Last spring three American Evangelicals, whose work had been discredited in the US, billed themselves as experts on homosexuality and gave a series of talks on "that gay agenda--that whole hidden and dark agenda" to Ugandan police officers, teachers and politicians. Now those three Americans, who spoke on "the threat homosexuals posed to Bible-based values and the traditional African family," are saying it was not their intention to encourage the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009, a bill which imposes the death penalty for homosexual behavior. "That's horrible, absolutely horrible," said Don Schmierer, one of the Evangelicals who lectured to the Ugandans. "Some of the nicest people I have ever met are gay people."
