?

Personally, I'd rather see each side put up their best people and come up with real solutions

I agree.

If the GOP had moderates, more of the solutions would be in action now, but GOP 'solutions' consist of the same 'solutions': 'tax cuts', 'tax cuts', and more 'tax cuts' and repeating the shortest sentence in the English language: NO!.

If the GOP cared about this country a 1/10th as much as they profess they'd be working hand in hand, offering pragmatic solutions and working as the loyal opposition instead of the obstinate opposition.

She is a hypocrite Gutman. Just admit it.

Obama no matter how good his double talk and lying and deception is, HE will never be and forever will never be worthy to lick the feet of my dogs, because they are much smarter and more truthful than he will ever be, period.............

sarah palin is just one succinct example why all the full body scanners in the world will not save america.

sarah palin is just one succinct example why all the full body scanners in the world will not save america.

Huh?

If the GOP had moderates, more of the solutions would be in action now..

Both sides need more moderates. Why expect only one side to move closer to center? They both need to.

#126 | Posted by goatman

The irony is Palin's in that camp of 'too much federal spending', but accepts Federal tax dollars at a higher rate per capita than any other state (when they didn't need it), then gave oil revenue sharing checks to Alaskans instead of declining the federal money.

She was for the "Bridge to Nowhere" before she was against it. She was for taking Wasilla millions into the hole with a sports center before she was against big spending. More examples too...

Can't have it both ways without looking like an utter hypocrite.

Gutman than why aren't you a moderate?

Both sides need more moderates. Why expect only one side to move closer to center? They both need to.

#132 | Posted by goatman

Dems have plenty of moderates and POV. GOP doesn't want moderates. Even campaign against their own moderate candidates. Going on right now in several states. Ask Charlie Crist in Florida ...

But, I agree, moderates are a good thing. Wish the GOP felt the same way.

Can't have it both ways without looking like an utter hypocrite.

You're preaching to the choir again. Other than the gams, I've no interest in what Sarah has to offer.

Wish the GOP felt the same way.

I wish both parties felt the same way

Obama is screwed then

The GOP are right, further right, and further right of that. NO moderates left. They chased Spector to the Dems, they beat their own in NY-23, they're fighting moderate Charlie Crist in Florida, and the list goes on ...

Dems are making no such efforts to destroy moderates in their party. Mark Warner, Jim Webb, Evan Bayh .. and many more 'moderates' in the Dems. All the GOP moderates are gone from Spector to Hagel to Danforth .. and many more.

wow. So this is what the American people are presented with? This is the movement that so audaciously took the name "Tea Party" as if the Boston Tea Party of olde were a bunch of insufferable slackjawed, window licking twits spreading their bile and villainy.

Wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

Being stuck in a 1960's image of the Democratic Party means you've missed the 90's and 00's. There are very few true blue 'Kennedy liberals' left, although to hear the right tell it, they all are.

Blinded and Deafened by the Red Light

If you are using 'red light' as in 'red state', I would have to disagree. I have been just as critical of the republicans as the democrats. I have been maintaining all along that both parties need to change. I have said Palin isn't a fit candidate. I have always said I disliked Bush as president. I have been consistent in my negative views of Rush and Glenn beck. I have said that the both sides need to move towards the center.

Yet I've yet to hear a single discouraging word about the democrats come from you. Not one. You didn't agree with me that both sides need to move to the center, only the republicans. Are you sure it's not you blinded by the blue light, my friend? Given my opinion of the republcan party, how can you say I am blinded by red light and given your stance how can you pretend you're not blinded by blue light? I'm not sure I understand what you base this 'red light' statement on.

Dems are making no such efforts to destroy moderates in their party.

I guess Joe Lieberman doesn't count.

Loserman is a traitor that needs to be deported to Israel.

Yet I've yet to hear a single discouraging word about the democrats come from you. Not one.

OK.

