Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Five Americans detained in Pakistan told a court Monday they intended to cross the border into Afghanistan to wage jihad against Western forces but denied any links to al-Qaida or plans to carry out terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The admission could be a prelude to possible U.S. conspiracy charges but might also draw sympathy from an increasingly anti-American Pakistani public. Such feelings have complicated U.S. efforts to persuade Pakistan to do more to crack down on militants carrying out cross-border attacks on coalition troops in Afghanistan.

Stupid is as stupid does....

Can anyone say Johnnie Taliban??

F*ckin terrorists.

i think this plan needed a little more thought

Yes, this seems to be a case of "writing your own ticket" to a Pakistani prison (which I doubt are very pleasant places).

Very sad for the families, though. From some of the early reports, they hoped they could avoid violence and imprisonment and de-radicalize these guys. Probably a naive hope, but loving parents sometimes indulge in that.

those darn "man made disaster" supporters...

In a way I actually feel sorry for these five would be Jihadis. They are young, alienated and stupid. Neither at home in the Islamic world nor in the West. People searching for an identity in all the wrong places. Each one a born patsy, - available for manipulation.
That being said, how many people might have been killed by these misguided souls? I pity them, but I would still incarcerate them for a very lengthy period if it does turn out that they were seeking to commit terrorist acts.

They are young, alienated and stupid....People searching for an identity in all the wrong places. Each one a born patsy, - available for manipulation.

Kinda reminds me of the audience at a Chomsky lecture.

Or the audience in a Meat Judging contest.

That was pretty witty there, chickenshit.

You a pretty good meat judge?

At the butcher shop, not the kind you like.

"In a way I actually feel sorry for these five would be Jihadis. They are young, alienated and stupid."

The one guy was in dental school. So he was smart enough to get in and either had the money or the aid to pay for it. There are literally millions of honest people who could never dream of such an opporunity, let alone squander it the way this fool did. They aren't poor, ignorant outcasts. They're just assholes.

You a pretty good meat judge?

..or do you just surf the web and send out anonymous emails from proxy servers like a cowering little toy-breed dog?

Hard to be good at much of anything via proxy, aint it chickenshit?

Jak keep up the false accusations. Where are these emails? Do a print screen and post it here on this message board. I always sign my name to my emails.

Have you noticed how our passports are now filled with propagandist nationalist iconography? You can see it in the fifth photo on the link to the story.

It's embarrassing to have to carry that document around. I used to be proud to have a passport. Now I dread the day mine expires and I have to get the moronic coloring book version.

Have you noticed how our passports are now filled with propagandist nationalist iconography?

Burn it if you are offended, then.

What kind of tiny brain considers pictures of their countries icons "proaganda"? You are easily influenced by simple images apparently. Madison Avenue loves people like you.

Ever notice how our country is filled with little pseudo-intellectual, self-loathing pieces of un-American shit who go out of their way to conflate any exhibition of pride in one's own country and way of life as some form of jingoism.

You can see it in the 17th post of this thread.

It's embarrassing to have to share oxygen with those people.

What kind of tiny brain considers pictures of their countries icons "proaganda"?
You don't know what propaganda is? Maybe this will help.

Pinche hasn't figured out jingoism is our way of life. They're so cute at that age!

Maybe someday he will look at the American flag and notice the running tally of territorial acquisitions displayed in the canton.
He might even find an old flag in the attic, maybe his grandfather's, and ask mommy why it only has 48 stars.
Later, when he reaches middle school, he might learn about Manifest Destiny.

O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world! That has such people in't!

Why the hell do you choose to live in such a horrid place, snoofy?

I have learned the best thing to say when out of the Country is "I am Canadian."

It wouldn't be so horrid if idiots like Goat and Joto Se Mao left.

I have learned the best thing to say when out of the Country is "I am Canadian."

And you love calling me a coward. LOL You're a riot, ratsa. Keep it up

"Have you noticed how our passports are now filled with propagandist nationalist iconography?"

i love our new passport...
and i love our iconic propaganda i guess.
gets me all teary eyed ;)

i just don't know how the parents didn't know.

i will say this

muslim kids that are prone to extremism... aka the "gangsta" culture of urban life often as they get older shed one set of extreme way of life to another...

i hope we as a community take a lesson from this and realize that we have to make sure they understand that violence is something they should steer clear from even if they want to wear a turban and a white gown but were born in scranton, pa.

I have learned the best thing to say when out of the Country is "I am Canadian."

I've found "Komme Ich aus USA" works wonders. Also I'm not much of a fan of lying. It might not be evident to some of the more patriotically confused folks here, but I'm quite proud to be an American. I do not shirk my heritage, despite State Department counter-terrorism training to the contrary.

But in accord with my witty, urbane comportment, I save my displays of nationalism for when it really matters. Like the Olympics, and the World Cup. And that French guy at LAX I cussed out for his government's refusal to let our F-111s fly over la France on their way to murder Qadaffi's son. :)

i love our new passport...
and i love our iconic propaganda i guess.

I still have the old one, so I'm not sure what's in the new one that has snoofy's panties in a wad, but if it's just iconic pictures, BFD. It's not like you passport is your wallpaper -- something you have to look at all the time. You see it for what -- a few seconds when it gets stamped? What's the problem here?

