DDB Guoan, the Chinese branch of Manhattan-based advertising agency DDB, is launching a new campaign on behalf of Chinese goods with the slogan "Made in China, made with the world." "In five to 10 years, everyone will have a Chinese TV or washing machine, and you won't think twice about it," said Liu Libin, director of the China Advertising Association of Commerce.

In five to 10 years, everyone will have a Chinese TV or washing machine, and you won't think twice about it

Can't argue with that.

We welcome our new Communist Overlords.

The Right

Northguy, what do you think will stop the Chinese from continuing their ascent?

New "Made in China" Products: for the Lead lover in you!

"Northguy, what do you think will stop the Chinese from continuing their ascent?"

a unified american public.

will THAT happen..
i have my doubts based on "the right" and "the left" and "libs" and "cons" comments each day on the DR.

I want to see an ad with a guy picking up his unemployment check and when he looks at it closely he notices "printed in China."

"a unified american public."

Kind of hard for that to happen when you have one group so well trained to react on command to any idea not authorized by their corporate talking point masters.

"We want our country back" (so we can let the corporations rape it some more).

"We welcome our new Communist Overlords.
The Right'

You must be mistaken. It is the Left which is the communistic bunch in this country

There will never be a unified American public around economic issues.

"You must be mistaken. It is the Left which is the communistic bunch in this country"

you sir are an idiot...and the intelligent on the right and the left both think so.

"Kind of hard for that to happen when you have one group so well trained to react on command to any idea not authorized by their corporate talking point masters."

Like when Clinton tried to block the sale of sensitive technology to China and his corporate masters overruled him so he let it go through?

People who are completely ignorant to politics are more respectable than one sided hacks who can see every fault of one side while being blind to the same exact behaviors perpetrated by those they unthinkingly support.

"Like when Clinton tried to block the sale of sensitive technology to China and his corporate masters overruled him so he let it go through?"

I quit defending Clinton a long time ago, he sold us out a long time ago and now I have to admit, I'm doubting Obama too.

Danni, I think the main point is that with the statement you made in the affirmative toward I would imagine the republicans, you made the same affirmative statement toward yourself.

If you were impartial, or interested in making any kind of difference with that statement you would have taken into account the fact that both sides of the political cow patty are just as wet and smelly when it comes to what you mentioned.

It wasn't all that long ago that customer service for things like food stamps, and unemployment benefits were being outsourced by some state governments to call centers in India.

Which is why this problem will not be fixed.

We're screwed.

Buy American -------- now excuse me while I spend thousands at wal-mart.

Sincerely

The retarded "right"

"If you were impartial, or interested in making any kind of difference with that statement you would have taken into account the fact that both sides of the political cow patty are just as wet and smelly when it comes to what you mentioned."

When I think about the health care bill I have to agree with you. May as well have let insurance industry execs write it.

Nixon gets his revenge!

"DDB Guoan, the Chinese branch of Manhattan-based advertising agency DDB"

A quick search shows DDB a faithful corporate contributor to the American Business "supporting" RNC.

How fucking Ironic

Who is destroying American business again?

Priceless!

"I quit defending Clinton a long time ago, he sold us out a long time ago and now I have to admit, I'm doubting Obama too."

Oh, then I misjudged your statement. The "one group" you were referring to is our government.

What's funny (and sad) is those who believe things will be fixed when the Republ/Cons get back.

As I said yesterday, we need to quit electing these divisive bastards who only run for election for their own gain, by convincing us that their ideology is similar to ours. And quit listening to the punditry that would like to keep us divided, again to only their advantage. We need to start trying to elect people that at least seem committed to working together towards practical solutions that work for all of us in this country, regardless of their ideology.

That's the only way these problems are ever going to be solved. We need to quit worrying about ideology so much. It's only going to continue to get worse until practical discourse and compromise happens.

As I just said, we're screwed.

Is there a retard in here trying peddle the bull shit notion that trade imbalance and outsourcing are the work of one party?

Oh, it's just RedNeckVille.

yup whatsleft

we're screwed.

major cultural revolution is needed.

So I take it you have no issue with an American company, who contributes to a political party that says it's for American business, while itself I promoting the idea that it's in Americans interest not to buy American?

I don't care where the fact comes from (left or right); the revelation is in any measure is pretty jacked-up!

I guess you all just don't see any contradiction in pretending to promote American while actually promoting Chinese.

Perhaps the RNC needs to send them back their contribution(s)

I see that the RNC is doing that, but I also see the same instances of problems coming from the DNC and their style of government too.

I mean any president that barrows from China, whether republican or democrat, is giving America to China in terms of a debt that we could never pay back if asked to pay it back in a timely manner.