-Harry Reid should not be Senate Majority leader. It should be Dick Durbin.

-I didn't like Lieberman being allowed to keep his chairmanships after campaigning for McCain

-I didn't think it was a good idea for Obama to give Congress the keys to write health care legislation, but after Hillary I can understand why.

-They should have blasted the GOP from the get go on obstructionism at every turn instead of being so cordial.

-I didn't like the 'moderate' Dems hijacking the health care bill and caving into big insurance and gutting what would have been a good health care bill and giving up a public option that 57-77% of Americans supported in every credible poll.

-I don't like them letting the right wing get away with all the ridiculous accusations and hypocritical rhetoric instead of patient cordiality.

-I don't like allowing bailed out Wall Street banks and firms to pay out multimillion dollar bonuses.

Other than that, they're trying to do what I voted for them to do, albeit with obstructionist tactics from 100% of Republicans. Then there's Lieberman, who should be voted out of office next time he's up.

I guess Joe Lieberman doesn't count.

I've always been curious about something. When Republicans vote 100% along party lines, they are being obstructionists but when the democrats vote 100% along party lines, the label is not applied. Why is that?

Then there's Lieberman, who should be voted out of office next time he's up.

So much for democrats not wanting to destroy the moderates in their party !

Conservative House Democrats:

The term is so subjective, it is meaningless. Remember that I, who you say is blinded by the red light, is considered a bleeding heart liberal amongst my co-workers. LOL

The list of moderate Democratic Senators is long, but gathering them from various websites would take too long, but off the top of my head here are a few:

Webb
Baucus
Udall
Warner
Dorgan
Nelson
Bennett
Bayh
Pryor
Landrieu
Tester
Conrad
Lincoln
Lieberman

May I now see as list of moderate House and Senate Republicans? It'll be very short. I guarantee it. Sad.

Yes, I know.

"Liberal" is a 1960's definition.

I'll make it easy on you. Name 10 socially moderate Republicans serving in either chamber. Can you? I'll save you the time.

Snowe
Susan Collins

"The Senate once was a comfortable home for GOP centrists, with household names like John Warner of Virginia, Alan Simpson of Wyoming, John and Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, and three Oregonians: Bob Packwood, Mark Hatfield, and Gordon Smith.

Another moderate, Jim Jeffords of Vermont, famously defected from the GOP in 2001 and restyled himself an independent. Jeffords declined to run again in 2006. Snowe felt the 2006 losses personally; she carried Maine handily with 74 percent of the vote, but two neighbors in the Senate's Russell Building went down, Mike DeWine of Ohio and Lincoln Chafee. And when Oregon voters threw Smith out in 2008, the three states on America's "Left Coast" lost the only GOP senator they had. "It's devastating, really, when you look at the totality of the picture and the imbalance it has created in our party," Snowe says. "Somebody wrote to me recently and said, 'If Republicans don't watch out, we'll have the smallest tent in history for a political party.' "

www.usnews.com

So, GOATMAN,

The GOP has just about cleaned house of all centrists but for Snowe and Collins - both from Maine. Other than that, nada, zip, zero.

May I now see as list of moderate House and Senate Republicans? It'll be very short.

That would be your subjective view, but since you lean well left of center, it is not surprising your list of moderate republicans would be short, just as your list of moderate democrats is long. It's all relative. Ask anyone on my rig where I stand politically. LOL

Oh...and it's all relative. Ask anyone on my rig.

The two Senators from Maine are about it, maybe Brown.

When Republicans vote 100% along party lines, they are being obstructionists but when the democrats vote 100% along party lines, the label is not applied. Why is that?

The difference of voting FOR a bill that will move the country forward like regulating out-of-control Wall Street, children's' health insurance, health insurance reform that would benefit everyone but insurance companies, equal rights for women in the workplace, and the GOP voting AGAINST everything and anything that would help average citizens in this country.

