Transcript: GOP Response to State of the Union

FOXNews.com

Transcript of remarks by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who provided the Republican response to Obama's State of the Union speech on Jan. 27, 2010

Good evening. I'm Bob McDonnell. Eleven days ago, I was honored to be sworn in as the 71st governor of Virginia. I'm standing in the historic House Chamber of Virginia's Capitol, a building designed by Virginia's second governor, Thomas Jefferson.

It's not easy to follow the president of the United States. And my 18-year-old twin boys have added pressure to me tonight by giving me exactly 10 minutes to finish before they leave to go watch "SportsCenter."

Government should have this clear goal: Where opportunity is absent, we must create it. Where opportunity is limited, we must expand it. Where opportunity is unequal, we must make it open to everyone.

Sounds like goddamn communism to me.

"Communism is a social structure in which classes are abolished and property is commonly controlled, as well as a political philosophy and social movement that advocates and aims to create such a society."

en.wikipedia.org

There is no real opportunity and just two class of people, the political elites and the poor.

It's always the same old story with the GOP.

When out of power they constantly harp on the evils of big government to gain popular support for a "common sense, fiscally responsible" approach to our problems.

Then, when in power, they open wide the gravy train and line up their supporting corporations at the federal money trough.

The economic cream is again skimmed off by the wealthy while the middle class remains fixed on their hot-button distraction issues, like repeal of Row v Wade and gay marriage..

The question is, how long will the American boobgeoisie fall for it?

The GOP is betting that the answer is at least one more major election cycle, because there are no real solutions they can espouse which don't trod on the toes of their sponsors.

Very solid post.

I am serious.

PS - Frank Cotton is waiting under your bed and is brandishing his favorite set of brass-knuckles!

Frank Cotton is waiting under your bed

I sure hope he doesn't find the 12ga pump stashed under there.

If moderates like McDonnell who focus on their states' issues and not the ideological crap become the face of the GOP, that could be a positive change for the country. (i.e. one of our major political parties can stop going full retard with the likes of Palin, here's hoping)

read the jefferson quote in its entirety and all of you may agree that all politicians could use it to model themselves.
but then that kind of shit is no longer in the dna of goddamn democrats.

I am a conservative but once I saw the set up of this rebuttal I had to turn it off.