I just don't get why one side has to be pointed out over the other side. Both sides are being scrutinized here. To make it about one or the other is foolish and again, not going to solve any problems.

escalation of partisanship to protect partisanship if you will.

Funny redneck, from what I could find the PAC DDB was donating to was sending 84% of its cash to Libtards.

www.opensecrets.org

Oh, look, and there's a link... amazing...

"Made in China" -- try naming something that isn't.

"Made in China" and they're bragging about it?

Good luck using that slogan as a selling point.

My pants were made in Bangladesh... Since when does Levi live in Bangladesh - and the damn things still say SF on the little rivets!!!

Can I sue for false advertising?

Another mojito anyone?

PAC DDB was donating to was sending 84% of its cash to Libtards

Sure, this year. Look at the all the years when Republicans were in power:

www.opensecrets.org

...it illustrates perfectly why the money=speech arguments are bullshit. If DDB had a point of view they wished expressed they'd just give to whatever party toes their line. But they don't, they give to whichever party is in control. Campaign donations from PACs, trusts, 512s and the lot are nothing more than legalized bribery. And it will be impossible to get rid of because one party doesn't want to sit through the dark years only to turn away the money train once they get to run the committees.

Enforce wto rules against currency manipulation, tariffs on Chinese product dumping, not going to happen though.

Enjoy you new boss, peasants! It shouldn't matter too much to you, rich Chinese and rich American business men have the same loyalties, money.

Kill yourself.

the self retort of the day?

Northguy, what do you think will stop the Chinese from continuing their ascent?

See #33. Add in comparative environmental, safety and labor standards and wages. As an example, compare coal mining in China and the US. Or pollution standards.

Life is cheap in developing countries and business loves it.

And before anyone from the right says the west's standards are too tough-go drink some Yangtze River water or take a deep breath in Bejing.

The ad should read:

"Wonder where you're job went? Some CEO needed a new yacht....Made in China".

Look for the rickshaw to make a strong comeback.

The American dream is now made in China.

MCNEIL!!

Both the Democrats (except the real lefties)and Republicans sold America out when they bought the free trade BS the multi-nationals were selling. Where do the paultards stand on free trade?

I believe it is trade with all, subsidize none.

Go China Go!

I have never been disappointed by Chinese products and I feel they are now in a position to finally get the respect and recognition they deserve.

Every American product however ... when there used to be American products, LOL.... turned out to be useless garbage.

The very last American thing I bought, was an antenna rotator (don't tell BooB) that lasted 2 weeks before going kaput. Opened it up (not designed for opening... why?.. to make it harder for the consumer to repair, that's why) and saw the gears were made of plastic! LOL Got a local antenna-rotator and it's still working after so many many years.

Because of treating the consumer like trash and making sure their products are SUPPOSED to break down at a certain point, America has lost it's place in consumer goods forever.

Good riddance.

Believe China has won the war, it was Mao who said war against the west is won through prolonged warfare. You just need to trade the concept of war and throw in Trade. Chinese lobbied and received Most Favored trade status. Cheap goods flooded US markets and US manufacturing closed shop.
Now Wall Street is raising an advertising campaign to do away with the remainder of US manufacturing.
not to mention the trillions China has loaned the US to subsidize our wars.

A New "Made in China" ad campaign?

Seems a bit redundant.

Seriously, wot isn't made in China anymore?

...not to mention the trillions China has loaned the US to subsidize our wars.

The ole phrase was "give 'em enough rope and they'll hang themselves"

The new Chinese variation on that is "Just loan them the money to buy that rope."

The Middle Kingdom Rises.

The most authoritarian, murderous, enviromentally unfriendly, repressive form of socially Darwinistic capitalism on the planet and all backed by the iron hand of a one party torture state. A communist system replete with secret police, widespread corruption and internal black sites/ secret prisons.

Do. Not. Want.

And yes, both parties are responsible for selling out yer grandkid's birthright for a bowl of rice today.

The government, no matter who is in power is always at the mercy of the monied special interests who determine who runs and who doesn't.

Those people don't care about the long term interests of the country or it's people, they just care about their own short term, personal enrichment.

Until all corporate monies are purged from the electoral process the game will always be rigged in the favor of the unelected elites who really call the shots.

Sad but true.

How to fix?

Other than the above suggestion stopping all corporate welfare to companies who out-source and giving tax breaks and incentives to those who still employ and manufacture in America.

Protectionism some might say?

Yeah, so what?

Be Well.

Because of treating the consumer like trash and making sure their products are SUPPOSED to break down at a certain point, America has lost it's place in consumer goods forever.

Agreed to the first part. That "Planned Obsolescence" was a real poke in the eye of the consumer.

In America's defense, they aint the only ones to have used or still use the concept.

Still sucks tho.

