Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Tuesday, January 26, 2010

With much-publicized ties between President Barack Obama, the SEIU labor union and the ACORN volunteer organization, it would be a safe assumption that someone with a business relationship with not just one, but both of those groups would have an inside track on doing business with an Obama associate. But in the world of big money Democratic Chicago politics, there is a difference between white-collar clout and blue-collar clout.

He lost the bid despite offering $1.3 million more than the "winning" bidder.

Nesbitt... I swear that name is familiar...

Oh, yeah, now I remember. That Nesbitt. I bet the lefties here never heard of him before now. He and Mr. President are BFF's or FFB's... something like that.

"This appears to be a very corrupt quid pro quo involving campaign contributions."

Nothing in that article constitutes a quid pro quo or anything close to it. Other than campaign contributions he shows no connection of Obama or his campaign, in any way, to this deal.
Would George Bush be responsible for every deal made by every one of his contributors?
Oh wait, I get it, it was in Chicago, Obama is connected to every deal in that city.
Funny thing, this web site reporting this is the same one that the guy who tried to bug Landeiu's office is connected to. Small world.

Could you please explain exactly what a 'sweatheart' deal is? Will it involve a lot of perspiring or not?

It's getting a deal that a person with connections gets that a non-connected person wouldn't otherwise get, sometimes in exchange for a favor. And yes, returning that favor may involve heavily perspiring.

If in fact this did happen as reported you would find nothing wrong with it?

Me thinks the 'goatman' still didn't get the point of the question. I even tried to give a hint as to what it was that I was focusing on, but apparently it went right over his head ;-)

I reckon it did. Goats don't perspire. Please elucidate.

I guess the subtlety in my response was lost as well. Should I expound, too?

Or what was left of them.

OK, let me be a little more OBVIOUS:

Is it a 'Sweatheart' deal or 'Sweetheart' deal?

I guess if the best argument libbies can come up with is a spelling error, they've already lost.

" The Fix Was In': Obama Donor Gets Sweetheart Real Estate Deal in Chicago "

"Bennett was dealing with Chicago Housing Authority Chairman Marty Nesbitt on the attempted purchased and put forth an offer of $9 million for the building."

"But Bennett didn't put forth the winning bid. A company called Sterling Bay properties had the top bid. Actually, top bid is not the proper description. Sterling Bay won with a $7.7 million bid, $1.3 million less than Bennett's $9 million offer."

"But later Bennett discovered Nesbitt also had another role: treasurer of the Obama Victory Fund."

"Sterling Bay made a substantial campaign contribution ($28,500) to the Obama Victory Fund within months of the deal closing in late December 07. This $28,500 donation was after about $16,000 worth of campaign donations by Sterling Bay principals"

"When the fix is in, the fix is in."
