1. A Baptist or Pentecostal church

2. A convenience store

3. A gas station

4. Church's, KFC, Popeye's or a local fried chicken joint

I go to the wet market to pick out my bird. They'll kill it, pluck it and chop it how I want, to be cooked at home.

Or they will fry it for me while I wait.

BTW, there's a reason it's called the 'wet' market. Ain't nothing quite like watching someone kill and chop up a bird and then hand you wet money for change.

Best fried chicken I ever had was from Jack Pyrtils in Memphis. Others swear by Gus's Chicken in Mason, Tenn, which now has a branch in Downtown Memphis

I remember my two weeks in new york...only time I REALLY enjoyed that food was when we went to the famous place in harlem....what was the name of that place???
I was talking to the manager about the signed pictures of charly parker and miles davis and listening to him tell stories about them coming in to eat there and I told him this was the BEST food in the city
what did I have?
easy....fried chicken, collarred greens and some of the best other soul food ever put in my mouth.

White neighborhhods have supermarkets. Black neighborhoods have Korean groceries. White neighborhhods have an ExxonMobil or Shell;Black neighborhoods have a generic independent owned by an indian and you pay a guy behind bullet proof glass.
