Police fired tear gas to chase off thousands of students demonstrating in the Venezuelan capital Thursday, a fifth day of protests against President Hugo Chavez for pressuring cable and satellite TV providers to drop the opposition channel Radio Caracas Television International. Some protesters threw rocks at police in riot gear when officers moved to break up the rally outside the offices of the state-run electricity company. "We are not going to allow continued shutdowns of media outlets that tell the truth, and we are not going to allow ineptitude and inefficiency to continue," said student leader Nizar El Sakih.

Those students need to fall in line like good little sheep..how dare they resist...

Glorious Community Organizer should tell Chavez we'll loan the students our earth quake weapon if he brutalizes them.
Let's send our foreign policy experts, Sean Penn and Danny Glover to help settle the proble,

Must be true:

"Obama Using Public Schools To Recruit Agenda Advancing Interns"
"in an Ohio High School. Her government class passed out this propaganda recruiting paper so students could sign up as interns for Obama's Organizing for America."

More here:

"Obama Organizing in High School"
"Obama is using our public school system to recruit for his Alinsky-inspired private army. Organizing for America is (and I quote) recruiting in our high schools to "build on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda"

Notice how you don't see any more drooling Chavez lovefest posts from Danni or Nulli anymore about this guy?

Those students are just Nazi teabagging rightwingers paid for by the CIA to savotage the glorious socialist government of our illustirous comrade Hugo Chavez.

Sincerely

The Left

Fucking teabaggers!

God damn astroturf is what it is!

Who changed my title?

Viva la libertad!

American liberals, aka communists, like Chavez. It's just his people don't.

Nothing like this will ever happen in America once we get universal health care and free perpetual college.

There could never be even the slightest chance of rolling blackouts or such.

Obama hearts Chavez. Beards of a feather fly together! maybe sean penn can go down there and tell the students how wonderful it is for them to be able to live under a socialist dictator......

Oh and I seem to recall endless posts by Danni saying how much the people liked him. She must really be deaf, because I don't think you could find ONE Venezualan in Miami who felt the same way.

Basically it comes down to this. Don't fuck with people's cable TV!

"We cannot permit this," he said. "The state and the government must impose authority."

Sounds like Obama's SOTU speech!

American liberals, aka communists, like Chavez....

And finally barack tells students to fuck off. he's more concerned about returning Mel Zelaya to power in Honduras then he is about their plight! Remember Iran's demonstrations? Obama doesn't

You are being too generous, he knows nothing about anything.

#18 | Posted by member2586

I'm feeling charitable today.

BTW you Doc know YOU are full of it. When Chavez put down GW at the UN...you and many here applauded.

When he nationalized industries you many here jumped up and down with glee..especially the energy compaanies.

SOCIALISM SOCIALISM SOCIALISM was the chant. Power to the people. Either you have selective memory or your just being disingenuous.

One problem he's experiencing now, is that he took over the electric power companies, and failed to maintain/upgrade their capacity. Rolling blackouts are a fact of life there now

SDave's claim to possess knowledge of what all Venezuelans in Miami do or do not think is as ludicrous as Member's limning of a picture that seeks linkage between Obama and his supporters and Hugo Chavez and the Chavezistas.

I realize, however, that after dragging this country down farther than at any time in recent memory and taking a pummeling in the last election and being able to do nothing beyond playing the obstructionists' game against a political foe you badly underestimated the rhetoric of the Fifties is about all you clowns have left.

I'd love to see a poll of voters in this country in which they were asked to define the terms "communism," "bolshevik," and "socialism." If they're anything like some of our DR regulars the results would make our fellow citizens' poor knowledge of geography look like the utterings of a mapmaker.

But, seriously, rave on. The Base loves it. And we all know that playing to The Base 24/7 works wonders.

"When Chavez put down GW at the UN...you and many here applauded."

No, I didn't, Dave. Which makes you a liar.

Yeah right, the day I lie, is the day you turn into a conservative!

I'm not planning on turning into a conservative. So, if you speak the truth you should have no difficulty backing up your statement, "When Chavez put down GW at the UN...you...applauded."

Othewise, Dave, you're a liar.

Waiting...

Keep digging, Dave. That's something you seem pretty good at...digging a hole for yourself.

False comparison. Teabaggers never had a platform and SHOUTED DOWN TOWN HALL MEETINGS like authentically stupid, profane, indigent trash. If they would have acted civil there would have been support from both sides to their concerns, but that's not what they were after.

Chavez is obviously attempting to follow in the American coup format and shut down all dissenters, particularly their media. This is at his peril.

