I once was riding the Metro. When the guy next to me found out that I'm an American, he treated me to 20 minutes of blather about how all things French were superior.

It was so annoying that when I got off the subway I walked past several dozen French cafes and went to McD's for a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake.
