Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

You just can't make up how brazen this crowd is. One week ago, President Obama quietly signed an executive order that makes an international police force immune from the restraints of American law.

I'd like to see the liberal Drudge "law experts" explain this unprecidented move by the POTUS. Northy?

Not a legal expert myself, but it seems like Obama is giving Interpol diplomatic status. This could be revoked as easily as given. Moreover, I'd assume American Interpol agents get the same priveleges in other nations, quid pro quo.

I't would seem that sections 3,4,5 and six have to do with only taxes and revenue issues. However he also removes the restriction of section 2(c). This allows Interpol to be exempt from search and prohibits us from searching their archives as well.
That is bothersome, at a time like this, to take away the ability to monitor the goings on of foreign police is wrong.

That being said the article is being a little dramatic.

Here is the original order from Reagan.
en.wikisource.org
That was amended by Clinton, also tax stuff.
frwebgate.access.gpo.gov
And finally by obama
edocket.access.gpo.gov

The text of the International Organizations Immunities Act which the order pertains to is here.

Read it for yourself, there is no reason to take away the restrictions of Interpol and essentially grant them full diplomatic immunity.

According to right wing conspiracy theorists, Obama surrenders US sovereignty every week. Wasn't Copenhagen the last time that Obama ceded US sovereignty?

I find it very odd that the Obama Administration would even review the Reagan Exec. Order muchless change it to grant Interpol full diplomatic immunity.

Why?

And why are they buying so much ammo?

That's a shitload of ammo for 15,000 or so employees!

It's that shitty .40 S&W (Short & Weak) the Wash cop shot the perp with; Hit him twice; He lived a long time; Cop didn't.

I like the short Winter here; I can carry my .44 magnum.

.44 are nice, but the .50 cal Desert Eagle sure is nice in case you need to stop a truck or suicide elephant.

"44 are nice, but the .50 cal Desert Eagle sure is nice in case you need to stop a truck or suicide elephant."

Did you ever consider not getting yourself into a situation where you need to stop a suicidal elephant? Just wondering.

A chimp escaped from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center not long ago. It was shot in my pasture when it charged a cop.

People who are defending this are the same people that despised the Patriot Act. They forget which country they owe their allegiance to.

"The chimp fell or jumped from the truck and started toward the officer with arms flailing, according to the report.

"The officer shouted at least twice that he was going to shoot," the report said."

Hilarious!

"They forget which country they owe their allegiance to."

What is your problem? The head of Interpol is an American, so that should make you feel better.

Interpol doesn't not go around breaking down doors and arresting people... it's main job is to share intel and keep tabs on international crime.

All that has happened is that America is finally behaving like the rest of the world in this matter.

I'd assume American Interpol agents get the same priveleges in other nations

Correct.

en.wikipedia.org

Ronald Kenneth Noble (born 1957, at Fort Dix, New Jersey) is an American law enforcement officer, and the current Secretary General of Interpol. He is the son of an African-American father and a German-born mother.

(Most people think Mr.Noble is one fine international cop)

INTERPOL-United Nations Security Council Special Notice

All that has happened is that America is finally behaving like the rest of the world in this matter.

A paranoid idiot is not going to see it that way.

Except America isn't "the rest of the world".

We're a superior and exceptional nation-state.

And the world's sole superpower.

One doesn't simply attain that status from a Cracker-Jack box.

Maybe if the rest of the world was on equivalent footing as America I would care. I could give a shit what France or Germany thinks. I would be more impressed if they just went at it again until one of them was destroyed. This whole pretend that there friends because they are both in the EU is pathetic

Technically, every member of the UN, all 192 of them, has signed over their sovereignty to the UN.

Except America isn't "the rest of the world".

America is a bankrupt nation, both morally and financially. Pride comes before the fall.

Pride comes before the fall.

Hubris, downfall of the Greeks.

Be Well.

"America is a bankrupt nation, both morally and financially. Pride comes before the fall"

Woo hoo!! Finally, after all these years...we agree on something!! : )

I'm not a big fan of the UN (Oil for food).

I'm just wondering why, after 26 years, Obama decides to amend the Executive Order? With this administration, you have to watch what the other hand is doing.

Another moron with an uncritical loyalty to our criminal government as a dog to its master.

With this administration, you have to watch what the other hand is doing.

One thing is for sure, it's not giving you a reach around.

"This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States."

Seeing as how granting foreign cops absolute power is unconstitutional, it seems to me like the authority of Interpol in the US can be successfully challenged in our courts.

Just because the idiot signed a bill doesn't mean its legal. It may cost someone a million bucks to persue the case and the SCOTUS may have to weigh in but having unaccountable foreign cops running around the US most likely can't be legal under any circumstances unless we were to ammend the Constitution.

This and this are prime examples of what is advocated for immunity. This documents the plan produced by the Rand Corporation.

The pen is mightier than the sword. And with this Pres., we're gonna need a lot of ink.

It's just another bow to the global police. Money brings immunity and Interpol must have a bunch of cash.
