When the unemployed and uninsured turn to the ER as their only option, in greater numbers than ever before, the insurance premiums for those who still have insurance will climb even higher. Someone's got to pick up the costs.

Well, you certainly are close acquaintances with "stupidity"; when a person loses their stuff, they can reacquire that stuff, and it actually boosts the economy when they do. So, we don't need to give them stuff. But, when a person loses their health, generally they don't ever get it back, and if they are uninsured you/we will pay for their medical care at ER prices...

Truth is that the "people" you refer to think that insurance should be free and since it has come with the job for so long, you think that it should be covered under unemployment.

Truth is that Cobra Insurance is much more expensive than any health care policy you can find. There are high deductable insurance policies that are cheaper than a car payment.
