The President today declared a major disaster exists in the State of Alabama and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by Tropical Storm Ida during the period of November 9-10, 2009.

Between his lips.

O boy!

ANOTHER President Obama-bashing thread. Likely the first post will be a GWB deflection from The Left and that will be followed by yet another goatman whine about The Left deflecting to Bush.

Oh...

Never mind.

Trueblue -- your forgot to add that there will be no posts from the left admitting error on Obama's part.

"Two tropical storms made landfall in the U.S., causing little more than rain and some beach erosion. "We had a great, great year," said Chris Vecsey, a salesman at Top Gun Tackle in Orange Beach, Ala., near where Tropical Storm Ida slogged ashore in November. "Last year we had Gustav and Ike and a couple of other storms that didn't even hit here. And with all the hype, it ruined us. It just didn't happen this year."

So why does anyone care now?

"YES! A four or five day hurricane party in LaFayette, LA for GoM oil workers. The Holiday Inn loves the hurricanes. They get rich from oil patch trash. We will be evacuated in a few hours.

Thank you Ida!

I mean obviously even those in the area were desperately afraid for their lives and could think of nothing else but the lack of Federal aid...

:-)

I'd guess the bills finally came in and Alabama wants the Feds to pay them?

At least in the oil industry, the private sector is always ahead of the government. You mentioned Ida. During Katrina, we were evacuated to New Orleans. A full 24 hours before Nagin ordered an evacuation, my company moved us all to LaFayette because they saw the storm coming.

It feels like a storm tonight! Seas are picking up big time. Rig is rockin' and rollin'. Good sleeping seas when I get off at 6:00

Possibly true. That's not much of a problem since there likely will be many (in addition to yourself) that will eagerly fill that void.

Meanwhile, I have noticed quite a bit of "Left Grumblings" on other recent issues so maybe your prediction is premature. For some it's sweet schadenfreude; for others it's a refreshing change from the lock-stepping earlier in this decade.

In the meantime goatman, I hope you have a fun Christmas (even though it's 'on-the-rig') and also that you get to spend some relaxing good times with your family soon!

My industry is the same... they react quickly to get their people amd gear out of the way when they can. (We can't move, we just cover up)

My only point here is that those who brushed off "Ida" as an insignificant event while it was actually happening don't get to come back a month later and question the lack of Federal response as if it was some kind of impending disaster.

Here's a quick quiz:

a) "Ida" was a massive storm proving Climate Change is real.

b) Obama made a good call not freaking out about "Ida".

I think we're on the same page anyway.

I must have missed this. Where are the bodies?

How many thousands were killed?
How many millions left homeless?
How many large cities flooded to the rooftops?

What's that? Just the usual few people dead and injured from a storm?
Some minor numbers and no serious flooding?

STRAWMAN ALERT!

This is clearly Obama buying another vote for healthcare. It doesn't take 6 weeks to do this.
