Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The blubbery sea lions at Pier 39, one of San Francisco's smelliest and most famous tourist attractions, are gone. During the last week of November, they left the wooden docks on which they've spent the last 20 years and no one knows if they'll be coming back. "We have no idea where they moved on to or why," said Shelbi Stoudt, who manages a team that helps stranded animals in the San Francisco Bay from the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California.

It's Obama's fault!

They've been outsourced.
That or their the new special at Alioto's.

THEY'RE!
Shhesh.. Fucking spellcheck nazis.

I was looking at the seals less than four months ago while eating clam chowder on a balcony overlooking the animals. San Francisco is wonderful.

I like ice-skating across from the Ferry building.

Which one? I would imagine SF has lots of fairy buildings.

The sea lions just could not tolerate Dianne Feinstein any longer.

Case closed.

The sea lions' disappearance is as strange as their initial colonization of the pier about 20 years ago, in late 1989. They just started showing up one day and as their numbers increased, their traditional hang out, Seal Rocks, became less populated. There are all sorts of theories about why the pier became a favorite haul-out spot for the sea lions, but no one knows for sure why the animals' behavior changed.

Weirdness.

Didn't even say "so long" or "thanx for all the fish" or nothing?

Bloody ingrates!

The whole damned lot of them could use a good clubbin'!

Be Well.

/Yes, kidding.
//Playing up Canuckistani stereotypes doncha know.

They were eaten by dupes like Moder-H8, who think he had 'clam' chowder. Just how stupid is Moder-H8? He doesn't know the difference between sea lions and seals. Truly, government-paid public defender material.

Acorn killed them.

San Francisco has a lot of wonderful qualities but the city is dying due to liberal policies. The city has always had a homeless problem, but now it is clearly out of control. If one is out downtown at night - and no - not in the seedy areas but in any of the major downtown hotels like Parc 55, etc the entire area around the hotel becomes filled with homeless around 6PM and starts to reek of urine by 9PM. While some tourists will still enjoy sites downtown, I doubt many will continue to come back year after year as the hygiene of the city drops to new lows along with safety.

Could be any number of things...but Newsom is only concerned with a few.

I bet most of the locals are happy about this.

The homeless are a visual blight on San Fran, no question about that. But, imho, it is still the most beautiful city in the USA, and I have been to almost every major city in this great country. (Chicago and San Diego are also high on my list.) Someday after I retire, my wife and I are thinking of relocating to the Bay area.

I read an article in the local paper about two women who moved here from different states. In their former residences they were heavily involved with looking after the homeless. They were interested in setting up a program here. The problem they were running into was that they could not locate any homeless to help...............

The homeless in San Francisco are omnipresent in the downtown area after sunset.

#12 | Now we know why the sea lions left... all the "liberal policies."

Somebody needs to club this moron with a mackerel.

It's not that bad. I used to walk from Lotta's Fountain ( 3rd and Market) through the financial district and into China Town, on may way to North Beach and never once had any kind of problem.

Yes this was at night.

I will admit there are neighbrhoods you don't want to be anywhere near while in SF. They are few and far between.

People who go about slamming one of the most historic cities in America have never been there, never attended a concert in Golden Gate Park, never ate clam chowder/calamari/Dungeness crabs at pier 39 or attended/visited one of the many breweries, museums, shops, theaters, restaurants or street vendors that san fran has to offer.

My guess is that in their ignorant stupor of hannity inspired views, they imagine the city in its collective is what in reality can only found on one street (Polk). It's similar to how these stupid asses view Hawaii as a "foreign" land, when in realty it's an American State. Their stupidity has no bounds, and quite frankly, san fran offers things far beyond what their intellect is capable of appreciating.
San Francisco is one of the most beautiful and famous cities in the world, people from all over the world travel to see it while no one goes to Arkansas (anywhere) or the other 90% of backward American shitholes these DR dirtbags post from.

Here are the options
1.PETA scared them off
2.They have entered the witness protection program
3.Al Gore showed up in SF
4.Got wind that "O" is planning a visit after vacation.
5.Found out that their medical care is going to be cut with the new healthcare legislation.

Damn, yoiu are just filled with hate. You could have just said you think SF is a really nice place. But, you really are the worst of the people you just tried to make fun of. SF in many ways is a great city, and in many ways a crappy city. It is like a lot of other places, just more extreeme of the good and bad.

Just how stupid is Moder-H8?