I hope snoofy finds a nice place to live where his passport isn't defaced with horrible iconic pictures.

I've found "Komme Ich aus USA" works wonders.

Honestly, snoofy -- why do you choose to live in a place so distasteful to you that the iconic pictures in its passport upset you and you have to lie about being from there. If I hated my home so badly I had to lie about being from there, I'd move.

It's an honest, non-snarky question: Why do you stay? Why don't you move somewhere that you are proud to say you live?

i love our new passport...
and i love our iconic propaganda i guess.
gets me all teary eyed ;)

I've heard others say the same thing. But I'm a traditionalist. A passport is a serious document. Ours now looks like a child's comic book, something you might find in a Happy Meal.

Most Americans will never see one, which makes the whole display a stunning bit of irony in its own right.

I've found "Komme Ich aus USA" works wonders....I do not shirk my heritage...

LOL In the same paragraph.

You can't make this stuff up.

Honestly, snoofy -- why do you choose to live in a place so distasteful to you that the iconic pictures in its passport upset you and you have to lie about being from there.

Lie? "I come from USA," it's the G-d's honest truth. (Or G-tt, if you prefer.)

Not sure where you get the notion I hate America either. Perhaps you're suffering some unfortunate cognitive impairment from prolonged exposure to Pinche's propaganda? Hopefully it's not permanent.

i think the passport should be a credit card sized thing personally

manually stamping ?? really??

in todays day??

i just say i'm american when i'm outside the country.

unless i'm in a pakistani market... then i stay quiet and let my cousin talk... that way i can get my clothes for 3 dollars instead of 10 hahahha.

I've heard others say the same thing. But I'm a traditionalist. A passport is a serious document. Ours now looks like a child's comic book, something you might find in a Happy Meal.

I have to agree. The new ones do look stupid as fuck. Like French currency. It's embarrassing.

i think they look cool.

why are yall hating on famous US landmarks?

It's embarrassing to have to share oxygen with those people.

Then don't. Stick your head in a plastic bag and end your shame.

A new character on the Office?

"Ever notice how our country is filled with little pseudo-intellectual, self-loathing pieces of un-American shit"

Not really, dumbass. Certainly noticed some pretentious, pseudo-intellectual rightwing posers on the Drudge Retort, though, Pinochet.

Are you suggesting that it starts at home and if you are, wouldn't it be prudent to have instructional classes in the house of worship...the mosque as it is, to help parents keep their children away from the extremist life style?

I'm being serious here, because I feel that it takes not only an extremist by a willing student to create a terrorist.

And why are the majority muslim?

i think they look cool.

why are yall hating on famous US landmarks?

They sound cool. Mine expires next year so I'll have to wait until then to see it. If I don't like it, I guess I won't look at it.

I've heard that they don't send your old one back any more if you request that. Does anyone know if this is true? I've kept my last three as souvenirs and I'd like to keep this one. (the Columbian work visa page is cool) If they don't send them back, I might "lose" it before I get my new one.

Anyone know?

They most always let you keep your old passport when they give you a new one.

Just make sure you don't mail it in...renew in person.

They may have attended the same mosque as the other raqdicals in Alexandria VA..

the Columbian work visa page is cool

You had to get a work visa to work in Washington, The District of Columbia?

Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

Anyway, there's plenty of pictures of the new passport. Try searching for them on the Internet. Or, you know, don't, if that will ruin the surprise.

Actually I thought that was a cool picture -- longhorns being herded. But maybe I'm biased being from Texas.

Just curious, snoofy -- do the US quarters offend you with their wide variety of state icons on the back? They are far more visible to the world than an American passport.

Just curious, snoofy -- do the US quarters offend you with their wide variety of state icons on the back? They are far more visible to the world than an American passport.

Not really. The "In G-d We Trust" is the most offensive thing about our currency.

The problem with the passport is the function of the passport has been re-purposed to make a political statement. A passport should simply get you from point A to point B without being preachy, without espousing any sort of ideology whatsoever.

It takes a manipulator and a mind open to manipulation to create a boy or young man who can be brainwashed into thinking that it is better to blow himself up than to live another day in this life.

More than sad. It is perhaps the most despicable of actions in which a human being can partake...sending a child to their death.

agreed.

"It is perhaps the most despicable of actions in which a human being can partake...sending a child to their death."

According to the Ayatollahs and other peaceful Muslims it is a glorious thing to do.

"Ahmadinejad's World
The deployment of the Basiji in the mine fields shows what one can expect from the Mullah-Regime By Matthias Kntzel

In pondering the behavior of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, I cannot help but think of the 500,000 plastic keys that Iran imported from Taiwan during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-88. At the time, an Iranian law laid down that children as young as 12 could be used to clear mine fields, even against the objections of their parents. Before every mission, a small plastic key would be hung around each of the children's necks. It was supposed to open for them the gates to paradise.