I would have believed that you, as a teabagger would be proud of his actions!?

#6 | Posted by member2586 at 2010-01-31 03:44 PM

I'm sorry, that came across as personal. It's so frustrating being blamed for something that I never did or thought - although you are partially right in the CIA involvement. My conspiracy mindedness does not allow for coincidences.

These students ought to be shot.

Or can you? How can one do historical searches that far back on the DR???

Like anybody can go back to Sept 2006 and pull what was said...

So you're a liar?

But we already knew that, didn't we, Dave?

Which side is Barry on?

If I were Chavez I would smash dissent with flame throwers and other incendiary devices.

"Oh and I seem to recall endless posts by Danni saying how much the people liked him."

You can pretend that is what I said but the truth would be closer to my just stating the fact that opportunities for people like Chavez only happen when the ruling aristocracy is so greedy with the state owned oil that the majority of the country lived in dire poverty. Now the pendulum is shifting back away from him because of his dictatorial rule but I doubt that even the students really want to return the country to the minority who benefited for decades from the state owned oil fields.
I believe I also reacted to the idea we ought to assasinate Chavez put forth by ??? Pat Robertson???

If I were Chavez I would smash dissent with flame throwers and other incendiary devices.

Nixon would be proud of Nully, 4 dead in Caracas!

This is one is not so funny:

www.youtube.com

Chavez in a paranoid xenophobic rant tells Americans to go to hell and other niceties. This is the illustrious hero of the izquierda.

All Chavez has to do is grant them all terminal degrees.

Um, you know, like PhD, MD, etc., not DRT degrees

Nothing like this will ever happen in America once we get universal health care and free perpetual college.

There could never be even the slightest chance of rolling blackouts or such.

We already had rolling blackouts, in California, while Enron raped PG&E. Remember?

"While charging that the government is trying to curb criticism, the students also used their demonstration to call attention to electricity shortages plaguing much of Venezuela and other pressing domestic problems like double-digit inflation"

This is what happens when you nationalize and spend more than what you have. Like we are doing today.

You want to see what the US would look like in 10 years if Obama and the Democrats would have kept the MASS senate seat? - Look no further than Venezuela. Once prosperous, civilized and trending up in the world - it has now imploded ..just like will be happening to us. Adding Government jobs does not add jobs in the long run..it only adds overheads that must be paid for out of the economy by those businesses that really create jobs. Every Government job takes 2 jobs out of the regular economy...this is why the last depression went for 7 years longer than it had to under Roosevelt.

Foschaffer-
re: This is what happens when you nationalize...

What banks did Obama "nationalize"?

None, right, Foshaffer?

Or did you have to look it up after being bombarded with counter-factual bullshit rhetoric to the contrary from the insane piles of ideological sources you so trust?

yeah right doc, there is no way I know of to go back 3 1/2 years.

And as for danni Riight, that's funny, another twisted memory of their own posts on the drudge.

We went back and forth and you mocked me for saying that Venezualans were denouncing Chavez. NO ONE here said he should be assasinated.

Betelg: along with nationalizing Chrysler and GM he converted the Preferred shares in the following banks to common stock as a hold against TARP. Once TARP was paid back the US was supposed to release all the common stock...it did not in all cases remaining the majority stock holder and defacto owner of the bank. Back door nationalization. The list is so long I had to cut 80% of it.

So, none, in other words.

Obama did not nationalize any bank.

On a further point, Foshaffer, since we have established the fact that, contrary to your rhetoric, Obama has nationalized no banks, how much populist zeal do you think you'll be able to muster for the large financial institutions that were so reckless as to require a taxpayer funded bailout to stem the chance of a global depression while their profits soared?

I'm with Beteleg here. NONE of the banks were Nationalized...in full anyway. They were given the money to save them, along with capital forbearance. It was the right move, and saved the gov trillions in liquidation costs.

Question...When is a bank insolvent?

Answer...When the regulator says they are!

BTW Obama was demanding banks make loans last year. Now he is demanding they 'give the money back'.

WHICH IS IT????????????

As if to add insult to injury, every penny of this money was printed out of thin air!!!

Dave-
I think Obama's gambit is that he doesn't want super large multinational banks to have the power of destroying the US economy or blackmailing it for bailouts again when they overextend for short term profit, but that's only a hope.

Obama has little chance in this fight with friends like the entire Republican Senate and a few bought Dems, etc.

What I find perplexing is the populist right.

Anyway, I've got to go. You guys have fun.

As if to add insult to injury, every penny of this money was printed out of thin air!!!

Been printing it that way since Nixon, brah.