Shelby's tantrum about pork and holding up 70 Obama administration nominees is only that personified in one man.

The health insurance reform measure was twisted, turned, and a 1001 lies told about it by the GOP until few understood it would benefit every single person in this country with and without insurance. Right wing noise machine at work just to hand Obama a defeat by any means necessary in most legislation.

Oh...and it's all relative. Ask anyone on my rig.

My point exactly.

They're aren't any moderate Republicans...

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but as you pointed out, it's all relative, so there is no way you can make an absolute statement pertaining political positions on the spectrum, making your "translation" meaningless.

"but as you pointed out, it's all relative"

Feel free to list all the moderate Rs you can. Plenty of bandwidth.

"making your "translation" meaningless."

Translation: Damn, you hit me where I live!

That would be your subjective view, but since you lean well left of center

There you go again offering your subjective view. I"m socially liberal and fiscally moderate. Kind of like you profess to be. I want the government out of our private lives, and I want fiscal responsibility.

Yours is the subjective view among the two of us.

That list of House 'centrists' is not in dispute among Democratic leadership, and as the article I posted the Olympia Snowe quote from, neither is the list of 'centrist' Republicans incorrect. Two. Count 'em, two. House members? Can't think of one.

What they're doing in Florida to Charlie Crist and what they did to Scozzafava in NY-23 recently tells you all you need to know about where the GOP's head is at regarding 'centrists'.

I rest my case .....

OK, GOAT

Name ONE socially moderate Republican in the House. Just one.

And, besides Snowe and Collins, name one other 'centrist' Republican in the Senate.

Take your time. I'll check back on Tuesday

Translation: Damn, you hit me where I live!

I live on the rig only 50% of the time, actually.

Feel free to list all the moderate Rs you can. Plenty of bandwidth.

Moderation is relative. You may disagree with my list, and probably would. Also, I don't pretend to be familiar enough with all the republican members of congress to form such a list

There you go again offering your subjective view

Exactly. It wouldn't make much sense for me to offer someone else's subjective view, would it?

Yours is the subjective view among the two of us.

Everyone's view is subjective. To claim to hold the absolute reference point is kind of arrogant, IMO. No one can say, "My frame of reference is the absolute one". It's what Einstein would say if he had been a political animal. LOL

Also, I don't pretend to be familiar enough with all the republican members of congress to form such a list

But you are informed enough to call my lists 'subjective'? Hmmm

A submariner doesn't dive into a conversation about the ocean's depths without either having broken the surface himself of knowing what's under the water.

I study this stuff. I'm a political junkie from way back. I know my facts.

FRIENDLY SUGGESTIN: Probably best to educate yourself before attempting to discuss the political leanings of Congressmen or the current makeup of political parties until you do. As a former high school debate team member surely you know you don't jump into a debate without being armed with facts rather than presumptions, right?

Yeah, that was the only mistake I heard.

I guess you haven't heard Barry speak without a teleprompter much.

It was a "ok" speech. Not as many UH UH UH's as Barry but I get her message.

"Moderation is relative."

Translation: I can't think of a single moderate Republican.

Also, I don't pretend to be familiar enough with all the republican members of congress to form such a list

Or to dispute mine either, right? I even provided quotes from one of the two 'centrist' Republicans left in the Senate. If you won't take her word for it it's all your opinions - which are meaningless in a debate about facts.

I wasn't even on the high school debate team, but knowing what little I do I know about debates from being a casual observer one must have a grasp of the facts to make a cogent case. I'm armed.

What more can you say about the current makeup of Republicans in the Senate but what a 'centrist' Republican IN the Senate has to say about it? Or recent history of 'centrist' Republicans forced out of office, run out of primaries by their own right wing, or forced to retire out of fear of right wing blood lust?

For starters, GOATMAN, scroll up and read the linked quote by Olympia Snowe I took the time to find and post. It doesn't get easier than that, does it?

