Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele predicted Monday night that the GOP will not regain control of the House in the 2010 midterm elections.

Steele said during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity that Republicans will see some "nice pick-ups in the House" but would not predict the number of seats the GOP will win. "I can't give a number yet," Steele said. "We are just now beginning to look at races."

NRCC Pushes Back Against Steele Over 2010 Pessimism, GOP Operatives Furious

Republican operatives are privately furious with RNC Chairman Michael Steele for predicting on Monday night that the GOP will not take over the House of Representatives in 2010.

One strategist called the comment "stupid," arguing that it will put the party in a bind when it comes to candidate recruitment and generally lower expectations and excitement over the 2010 elections. Others, who refused to go on the record, lamented the inevitable follow-up questions that would be asked to Republicans, such as: do you agree with the sentiments of the RNC Chairman?

And, sure enough, on Tuesday, the National Congressional Campaign Committee released a statement in which it basically slapped down Steele for his electoral prognostication....

I'll give the GOPers credit for one thing: With clueless buffoons like Michael Steele, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, and Steve King aboard the engine this is one train that's definitely doing a loop through Krazy Town.

"it will put the party in a bind when it comes to candidate recruitment"

You mean there aren't greedy morons lined up around the block to be Rtard congressmen? I would have thought they would have to beat them off with a stick. (Keey yer minds out of the gutter, perverts.)

How screwed up is DC, when liberal pundits are predicting the repubs "will" re-take the House this year and the Party Chair says they won't.
What's next? Ken Mehlman saying the Senate reform bill is good and supports its passing?

In ancient Rome, the Senate sometimes granted a victorious general a triumph. It's been said that as the hero rode in a chariot through the streets during the festivities a slave stood beside him, holding a golden wreath over the general's head, whispering in his ear; possibly the sage advice, "Respica te, hominem te memento" ("Look behind you, remember you are only a man"); maybe "Memento mori" ("Remember, you're mortal"); something along that line. Perhaps the GOPers should borrow a leaf from the script of bygone days, get some wealth donors to chip in and see if they can hire Gilbert Gottfried to accompany Michael Steele on his perigrinations from one misspoken observation to the next, leaning in close and shouting at the top of his lungs in the RNC chair's ear, "Shut the fuck up!"

Or they could get Patton to come back from the dead to bitch-slap him.

Republicans have lobbyists whispering "Two million this quarter, two million next.. no-bid and it's all yours."

Michael Steele means to once again hijack the election process via electronic ballot. Guaranteed, the Republicans will deny any of it.