Origins of planned obsolescence go back at least as far as 1932 with Bernard London's pamphlet Ending the Depression Through Planned Obsolescence.[2] However, the phrase was first popularized in 1954 by Brooks Stevens, an American industrial designer. Stevens was due to give a talk at an advertising conference in Minneapolis in 1954. Without giving it much thought, he used the term as the title of his talk.[3]

From that point on, "planned obsolescence" became Stevens' catchphrase. By his definition, planned obsolescence was "Instilling in the buyer the desire to own something a little newer, a little better, a little sooner than is necessary."[3]

Stevens' term was taken up by others, and his own definition was challenged. By the late 1950s, planned obsolescence had become a commonly used term for products designed to break easily or to quickly go out of style. In fact, the concept was so widely recognized that, in 1959, Volkswagen mocked it in a now-legendary advertising campaign. While acknowledging the widespread use of planned obsolescence among automobile manufacturers, Volkswagen pitched itself as an alternative. "We do not believe in planned obsolescence," the ads suggested. "We don't change a car for the sake of change."[4]

Made In Japan

Made in Korea

Made in Taiwan

Made in Singapore

Made in Malaysia

Made in Indonesia

Made in Vietnam

Made in Etc.

Poor people in poor countries have always wanted to work and feed their children. This has been a constant for 500 years, and it will not change.

When I was a kid "Made in Japan" was a joke. Today it's a sign of quality.

A lot of crap is made in China today .. crap like toys and toasters and microwave ovens purchased by low-income people.

Danni would say that poor people should not have hot food. Better to starve poor Americans (or let them eat McDonald's) and starve poor Chinese children.

"If they want a microwave, they should save up $600 over 20 years to buy one made by American union workers."

My new gloves for cold weather from santa seemed really nice....until the first snowfall...then the seams started to seperate on the fingers...I figured "another cheap pair of Chinese gloves" but lo and behold my day was soon filled with laughter when I read "made in Pakistan"!

What a way to try and compete in the world....Hopefully soon even this small export nation will get it. Perhaps they can just import it from China and replace the label then export?

HAR~! HAR~!

All over Asia I see "Made in USA" tags sewn into everything

If it's not 'Made in USA' nobody will buy it

until the first snowfall...then the seams started to seperate on the fingers...I figured "another cheap pair of Chinese gloves" but lo and behold my day was soon filled with laughter when I read "made in Pakistan"!

LOL... now Americans are reduced to wearing my stuff I threw in the rubbish? That is repacked and sent to America as second-hand?

Now my day is full of laughter. LOL

All over Asia I see "Made in USA" tags sewn into everything

"Made in USA" labels are put on by Asian manufacturers, or else they won't sell in USA.

The extra stuff is sold locally.

Nothing is actually made in USA, ever.

I guess they don't see the Consumer Products Safety Commission's weekly recalls which are 90% chinese imports.

cpsc.gov

Wow. Advertising that isn't quite accurate and has an agenda?

Whodathunkit....

Sorry, you illiterate provincial twit, but the fake "Made in USA" tags are there to persuade stupid people in ASIA to buy the crap.

Manufacturing is about 19 percent of the U.S. economy -- about where it has been for many years.

But Americans produce high-quality, expensive stuff. Not the kind of crap Azmed is selling to third world lowlifes in the bazaar.

Sorry, you illiterate provincial twit,

No need to apologize... "Vermin".

How's the fake Mem-sahiba doin? And the fake kids? LOL

but the fake "Made in USA" tags are there to persuade stupid people in ASIA to buy the crap.

So you admit the "made in USA" labels are fake and are put on by Asian manufacturers. LOL

That's exactly what I said!

Well done, Vermin. You made my point for me.

But Americans produce high-quality, expensive stuff.

Which breaks down in 2 weeks.

Manufacturing is about 19 percent of the U.S. economy -- about where it has been for many years.

But Vermin... if US manufacturing was doing so great, WHY did YOU leave the US to look for a job???

Rex? Are you posting as Alpha-Dawg now?

I am asking because Rex had the same shitty taste in music... music which made sense only to him.

Follow the muzak, brother..

Muzak?

Zeitglist... it IS you!

How you doin?!!

A good one, brother....

Looks like he's stoned....

Well, nice to have you back, in whatever shape and under whatever name.

Stick around.

DANNI#6,
I usually rip your comments mercilessly - but to be fair... that one was actually pretty good :)

JM

Some of you want to blame the Republicans...

Some of you want to blame the Democrats...

I'll let you in on a little secret...

There isn't a "DIMES WORTH OF DIFFERENCE" between the Democrats and Republicans...they are both OWNED by the Special interests/Banksters/Oligarchs that REALLY run this country...

The sooner that you wake up to reality the the better off you are going to be..

It's NOT Left vs Right...It's US vs THEM
