Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Saturday, January 30, 2010

The 32-year-old son of an Alcoa, Tenn., pastor has taken out an order of protection against his father, claiming the man threatened him with a gun during an argument over the younger man's lack of church attendance. Police said that Michael Colquitt's father Joe "pulled out a handgun and stated he would kill him, his wife and family" during an argument.

Captured on hidden mic at police headquarters... "That dad of mine, he's a real pistol."

If He shoots the kid, his church attendance will really drop.

The good reverend needs to re-read a bit of Luke 15.

And this time, pay attention.

I wonder how they got to such a place.

How did this minor story rante front page top and center? Oh, I forgot. The Retort has a daily quota of at least one story per day putting Christians in a bad light.

the story and its placement didnt put this ass hole in a bad light. his actions did. but i suppose you support him. more false god idiocy.

Apt handle you got there, George, considering the quality of the thought expressed. Where did I write I support him?

It's not surprising that Diablo would rather bitch about the reporting of facts than confront the issues in his own religion that are responsible for filling the news with stories like these.

he is a stupid little boy who cant speak to issues or opinions, just play word games

Often people in positions of authority can exhibit this imbalanced behavior, particularly when seeing a challenge as betrayal to that authority.

For what it's worth, I posted this thread. I'm an evangelical Christian... a social and fiscal conservative.

I've never been hesitant to comment on threads which favor either political side. Sometimes I do so with humor (or what I think should be funny) and other times with serious points.

This story would have made it to the DR whether I put it there or not. Rogers bumped it to the front page with only one post (mine) on it. That's his perrogative. I realize this site is predominately a lib site and have no problem with that.

Back to the thread, anyone who pulls a gun in church needs to have his head examined... whether it's this "preacher" or the guy who offed the abortion doctor. Or, for that matter, the times in church where an estranged husband violently confronts his wife.

"anyone who pulls a gun in church needs to have his head examined"

how about just bringing a gun into a church???

Why in the heck would a gun be needed in church?

When I was in high school I used to regularly bring my gun into church. I used to go hunting on Sunday mornings . I could not hunt during the week because of hockey practice. I didn't want to leave my gun in my car because black kids from the city often came down from Newark to steal cars and I drove a Maxima which was popular to steal then

...Why in the heck would a gun be needed in church?...

Oh I don't know - ask the abortion doctor that got capped in church!

I see, the "black kids" can have the Maxima, but you're hanging on to the gun...

Makes perfect sense.

I agree. If ever there's a "gun free" zone, it would be church or a daycare.

Our church has a fairly rigorous "check out" method for picking up kids after church. Our church in Ohio had a time (many years ago) when a father showed up, took the kid, and it was a kidnapping. You can never be too careful.

I don't carry a gun. Don't own one, for that matter. I don't begrudge someone possessing one. It's just not something I've felt the need to own or have to ward off bad guys.

But with Obama in office, I'm considering it. Got my Soldier of Fortune subscription... my bunker in the back yard and 6 months of rations for when that socialist arsehole pulls the plug on freedom. Yep.

"Got my Soldier of Fortune subscription"

funny dat be, oohrah.

I have guns (long guns and rifles) for bird hunting and deer hunting... I don't hunt much anymore but they're in the closet.

I don't have a problem with people owning guns either... I simply feel that guns are a major responsability and I'm willing to work with the gov't in making streets safer for all.

Yeah, church would be the last place you'd think someone would bring a gun.

Sorry, Moron, Christians put themselves in a bad light every day.

It wasn't like the friggin' 'librul media' put a gun in this guys hand and say "give us a story"

But thanks for playing.

'Attend Church or Die'!

Well, it worked for the Catholics for most of the dark ages. Might as well try a proven method to boost attendance.