" NYT Shocker: Sarah Palin 'As Big a Celebrity as Princess Di'"

newsbusters.org

HERE. You don't even have to scroll up (italics and bold mine):

"The Senate once was a comfortable home for GOP centrists, with household names like John Warner of Virginia, Alan Simpson of Wyoming, John and Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, and three Oregonians: Bob Packwood, Mark Hatfield, and Gordon Smith.

Another moderate, Jim Jeffords of Vermont, famously defected from the GOP in 2001 and restyled himself an independent. Jeffords declined to run again in 2006. www.usnews.com

But you are informed enough to call my lists 'subjective'? Hmmm

As I pointed out everything is subjective. I don't need a list to know that. No one sets the absolute political reference.

I study this stuff. I'm a political junkie from way back. I know my facts.

Indeed you do. A lot more than I. That is one thing I like about reading your posts. However, you do not draw the line that says, "this side is left and this side is right". That is not a testament to your political insight which is great, it is simply a fact that it is all relative. If not, my rigmates would think I am as right wing as you think I am. But they don't. That's doesn't mean either you nor they are wrong -- it's just that y'all have different frames of reference. No big deal.

Translation: I can't think of a single moderate Republican.

Yea, I caught that translation the first time, dano.

You seem testy tonight -- more so than usual. What gives?

PSST: Spector was forced to switch parties when the GOP turned on him - a moderate. Crist - a moderate - is getting crapped on by the right wing. They ran Scozzafava out of the NY-23 race - a moderate.

Snowe says. "Somebody wrote to me recently and said, 'If Republicans don't watch out, we'll have the smallest tent in history for a political party.'

Compare that to the diversity of the Democratic Party and tell us how truthful statements are like 'Dems bow to their masters', etc. Most Republican's noses are digging holes they're bowing so low in submission to the right wing. If you don't? "OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"

In closing, the rightie meme is patently false and ridiculous on too many levels to count. FACTS are the enemy of today's right wing Republican Party.

And people have switched from Democrat to Republican. All you do is reinforce my point that there is no discernable difference in the two parties.

A lot more than I.

I've found the perfect girl for you, Goat. Don't know many who can top you when it comes to always using correct grammar. If I had to think it through whether or not my grammar was perfect every time I spoke, it would be a lot quieter around here. You must have sailed through English 101.

As I pointed out everything is subjective.

GOATMAN

No, it isn't.

$10 Trillion dollars is $10 Trillion dollars.

2 Republican Senate moderates is 2 Republican Senate moderates.

You're more than welcome to come up with ONE more name if you can. You can do it in the time it takes to dispute someone else's facts :-)

The defections, forced retirements because of right wing noisemakers, and right wing bloodlust against 'centrists' in today's GOP is well documented and more than you could read going 24 hours a day for 3 weeks at a time. I don't pull stuff out of my ears and claim it's fact. I've been studying politics and keeping up with current events since I was a teenager.

It's been sad watching the GOP turn into a party of raving lunatics who don't want varied views. Hell, it started years ago with Newt. Tom Delay forced out a couple dozen 'centrist' GOP House members. That threat continues today under John Boehner. "No tow the party line no RCC funds for your campaign. Hell, we'll just run another Republican against you and get someone who will bow down and toe the line".

The Dems today obviously are open to varied views within the party. It's been all over the front pages for a year with the health care debate. Even Stupek's pro-life language in the House bill.

All you do is reinforce my point that there is no discernable difference in the two parties.

Facts belie your 'point'. Ideologically, the parties are different, of course.

Do both parties welcome varied points of view? Hell, no. I've spent an hour posting articles, names, and facts presenting my case the GOP does not welcome centrists anymore - 'centrists' being something you expressed as your preference. Something the Democrats have plenty of.