Funny coming from the retard that still owes RCade an apology for his rant about deletion of another thread that in fact had not been deleted.

Was Raised closed to San Fran. Norcal is the greatest place on earth. Just wish rent was more affordable.

What's the matter with everybody?

The sea lions are gone and Bush did it!

Short sighted nitwits!

"Damn, yoiu are just filled with hate"

This is the Thread where "calling a spade a spade" suddenly became "hate" to a WingDing! Go Figure (Snark)!

Perhaps I should have prefaced it with "Somebody's Gotta Say it" so as to not hurt the sensibilities of you WingDings (somebody's gotta say it is a book full of vicious and vile attacks on Americans that the "right" just loved)

Its amazing how when the Spiritual and Intellectual Leaders of the "right" spend day after day attacking Americans they don't like ----- its not viewed as "hate" by the very same douche bags who rush to defend them.
It's truly incredible that im full of hate, but Neil boortz saying that American businesses shouldn't hire people with "foreign sounding names" is just calling it like it is!

You people are truly a pathetic Mass of self imposed ignorance.

Good riddance!

Homeless in S.F. are omnipresent and come out after sunset; disappearing sea lions; food ---is a picture emerging?

Last time we visited S.F. was about 10 years ago and we experienced the same feeling and won't go back unless things change

I try to get up to San Francisco about three times a year. Friendly people. Lots of diverse neighborhoods. Lots to do and see. Great public transportation. AT&T Field in the downtown. What's not to love?

Add Toronto to that list.

No one has bothered to ask if the sea lions are victims of global climate change.

Nor has anyone asked WHY there are homeless in S.F. A clue: It ain't liberals' fault.

Our church wall has a quote by the late Brazilian archbishop Dom Helder Camara: "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a Communist." herm

The bay filters impurities, but if there were something less natural - this smells like a military "oopsy!". But where are the bodies?

From what I understand the developers already know what land is "too" toxic.

How very sweet of you to leap to the defense of Moder-H8! Really quite adorable!

Vermin, how nice to see you here again. Did you learn your lesson, or are you just a masochist thirsty for more embarassment?

Like rats leaving a sinking ship; bye, bye S.F.
Here comes the big one!

Animals are amazing and they could be sensing a major change such as an earth-quake of big proportions--just a thought.

That's true what you said about animals first sensing some impending earthquake but don't even think it! My earthquake homeowners' insurance on the house costs an arm and a leg but I know with my luck the minute I'd cancel it we'd have an 8.0 or higher in L.A. I upped my earthquake coverage last year as it's been awhile since we've had a major one in So. Cal so I figured we're overdue. Even so, my deductible is about $27,000 before the earthquake insurance coverage would even kick in.

It took me a little while to get over the 6.7 Northridge earthquake back in 1994. I was in bed asleep, as were most people since it was 4:31 a.m., but it sure woke you up fast. I had a couple framed pictures on my bedroom wall and the force of the quake actually caused the pictures to come flying right out of the picture frames but left the frames on the wall - strange. The huge Galleria Mall, which was only 3 blocks away from my apt., had the 2nd and 3rd floors of their outdoor parking structure pancake to the ground.

One guy, 27, who lived closer to the epicenter, was actually killed inside his apt. when his microwave oven came flying across the room and hit him in the head.

There's not much in life that concerns me but if I lived out there I imagine the thought would cross my mind once in awhile.

I have un-fond memories of those loud, obnoxious, foul smelling beasts also.

Visited the pier many moons ago for the first time.

While dining in Aliotos (over priced, over crowded, overrated trendy spot)I couldn't figure out what all the racket was.

Glad I ate before witnessing and smelling those vermin.

Good riddance!

I was in SF several years ago on vacation and took a city tour that originated at the downtown bus terminal. Before I boarded the tour bus I went downstairs to take a piss and have to tell you I just about got physically ill in the men's room from the reeking smell that was created by all of the homeless men hanging out in there! Based on what I have read above, this problem keeps getting worse. I have no desire to ever go back to that city!

Animals are amazing and they could be sensing a major change such as an earth-quake of big proportions--just a thought.

That's what came to mind when I first heard this story. These sea lions showed up at Pier 39 right after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

WHY??? THOSE HOMOS KILL THEM FOR FOOD???

You're a total moron. All the gratis pole-smokers like BiggieDan eat their meals in the Aliotos bathroom.
