Although Congressional Republicans are claiming that the stimulus has not been successful, at least 65 congressional Republicans have touted the stimulus dollars that have flowed into their own states, according to the White House.

During parts of the last decade, the GOP had control of the Senate, House, and White House, and yet government expanded and the debt increased.

At least Democrats are honest about wanting government to do things fir people. Republicans claim to be for less government when they are out of power, but when they govern, they move to the left.

Neither of these two parties will get us out of the mess we are in. Don't waste your vote anymore on these jokers.

Funny, whenever I point out how Republicans are such big expanders of governments, people on the right don't respond. They must agree, yet keep voting for the jokers.

Just today he was bitching how the Bush-era GOP grossly expanded government.

I, and countless others, have railed against the GOP for that as well.

Government Of the Posh

Jeffj, I hope you and RIR take that into account when voting in general elections then. Becuase pushing the brake pedal and gas pedal at the same time makes no sense.

Uh huh, and he imo he would have voted for a third term.

I do it pretty often. In fact, when talking about big spending, I like to refer to it as the Bush/Obama ideology: bigger is better. I was against Bush's free spending ways and let my congresscritter's know by calling and writing. They would respond about how they were for fiscal responsibility but all the while voted for Bush's agenda (with a few exceptions).

In the past I have sometimes voted for Libertarian candidates or written in a better candidate because there was little difference between the -R and -D candidates running. It is sometimes amusing that I find myself in agreement with some DR folks on the left who are also wanting fiscal responsibility in D.C. Maybe that is a good sign. I'm expecting to see a lot of Democrats voted out in November but am fairly sceptical that their replacements will be significantly better.

If the incumbents get voted out, in a decade or so, we may have a government we can live with.

Damned Republicans. We need more of this kind of stimulus for jobs.

"Just today he was bitching how the Bush-era GOP grossly expanded government."

It's very in vogue for Republicans to be concerned about Bush's spending now but when it mattered they were cheering for that "great Bush economy" and calling folks like me crazy for saying we should never pass tax cuts during war time.
Ah yes, the wonderful days when "deficits don't matter."

Republicans are so dumb they think expenditures should just be divided by the number of people to determine the cost per job, never mind the materials, land, etc. that might be part of the project.

There's a pic somewhere of Booby Jindal presenting a huge over-sized check, signed by him and with the State of LA seal, of funds from the stimulus he denounced.

Ah, here it is.

Funny shit, that.

The repubs screwed up big time when they wre in charge--everyone agrees on that.

Now that the Dems are doing the same BS spending folks should acknowledge they are screwing up big time.

The repubs claim they are sorry and learned their lesson.

Not sure if they can be trusted again.

But as Danni pointed out many many times there needs to be checks and balances in gov't between the congress and the WH.

So in November--it may be a kick out the incumbant bums--on both sides of the aisle.

That is because in the magic land they exist in all those things are FREE!

But give them just one more chance, please!

FTFY

Pinoosh was just trying to wrestle the check out the other guys hands so he could tear it up and mail it back postage due to Obama.

GOP: The stimulus program is BAD, unless I get to hand out the checks personally...

Yeah, after 8 years of supporting Bush blindly, he suddenly got the small government itch last January. It seems to be an epidemic amongst Republicans, err "Conservatives", there being no Republicans on Drudge, at least according to the "Conservatives".

You know, like BUSHLOVERTOO.

The repubs claim they are sorry and learned their lesson.

Not sure if they can be trusted again.

Muffy-this article proves they can't.

For those who like to point out that GWB was a big spender I couldn't agree more. I'll even up your anti Reagan was a big spender, he doubled the national debt.

But here's the question, what did you learn from that?

Spending is good?

Republicans are so dumb they think expenditures should just be divided by the number of people to determine the cost per job, never mind the materials, land, etc. that might be part of the project.

Sorry but it shouldn'y cost $99 million to create just 50 jobs.

It would be more prudent to give the $99 million to corporations to subsidize the salary of 2,000 workers to keep them fom laying off staff. The problem is there are 10 million people collecting unemployment.Unemployment is too low to live on from any long term period. If you are going to give it to states to keep teachers you should do the same for corps

Disingenuous

This is why we need a balanced budget amendment, and why we need an amendment that gets the federal government out of sidewalk-building. You can't trust the career Republicans to do the right thing, and the Dems can be counted on to do only the wrong thing.

Many Republicans did this over 2 years ago.

Why do you find this so hard to believe?

Danni, you may hate it and tell lies about it, but the "Tea Party" movement will grow and will be responsible for throwing out Democrats and the Neocons who don't respond to the wants of the American people.

"Tea Party" movement will grow

Sure it will.

It has already been co-opted by the republic party. The moment Sarah! agreed to be the keynote speaker was the death blow to the tea party movement.

By bringing in the likes of Palin, Bachmann, etc into the party they are letting in the status quo defenders of low taxes, big government, big deficits.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