"In the past," wrote the semi-official Iranian daily Ettela'at, "we had child-volunteers: 14-, 15-, and 16-year-olds. They went into the mine fields. Their eyes saw nothing. Their ears heard nothing. And then, a few moments later, one saw clouds of dust. When the dust had settled again, there was nothing more to be seen of them. Somewhere, widely scattered in the landscape, there lay scraps of burnt flesh and pieces of bone." Such scenes could henceforth be avoided, Ettela'at assured its readers. "Before entering the mine fields, the children [now] wrap themselves in blankets and they roll on the ground, so that their body parts stay together after the explosion of the mines and one can carry them to the graves."[1]

The children who thus rolled to their deaths formed part of the mass "Basij" movement that was called into being by the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979. The Basij Mostazafan the "mobilization of the oppressed" consisted of short-term volunteer militias. Most of the Basij members were not yet 18. They went enthusiastically and by the thousands to their own destruction. "The young men cleared the mines with their own bodies," a veteran of the Iran-Iraq War has recalled, "It was sometimes like a race. Even without the commander's orders, everyone wanted to be first."[2]"

I read the article in its entirety. Thank you for posting the link.

My primary concern with islam and its so-called moderate adherents is that there is no directed condemnation of the mullahs who teach this anti-life doctrine to their congregation.

Here's the kicker...

"The natural world," Khomeini explained in October 1980, "is the lowest element, the scum of creation." What is decisive is the beyond: the "divine world, that is eternal."[18]

IMO...whormeini was a scum of creation.

Lovely.

and we need to find these manipulators and punish them.

Yes...to make the world a safer place for future generations.

Did you read the article liked by jest...?

Honestly, how are they to be punished?

My primary concern with islam and its so-called moderate adherents is that there is no directed condemnation of the mullahs who teach this anti-life doctrine to their congregation.

I guess you didn't notice, but there were massive protests in Iran just recently.

By the way, where was your direct condemnation of the United States government for supporting these mullahs? Were you out there protesting when Ollie North gave the Ayatollah all those guns? When the CIA trained the Mujhadeen and gave Al Qaeda its start? When the Bush administration gave millions to the Taliban in the summer of 2001?

i disagree with this heavily.

and i discussed it heavily on another thread the other day.

besides iran and its clerical regime doesn't speak for islam... their existance is against the koranic message of NO clerical class.

there are plenty of people speaking out against these fuckers and thats why the jihadists are blowing up mosques. they want to kill the imams that are speaking up against them.

Which mullahs?

The CIA trained Mujahadeen in response to the communist threat from their north.

I don't have any proof that Oliver North supplied whormeini with guns. If you do, please provide it.

The Obama administration is giving millions to small businesses in Iraq? Your point being....?

The CIA trained Mujahadeen in response to the communist threat from their north.

Yes, that's how Al Qaeda was born. Al Qaeda, ever heard of them? Does the name Osama bin Laden ring a bell? We made them what they are.

Of course, if you think the attacks we endured on 9/11 were a small price to pay for bringing down the USSR, that's fine.

Is that what you think?

I don't have any proof that Oliver North supplied whormeini with guns. If you do, please provide it.

Here you go.
en.wikipedia.org

According to The New York Times, the United States supplied the following arms to Iran:[22]

* August 20, 1985. 96 TOW anti-tank missiles
* September 14, 1985. 408 more TOWs
* November 24, 1985. 18 Hawk anti-aircraft missiles
* February 17, 1986. 500 TOWs
* February 27, 1986. 500 TOWs
* May 24, 1986. 508 TOWs, 240 Hawk spare parts
* August 4, 1986. More Hawk spares
* October 28, 1986. 500 TOWs

I guess you didn't notice, but there were massive protests in Iran just recently.

By the way, where was your direct condemnation of the United States government for supporting these mullahs? Were you out there protesting when Ollie North gave the Ayatollah all those guns? Yes, I did notice the massive protests taking place in Iran and created and voiced by Iranian citizens against the tyranny of their government. I did not catch any protests or criticisms from their religious leaders. Unfortunately, Montazeri is no longer around to speak out and criticize the current regime.

As far as North is concerned, he did what his administration told him to do. At the time, it seemed beneficial for our leaders to cooperate and supply those forces fighting against Russia.

I write letters to my representatives, our country's presidents and have done so on many occasions, citing my disagreement with their involvement in the affairs of those outside out borders.

I don't agree with our politicians giving any taxpayer's dollars to further the causes of any foreign entity. I believe those funds should be used to benefit our citizens.

Do you write your reps and tell them what you think? If not, you should.

i disagree with this heavily.

and i discussed it heavily on another thread the other day.

I read your comment on recent topic about the tyranny you disagree with concerning those who terrorize in the name of allah.

Iran and its terror regime speak for those muslims in power in their country, I'm well aware of that.

But, this is iran's civil war. I hope those who want liberty and to be treated fairly and who want to be able to give their children a safe, secure and healthy future, succeed in ousting the rich and powerful 'fukkers' (as you say, and appropriately so) from their leadership.

As far as North is concerned, he did what his administration told him to do. At the time, it seemed beneficial for our leaders to cooperate and supply those forces fighting against Russia.

But was it worth it? Was 9/11 worth the cost of quagmiring the USSR in Afghanistan?
