Illinois Democratic lieutenant governor nominee Scott Lee Cohen faces calls to step aside over allegations of domestic abuse, failing to pay child support and spending lavishly on extramarital affairs. State Attorney General Lisa Madigan said Cohen's "extreme character flaws are an insult to the people of Illinois" and called on him to step down immediately.

Scott Lee Who?

Thank the FSM fer wiki...

Early in his campaign, Cohen disclosed his 2005 arrest for domestic abuse involving his girlfriend at the time (who had been arrested for prostitution six months earlier). However, his running mate, Governor Pat Quinn; U.S. Senator Dick Durbin; Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan; and Illinois Treasurer and 2010 Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias have called for Cohen to drop out of the race.[6][7][8][9] Cohen, who spent over $2 million of his own wealth on the primary contest, has responded that he has no intention of withdrawing.[10] Cohen stated he did not know at the time that the girlfriend, who worked as a massage therapist, had been arrested for prostitution, and did not believe she was guilty. He stated her call to the police was in retaliation for his having had her arrested earlier for trashing his apartment. His ex-wife has refused to answer specific questions about charges raised during their divorce, citing ongoing legal proceedings.[11]

Sounds like a no-brainer that this guy should drop out of the race.

On the other hand it sounds like he would make an interesting subject fer a reality teevee series.

Be Well.

Seems like the sterotypical thug from the Chicago Democratic machine.

He won, let him run.

Maybe this is a premonition that the American people are finally wising up and getting sick of these pathetic people representing them---maybe we'll get rid of the mentality "character doesn't matter".

Another fine example of vetting the candidate or nominee before being voted on!

Danni approves.... she doesn't look at moral character in the candidates personal lives. It has no relevence.

Being that Mr. Cohen will get thousands of votes from "dead people" he more than likely will win.

The Chicago Daly Dem machine will keep a hummin along!

Elect first, vet later.

Seems to be the trend lately.

Danni didn't even post in this thread!

Oh, wait....... Chicago. ............. showing up at the polls is secondary ....

never mind

Ah... what, exactly, is the roll of the press?

I live across the lake from Chicago and heard several people call into the radio shows saying that they were repubs but voted for Quin (sp?) and this guy so that there would be a weak dem ticket to run against the repub ticket.

SAWDUST

Wisgod and Chairborne claim to have voted for Cynthia McKinney. JAK claiming (I think) he voted for Hillary in Texas. How'd that work out for them? Permanent purple fingers? LOL