You're a good guy, GOATMAN. I'll just agree to disagree with you unless and until you can arm yourself with at least a smattering of facts before attempting debate. I've presented the facts as they're wildly available. Use 'em for tuna bait for all that it matters LOL

When you say the Rep party doesn't have centrists... how are you defining "centrist?" Pro choice, increasing gov't spending? How?

In my view the Rep party, indeed, has centrists. Plenty of them. We've gotten our collective butts whipped these past few election cycles because we've spent like Dems and turned a blind eye to immigration.

It took the shellacking we got in 2008 to (hopefully) reach a point where we need to collectively say, as a party, do we want to govern as conservatives or go along with Dems? Because for too long there wasn't much difference (beside military issues) between the parties.

OOHRAH

Two 'centrist' GOP Senators left in the Senate. Even Snowe commented on how small the GOP tent was. The party's been chasing out centrists for quite awhile.

I won't type the rest, my comments above reference just about everything I have to say on the topic.

BTW, thank for always being such a gentleman on here. You do your party and your faith a service. The nasty trolls on this site - Chairborne, Wisgod, Cookfish, etc - who have no problems, for instance, trolling a days old post to crack cancer jokes about my sister who just died and are a pain in the you-know-what to half the posters on this site.

What a stupid comment. I watched Obama speak to the GOP without any teleprompter and he handed them their ass. I saw him speak without a teleprompter to the Democrats and it was quite good. I watched him in the debates, no teleprompter, and guess who won? I watched him in the rallies without a teleprompter.

This meme is one of the most stupid things I've seen the right seize.

As to Palin, she'll be fact checked. I caught half a dozen outright lie.s The same ones the GOP had previously tried to pass on that were all shot down or even ridiculed by producing video that clearly indicates they (the GOP) were flat out lying.

"The sad truth is that Obama is a horrible President, and the Republicans have nothing to offer."

NO the sad truth is that you listen to the propaganda, not based on fact, that Obama is a horrible president. When any fair minded person looks at the situation he inherited and how he has dealt with it he appears to be a very good president and one of the most forgiving men I have ever seen. The abuse from the right that has been directed at him is disgusting and Sarah Palin is one of the worst. I shudder to think where we would be today if John McCain would have won the last election. To think that Palin would have been a heart beat away from the Oval Office is a frightening thought. America dodged a bullet in that election.

"Why are libs abscessed with Palin. It must be like having a sore tooth."

Projection, something idiot wingers are famous for (really sad)

I often think what exactly is the hostility towards Obama based on.

A stimulus package?

An attempt to pass health care reform? He has incorporated many of the changes conservatives wanted.

most of the rest of his policies are stuff that mccain would have done, increased afghanistan forces, bomb terrorists, etc.

ok you have aproblem with some of his policies, fine, but its not like hs allowed an attack on us like 9/11 ignored NO during Katrina and started a war based on lies.

America dodged a bullet in that election.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that a national political figure would advocate against the rule of law?

If MSNBC and its rabid band of DNC supporters REALLY want to help their cause, they will down play Sarah rhetoric, maybe not mention her at all and let her hang herself.

Unfortunately, that pathetic pack of ideological fools at that wanna-be network are so pathologically ideological, they will probably devote hours of airtime uselessly nit-picking her unremarkable remarks. Unfortunately, Sarah is so made to order for Keith's , Ed's and Rachel's mindless rants that that sorry crowd are probably drooling right now in anticipation of next week's shows. God help us all.

Palin/Bachmann '12, please. I believe installing a stripper pole in the Oval Office would really complete the mise en scene for our resident bearded bleater.

Relax, fence-sitter...it's your meme, I'm just running with it. If you find that thick-brick, nasal-toned snowbillie attractive, then you've been on the rig waaaaay too long. :)

But enough politics...it's Snoozer Bowl Sunday! If the Saints don't put a couple of serious hats on Manning by halftime, they're toast and those of us looking for something resembling a real contest will have to fire up the Playstation and play the rest of game on Madden '10 just to keep from falling asleep.

