Iraq's Ministry for Human Rights will file a lawsuit against Britain and the US over their use of depleted uranium bombs in Iraq, an Iraqi minister says. Iraq's Minister of Human Rights, Wijdan Mikhail Salim, told Assabah newspaper that the lawsuit will be launched based on reports from the Iraqi ministries of science and the environment. According to the reports, during the first year of the US and British invasion of Iraq, both countries had repeatedly used bombs containing depleted uranium. According to Iraqi military experts, the US and Britain bombed the country with nearly 2,000 tons of depleted uranium bombs during the early years of the Iraq war.

Mission Accomplished!

They now know the 'merican way.

Japan will be next in line, and so will bikinni Atoll and countless others that live in the U.S.

Lets see how this plays out, Im sure some partisan hack will beg for forgiveness.Due to the Almightly U.S. being such an unforgiving monster. If it all works out,Maybe Iran and the Kurds and stick it to Iraq. For poison it spread thur those countries with bombs. Those with who without " use of NBC weapons" cast the first stone.

We invaded Iraq and killed many thousands of innocent people for what specific reason again?

Was it because Bush neocons thought that removal of Saddam would be good for Israel? Was it because they fabricated intelligence about WMDS that was totally false, just as they are now doing in Iran? Was it so the people in Iraq could have purple fingers and vote and we could proclaim it a democracy?

Depleted uranium shells are causing massive pollution and harm. The fools in Israel are even using the stuff on their next door neighbors in Gaza on lands that they want to steal.

Tough shit

That will make us safer! No wonder they hate us liberaters. It will be a non-issue by...now.

You simpletons that think this is "Bush's war" and that Bush "manufactured WMD's" seem to forget that the vast majority of democrats were also misled by the "evidence" of WMD's and authorized the use of force in Iraq. As were coalition nations that believed Saddam Husein's saber rattling.

The pollution caused during the "liberation" of Iraq is a non-issue. Maybe we can counter-sue Iraq to recoup the cost of ridding them of Saddam, for providing security, clearing mines, re-engineering and rebuilding their oil distribution systems, and sacrificing our soldiers for their freedom.

cause baby jesus told Dubya to do it.

, "for providing security, clearing mines, re-engineering and rebuilding their oil distribution systems, and sacrificing our soldiers for their freedom.'

Seems the Iraqi people were more secure before the Cowboy Clown interfered. Nobody stepping on mines, no IEDs, no alqueda,no suicide bombers. But perhaps, using your logic, the Germans could sue the jews for relieving them of the costs of child raising and eldercare and them getting their own country...

I don't recollect the Iraqis ever requesting us or the UN to invade their country and create a massive decade long war that has killed many and created great harm to their country and will kill even more because of the lasting pollution.

That invasion was George W. Bush and his scheming neocon traitors' decision. They stole billions in Iraq that are now unaccounted for just like the NYC bankers who have also plundered this nation's treasury for their gain.

NORTHGUY and ROBSON:

Maybe we should ask the Kurds? How about the families of those tortured and killed during Saddam's brutal rein?

The freedom they have now is as precious to Iraqi's as ours is to us, despite the cost to achieve it.

Depleted Treasury -> Courtesy of Bush/Clinton/Obama Crime Families!

Yes the Bush CorpoRat/Zionist/Fascists stole many $Billions from Iraq but to be fair they theived even more in America from the U.S.Taxpayers by way of 911,the Patriot Act,Iraq War,the Pentagon Swindle, not to mention Enron,AIG and the Big Banksters Bailout!!!

As it sands Iaq might win their lawsuit on the use of poisonous depleted uranium but very soon theres going to be "No Funds" left in the "Depleted" US Treasury - the Bush/Clinton/Obama Crime Families are busy seeing to that!

And once again, the selective memory of Bush haters is astounding.

and the romans salted the ground...

NYC bankers who have also plundered this nation's treasury for their gain.

Your kidding me right. Jamie Dimon, Sandi Weill, Steve Cohen, Ron Burkle, George Soros, Marc Lasry all all major players on n Wall Street and ar all Dems. I could go on and on. I didn't even mention Robert Rubin, Jon Corzine, and all the Dems at the top of the food chain at Goldman.

