"Ariadne!"

--Dyslexic Rocky Balboa

I don't know who Ariadne Huffanan is, but from that article I'd say she's a complete twit. Most Americans have never seen a spruce or pine tree? Really? They only grow in Minnesota and Alaska? Despite her pontification that the Christmas tree is a "foreign concept" which we should abandon, she seems to know nothing of the history of the Christmas tree in America. I wonder if her tune would change if she knew they are farmed in all 50 states -even Hawaii. That the practice was popularized by Teddy Roosevelt as a means of bolstering the environment. That lots of folks use red cedars as Christmas trees. Red cedars are really juniper trees. They're an invasive species from Japan. So when we cut down cedar trees, we're ridding the environment of a foreign invader.
What a sad and hateful woman...

World-renowned??!!

As about as "world renowned" as you, wacko-boy.

"Why is Obama effectively making Christianity the state religion....?"

By having a Christmas tree? I have to agree with my friend VALIS, that's a pretty sad and hateful point of view. Not to mention stupid and shallow.

"My research shows those trees (pines) are only growing in a small section of the country...."

The woman did no research.

Yes, we have trees in Brentwood (hence its name), but we don't have Christmas trees growing there: we've got palm trees. Show of hands: how many of you have ever seen a spruce or a pine?

This has to be a joke site.

Nobody is this provincially ignorant, even in L.A.

Are they?

Regarding the link being a "joke", I should add that the linked site is the original, despite a smear campaign that the HuffPost has conducted against them. The linked site was online before the HuffPost, and in fact Ariadne refers to the HuffPost as "that parvenue site".

"I should add that the linked site is the original..."

Doesn't mean they're not stark-raving lunatics.

Besides, they claim to be libertarian:

huffandblow.com

From the website:

A celebrity group blog from Ariadne Huffanan and Prince Gerdt von Linbloewer.

Everyone is right, this has to be a joke, and you completely missed it.

Well Dave, you know lonewhackjob-anyone that doesn't agree 100% with him is a "Liberal Douchebag".....

From The (batshiat insane) Article: This is America, not some country with a state religion. This country was founded on freedom of religion, which also means freedom from religion. Why is the Obama administration making Christianity in effect a state religion?

~Ariadne Huffanan

/Not to be confused with Ariana Huffington.

Couple things here.

The "Freedom from religion" thing while being true is not particularly relevant here.

Obama is a Christian.

Ergo if he wants a farking Xmas tree at the WH he gets one as part of that whole "freedom of religion" thing.

Second, putting a Xmas tree up in no way, shape or form advocates a state religion.

Finally, the "World-renowned pundit and liberal doyenne, Ariadne Huffanan" original article has merited a sum total of zero responses.

Some kind of massive internet conspiracy to ignore her, ya think?

Wonder is Ariadne blogs over at the Retort under the name Skip Wellington?

Just a thought.

Be Well.

Skip Wellington=professor James Moriarty

*right Sherlock?*

If we're going to have a tree for our winter festival, why not a native or indigenous plant, such as the saguaro cactus?

Wonder how long the cacti would last if we start cutting them down for Christmas trees? 15 minutes?

She sounds like another wacko-lib to me.
