Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The California Supreme Court today struck down the state's limits on how much medical marijuana a patient can possess, concluding that the restrictions imposed by the Legislature were an unconstitutional amendment of a 1996 voter-approved initiative. The decision means that patients and caregivers with a doctor's recommendation to use marijuana can now possess as much as is "reasonably related to the patient's current medical needs," a standard that the court established in a 1997 decision.

If I lived in California, I'd move anyways, so this doesn't concern me. I do, however, wish they'd decriminalize it nationwide.

As long as it is treated like alcohol or any other prescribed drug, I am ALL for it.

Why would you want to smoke a Red Hot Chili Peppers album?

Why would you want to smoke a Red Hot Chili Peppers album?

Why not smoke and listen to it instead?

Sounds like CA wants to hand the industry over to the pharmaceuticals who can provide a measurable amount of the drug.

BUSINESS AS USUAL.

who can provide a measurable amount of the drug

Heh, then it will just be a bureaucrat pinching your sack.

Unlimited buds are good for the patient and good for the State coffers. But, seeing the guidelines on legal docs helped me understand EXACTLY what i could legally have/transport. It also helped define co-ops and collectives. IMO the guidelines were sufficient for medication and care giving. I wonder how this ruling effects the California Senate Bill 420....crossing out some of the verbiage, I assume.

This part of an AP article that really popped out at me:

The high court says only voters can change amendments that they've added to California's constitution through the initiative process. The ruling by Chief Justice Ron George left in place the portion of the new law that protects patients possessing a state-issue medical marijuana identification card from arrest. - Paul Elias, Assoc. Press

I really miss those guys, especially Fat Freddie.

And his cat

I have no problem with pot being legal. On the other hand, when I read Nullifidian I think that maybe pot isn't as harmless as people say.

Did any of you see the "Thansgiving" episode?

Too Funny

Do they call them "episodes"?

Or the Disneyland one?

Too Funny

I am starting to feel old.

WHY DO I STILL LIVE IN ASHEVILLE NC! The second I finish college I'm moving to California. THE SAME FREAKING DAY....

GOD BLESS YOU GUYS. God bless the people of the great state of Califunia.

Sweet! Humboldt County already allows you to carry 3 pounds. I think 3 pounds is about right. Three pounds a day that is!

j/k

My question is:

Is that actually 3 pounds per day
or
3 pounds per day pro-rated over a calendar year
or
3 pounds per day pro-rated over a fiscal year?

WHo cares GOD bless them

Chicken.. I can be in possession of 3 processed pounds. Tomorrow I could have a different 3 pounds! (no one said it had to be the exact same 3 pounds). This is for transportation or storage purposes.

I can also be growing up to 99 plants. So I can have another 3 pounds on the vine (which really means I can actually have more if I stagger the crops slightly)!

Isn't that sweet?

Humboldt County is awesome like that!

The mexicans are pissed at humboldt county because you are taking their jobs.

Is it possible that part of the rationale for not decriminalizing it is that, if someone is involved in an accident it can't be acurrately determined if they were or were not under the influence at the time of the accident?

Depends on the type of testing. Testing different bodily fluids tell you different things. Oral (saliva) testing is good from shortly after consumption to about 72 hours. In urine testing, it shows up a few days to up to 90 days later, depending on metabolism and other factors.

Oral method is used for "post-incident" (ie accident) testing, urine generally for pre-employment.

IMHO decrim is slow in arriving because of the "all drugs are bad" mentality rather than inability to accurately detect.

Decrim won't happen till corporations are run out of the legislature.

To much vested interest in keeping it illegal from fabric producers to the private prision industry.

Sir Mike don't give up on NC just yet. We already have partial decrim and medical MJ laws have been proposed on several occasions. We may not be at the forefront but we are not far behind. On the other hand some medical MJ states have pretty strict standards for people who are prescribed MJ to get any other scripts, as someone with MS who is helped by both regular scripts and MJ I don't want to see them trying to limit one because of the other with it illegal they don't try.

True, and to think some of the most high times I've had were in the Garment District in downtown Los Angeles.

To get an ID card from the Dept. of Health would be sick, sans the extra $150/year (that's after the $100 yearly Dr. fee). Then, those county-issued cards will become collectors items - hopefully soon. WTF is up with those marihuana stamps circa 1937?

Did anyone else have a black light bulb appear over their head when they read this, followed by the desire to overturn all their sofa cushions in the search for stale Bugles and/or Doritoes?

The FFFB quote that CR put up above is close but not quite correct.

"Dope will get you through times of money better than money will get you through times of no dope"

Is the original quote.