As far as Enron go, they are credited as the first corp to lobby for trading carbon credits

Can OBAMA help us out of this mess???

So maybe losing that war will cost us $4 trillion instead of $3 trillion. Oh what the hell, we can afford it.

So what happens to our people that have been exposed to it while serving over there? Will this turn into another Agent Orange scenario like we went through in Vietnam? And what about their offspring that have been deformed because of their exposure to this depleted uranium?

Oh, I forgot. They are just assets, expendable at that. As long as the accounting ledger is in the black, and profits are up for any given quarter, I guess anyone that is not in the business of producing these weapons is expendable.

And as a side, who comes up with these silly names? Depleted uranium? Is it supposed to make it sound safer? I prefer the good old fashioned radioactive, toxic, unsafe to handle without protective clothing prefix myself.

DU have a half life of 35 million years.
It is already floating around in the upper atmosphere, and yes it is already infecting all of us.
It is passed thru sperm to the next generation. It destroys DNA.
It causes cancer, and many other diseases.

Horror Of US Depleted
Uranium In Iraq Threatens World
American Use Of DU is "A crime against humanity which may, in
the eyes of historians, rank with the worst atrocities of all time."
US Iraq Military Vets "are on DU death row, waiting to die."

"I'm horrified. The people out there - the Iraqis, the media and the troops - risk the most appalling ill health. And the radiation from depleted uranium can travel literally anywhere. It's going to destroy the lives of thousands of children, all over the world. We all know how far radiation can travel. Radiation from Chernobyl reached Wales and in Britain you sometimes get red dust from the Sahara on your car."

The speaker is not some alarmist doom-sayer. He is Dr. Chris Busby, the British radiation expert, Fellow of the University of Liverpool in the Faculty of Medicine and UK representative on the European Committee on Radiation Risk, talking about the best-kept secret of this war: the fact that, by illegally using hundreds of tons of depleted uranium (DU) against Iraq, Britain and America have gravely endangered not only the Iraqis but the whole world.

'Depleted' uranium is in many ways a misnomer. For 'depleted' sounds weak. The only weak thing about depleted uranium is its price. It is dirt cheap, toxic, waste from nuclear power plants and bomb production. However, uranium is one of earth's heaviest elements and DU packs a Tyson's punch, smashing through tanks, buildings and bunkers with equal ease, spontaneously catching fire as it does so, and burning people alive. 'Crispy critters' is what US servicemen call those unfortunate enough to be close. And, when John Pilger encountered children killed at a greater distance he wrote: "The children's skin had folded back, like parchment, revealing veins and burnt flesh that seeped blood, while the eyes, intact, stared straight ahead. I vomited." (Daily Mirror)

Yeah, tough shit for our troops who handled these poisons......

As with Agent Orange, it will take a repeated and continuous effort by war veterans belonging to a small group who actually cares about these issues to get some attention to this issue. If not for VVAW, Agent Orange and PTSD would still be ignored by the VA and Congress.

These weapons were first used in Gulf War I and the affected vets and victims are still being ignored. Just the 'merican way", eh Jimmy?

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Oh no! Will I ever have dry underwear? The Iraqis are going to sue us! Perhaps we should pay em off and leave that rat hole, sounds cheaper than staying any longer!

It's weird people care SO MUCH about the Iraqi people that we went over there and Lib'rated from that monster Saddam. (that we all but created)

How could those ungrateful bastards have the nerve the NERVE to point out that by the way your DU rounds are killing us and poisoning the very ground.

More and more I realize what a farce it all is.

I guess it is our answer to recycling. Take toxic waste and make munitions out of it. (Just as long as we don't use it here...) Take toxic financial tools and dump it on the rest of the world to prop up our financial markets. If only we could do it without hurting, maiming and generally messing up the rest of the planet. But I am dreaming...

Wow, on seeing the headline I figured that this would be a magnet for the usual crazies (NG3, Woke, JimmyW, AntiC) but it is also bringing out a new crop.

Well done Skidmark!