That's right, and I will always decry vote manipulation, election fraud and candidates being APPOINTED by their daddy's scotus cronys, who stopped a recount deemed legal by that state's Fla supreme court, despite getting half a million less American's votes.....

Didn't stop me from voting, though I had never waited longer than a half hour to vote previously. With a dem sec of state in 2008, I only waited 15 mins.....

Why do neocon repug supporters hate our government and honest elections?

. I stood in line in the rain for over three hours in 04, some for 6 hours

Where was that, woke. I never heard any stories on the news about people waiting for 6 hours to vote. I heard other stories about people waiting for 3 hours. I wonder why the six hour waits weren't reported on the news when the three hour ones were?

Apparently, you do not care....

Apparently you can't read. Please show me where I said or implied that. You can't? What a surprise. Chalk up yet another lie for woke! LOL

Why do statist supporters hate ... honest elections?

Sorry for you goatman.....you'll have to continue your little disgusting rant for dishonest elections with someone else......

Goat,
You are just a miserable little troll turd that stalks me every time I post on this board.
You have this pathological need to stand up for the Moosefart every time someone mentions her name. (How the hell do you get an internet connection from your little nest up her backside, anyhow? Cat 5? Wireless? Bluetooth?)
You are more obsessed by 'racist' threads than poor Snippy is by 'gay' threads. You sound like a holocaust denier when you scream 'reverse racist' and sundry bullshit.
You claim not to be a Rtard but every post you make screams teabagging Glen Beck parrot.
And we are still laughing at you for all those oil company shill posts you made saying the cost of production was what caused gasoline prices to be nearly $5.00 a gallon back then. That was a real hoot!!!!!
And don't get us started on your BBOB obsession. Please!!!!

No One Should Have to Stand in Line for 10 Hours to Vote

By ADAM COHEN
Published: August 25, 2008
Everyone complains that young people don't vote, but consider the experience of students at Kenyon College in Ohio in the 2004 election. Officials in Knox County, Ohio, provided just two voting machines for the school's 1,300 voters. Some students waited in line for 10 hours, and the last bleary-eyed voter did not cast a ballot until nearly 4 a.m.

That same day in Columbus, voters in black neighborhoods waited as long as four hours, often in the rain. Many voters there and in other urban areas including Toledo and Youngstown left their overcrowded polling places in disgust, or because they could not wait any longer, without casting a ballot. In many of Ohio's white-majority suburbs, the lines were far shorter.

Troubles in Ohio drew the greatest attention in 2004, but that state was hardly alone. There were complaints of long lines in other states, including Colorado, Michigan and Florida, where elderly voters endured waits in blistering heat.

I was in Ohio on Election Day 2004. The night before the voting, rumors spread that there would be a major effort by Republican operatives to challenge the registrations of voters in majority-black precincts. Those large-scale challenges did not materialize. But tens of thousands of votes were suppressed by something so mundane that no one thought to focus on it: long lines.

In Columbus, as many as 15,000 people left the polls without voting, many because of long lines. At a postelection hearing, a Youngstown pastor estimated that 8,000 black voters there did not cast ballots because of a machine shortage.

2. Just because YOU never bothered to research the voter waits in Ohio and other states doesn't mean they didn't occur. It just shows that for you out of sight=out of mind.....ie...you are ignorant of the facts....

Right. You were laughing at someone having to stand in line for 3 hours to VOTE thanks to a repug sec of state relegating voting machines out of dem districts.....insuring the 04 election was manipulated....then you claimed no one stood for 6 hours and that I could not prove they did. And after I did prove that, you cannot admit you were wrong.....

You can twist and spin as you always do...but I have once again shown you to be the little person you are.....both in regard to you laughing at election manipulation and that you are uneducated about that manipulation and claimed it never occurred and wasn't covered by the media....though it was.....

