In point of fact, Das Goat is a self-admitted troll who delights in getting people to take up his troll bait so he can butt heads with them.
When on topic and serious he can be a decent enough poster but he too often indulges in prolonged flame wars, off-topic, self-referential wobbery and, of course, trolling.
Spud often wanders far afield hisself on these threads but always tries to post at least one on-topic post before going off on a tangent and will generally return to the argument if anyone advances a serious counter argument that needs addressing.
Spud tries to remain mindful of the wonderful opportunity a blog-site like the Retort offers in terms of it being a free-speech zone wherein real-time, global political debate can offer a counter point to the mass media sound bytes that try to define the parameters of wot constitutes today's news.
This medium is still so new that Spud fears it's full impact will never be truly appreciated until the powers-that-be try to undermine it or take it away from folks or price it out of some people's ability to pay.
Don't get Spud wrong. Spud likee the silly jokes and the slanging contests and witticisms that fly fast and furious hereabouts. Spud enjoys it when a thread jumps it's tracks and begins exploring questions beyond those inherent to the thread. But Spud is generally more concerned with finding out wot people think and how they feel about the issues of the day.
Spud's just trying to make sense of it all and wants it all to make sense.
Having more luck with the former than the latter there.
