Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

MSNBC has compiled a list of charities that you can support to help the earthquake victims in Haiti. One thing to be careful of is scammers who make bogus appeals to help. "Past tragedies and natural disasters have prompted individuals with criminal intent to solicit contributions purportedly for a charitable organization or a good cause," the FBI said.

Set it on fire.

I'd donate to the red Cross but after my grandfather just finished fighting for his life on some tiny p.o.s. island in the south pacific, the red cross was there to offer coffee.......for ten cents a cup! Ten cents...in 194X in the middle of a combat zone? Needless to say, he didn't get any coffee. They were also there when my Aunts home burned to the ground....they gave her blankets....and charged her for them.

The Red Cross is BIG business. Give to the smaller charities that don't give their CEO a 1.2 Million dollar salary.

I've heard similar stories and also how much money they piss away on vehicles for volunteers.

They are almost as bad as the United Way.

Sad, isn't it?

We give, thinking our cash (or even blood) will be distributed to those in need, but they sell it! They even SELL blood they collect.

I realize I posted this on the original Haiti thread, but here are some very credible charitable organizations whose donations go directly to relief. All have had people on the ground in Haiti for years:

ShelterBox - An organization that works closely with the Rotary Clubs of North America. They provide a box that contains a tent for 10 that can be subdivided, 10 sleeping bags, water, food, first aid supplies, coloring books and games for kids, as well as tools like axes, hammers, etc. Each box costs $1000. 100% of donations go directly to providing these shelter kits.

Doctors Without Borders - 100% goes to direct medical care. They've had people on the ground in Haiti for decades. All volunteers.

Yele.org - Founded by recording artist Wyclef John, they've provided thousands of scholarships, tons of food aid, and a plethora of other needed services in Haiti since 2005. 100% of donations go to direct relief. They have hundreds of people on the ground. You can donate $5 by texting "Haiti" to 501501, or visit their website:

Save The Children - 92% goes to direct disaster relief

What charity is Rush donating to?

Please send any Money to the the Francois Duvalier Foundation to promote positive aspects of the Duvalier presidency and improve fortunes of the National Unity Party.

"Since Jean-Claude left, there's no work, no food, no nothing. Only burning tires, people getting killed and kidnappings," Jesus Duvernois, 71, said at a gathering last week to mark Papa Doc's 100th birthday. "Without Duvalier, there is no country."

Damn thats bad. I hate how companies pressure employees to give to the UW. Any of the charities that the UW supports will accept your donation without the UW skimming to support their lavish bullshit.

Agreed.

The UW's skim factor and their heavy handed tactics have turned a lot of people off of them.

It's better just to give directly to the charities you support than to shell out to a middleman/ clearinghouse operation like UW.

Fergit the UW.

Be Well.

so why isnt the UN out in front on this?

What charity is Rush donating to?

His pharmacist.

One big problem there is......... there are too many gangs that steal the stuff right from the hands of the people. How many billions have gone to that country in the past 10 years? Where has the money gone? It wasn't being spent on the common person there. The country has been run by thugs fom a long time, just like many countries in Africa.

One of your best postings

10 cents a cup is a pretty good deal but I don't usually carry change on me unless I have to park my car. Starbuck's is expensive and I heard Dunkin Donuts makes better coffee. I do not drink coffee. I drink tea. Did they have tea for the tea drinkers ? If they didn't that is difinitely racists. Most teas drinkers are white or Asian

so why isnt the UN out in front on this?

They're still digging out their people from the 6-story building that is now a one-story building.

BTW, there is a UN force on the ground.