Just as you claimed your 91 Jeep was an "American" made car, though it was made in CANADA, you are WRONG, but cannot admit it.

But don't worry, I don't expect you to EVER admit when you are shown to be wrong.....it's obvious that isn't in your repetoire of actions.....which is why you are so pathetically challenged.

And also, why it is always fruitless to engage in any kind of debate with a person who cannot admit they are wrong, even when it's obvious.

Though I won't bother showing any more posts that catch you in your lies and delusions......

Kudos for the honesty. You said "posts" as when you took two of mine, cherry picked some words, re-assembled them and claim I said the newly formed thought/sentence.

Thanks for the rare display of honesty

I'm a huge Sarahcuda fan.. I think she is terrific, but, Wouldnt it have been funny if on her hand she wrote "Obama bad, Me good"

Oh, you mean like when you said ALL your cars were American, in some fkd up attempt to prove how patriotic you are?

Then, when shown your 91 Jeep was made in CANADA, you then try to pretend Canada is America.

Like that?

Or is it when you claim the media never documented any voter's having to wait longer than 3 hours, though the record is replete with much longer waits? But still you refuse to acknowledge you were WRONG, even when shown proof?

Like that, you mean?

You just aren't too bright eh? And, not too many people who are unable to admit when they are wrong are very bright.....it kinda goes hand in hand....if a person cannot or will not admit their mistakes and wrongs, they cannot improve themselves or become educated.

That seems to sum up your existence, at least here on DR.....eh?

"when my jeeps were MADE"

When your 91 Jeep was "MADE", it was MADE in CANADA, not America.

Then, you try to pretend Canada IS America, because it's in North America, though not the country America.....

Admit it and stop tap dancing buddy......you must be getting dizzy.

Then, you can admit you were WRONG in saying that the "news" never noted any voter waits longer than 3 hours in the 2004 election as you did on this thread, post # 238.

Care to correct the record and admit you have been schooled on both subjects.....???

1. Your 91 Jeep was made in Canada

2. Some folks waited much longer than 3 hours to vote in the 2004 elections (up to 10 hours) because repug sec of states mis-allocated voting machines......

Go ahead, admit you are wrong on both of these issues.

You actually might feel better about yourself and no longer feel the need to attack the messenger who corrected your misinformation/lack of education.

you claimed your Jeep was "made" in America.

And we still wait for you to link to the post I said that. We know you can't make the link since I never said it but keep repeating it Herr Goebbels.

Defend him if you must, but even left wingers here have expressed their disgust with him and his lies, so I know I am not alone in recognizing his slime and know it is not a partisan thing.

Everyone's view is subjective. To claim to hold the absolute reference point is kind of arrogant, IMO. No one can say, "My frame of reference is the absolute one".

They werenn't when my jeeps were made. As I said, I've never owned anything but American cars.

Regardless of how many times you try, you cannot take back the posts in which you CLAIM ALL your cars were "American", which is in fact as much of a LIE as pretending you never claimed you've "never owned anything but American cars".

Sorry Goatman, but YOUR OWN words prove you wrong.

Then there is the hypocrisy of attempting to make yourself sound patriotic because you only buy "American" cars......while denigrating decorated, triple amputee war vets based on politics.....

And the hypocrisy of attempting to point out OTHERS support of you and dissing of me, while also pointing out that using that tack to prove oneself right is not valid.....

"WE are all amazed"
"even left wingers"

>>
"Everyone's view is subjective"

"the pathetic "everyone knows this about you" responses........ are a clear indication that desperation is setting in"

LMFAO @ YOU buddy.....and I don't need anyone else to confirm it cause your hypocrisy is right there in your own posts, eh?

Have a nice day, time to shovel snow again for me.....while you will continue to shovel your own BS around here in DR, no doubt.

Still nothing, Herr lilaWoke?

The posts are getting longer -- more desperate, I see. Keep trying. LOL

Have a nice day, time to shovel snow again for me.....
