Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Last week, the federal government allocated $823,000,000.00 for rail service in Wisconsin to improve 80 miles of track between Milwaukee and Madison. The train will start out at roughly 79 mph when it begins in 2013, and won't reach its top speed of 110 mph for "at least several years."

Look at the governor and the HUD chief high-fiving each other over this. There's nothing more sickening than watching state and local politicians getting aroused over the opportunity to waste federal money.

This gives new meaning to the phrase "gravy train."

A gravy train of fools that is, the taxpayer being the fool.

Yeah, why invest in anything other than oil wells?

We don't have oil wells in Wisconsin, dummy.

The term "invest" suggests you'll be getting something back. There will be no return on the pissing away of this $823,000,000.00.

It's going to end up costing way more than that. This is a boondoggle that Wisconsinites will be paying for forever. Fucking idiots. And the drop off point in Madison is out by the airport. About 8 fucking miles from the Capitol.

Progressives have coopted the term "invest." When they say "invest" they mean government spending money on something. In Michigan they use the phrase "revenue enhancement" in lieu of "tax increases."

What they should do is sell bonds for the project. If touchy-feely libbies want to lend money to build the train, let them. Surely there are enough enviros in Wisconsin to shake down for $800,000,000. Assuming no cost overruns. Assuming passengers eventually show up.

But let them take the losses, and book the profits. That's how it should work.

No shortage of shitheads I see.

I understand that, at times, the FED govt is going to send money out for projects like this but good grief!! It would appear that the Fed govt has no room to piss and moan about budget problems when the engage in stuff like this and furthermore, it is even more revolting that they shake their finders at private industry and the way they run their businesses.

They have no room to talk.

We pissed away the last Stimulus check by putting videi camera's on mass transit buses. I can only guess how many shovel ready jobs that created. No fucking oversight by President Oclueless

But let them take the losses, and book the profits. That's how it should work.

That's no fun. Borrowing $823,000,000.00 from the Chinese and pretending it was free is a lot more enjoyable to guys Obama and Jim Doyle.
