Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger has said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response was posted on the internet and is best regarded as an essay clearly meant for a wider audience than just Dr Laura. It is a general reminder that many belief systems pick and choose their way through biblical teachings in determining what is "right" and "wrong". Authorship has been attributed to several, but remains unconfirmed.

I couldn't have said it better myself. LOL

You're aware of why they call it NEWs, right?

"Laura Schlesinger has said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination."

Not to split grammatic hairs, but how long has homosexuality been an orthodox Jew? herm

ROFLMAO

"homosexuality is an abomination."

The same word is used in the same book regarding shellfish.

In other words, according to The Bible, homosexuality is about as bad as having a shrimp cocktail.

I would like to know what religious people think when a show about dinosaurs and the giant giant universe comes on.

Not an attack on Christianity, I really would like to know the explanation of it.

This is actually an old letter. It was also referenced in a West Wing episode.

The part about shellfish and being and old letter was referenced in the link---you should have read it, it is very funny.

Not an attack on Christianity, I really would like to know the explanation of it.

It isn't really an attack as much as it is a mirror on all three major religions, and it isn't against Christianity alone, since she references it as a jew who read it in the Torah which is the same as the OT, and the Koran.

That's funny, but very, very old. I got that in an email at least 10 years ago.

That was stated in the link. That was stated by Danforth. That was stated earlier in the thread. Your post is very, very old news.

That was stated in the link.

???

I didn't see my name in that article anywhere. And how would the author be so intimately familiar with the contents of my email?

You truly are losing it big time, bOoB.

I would like to know what religious people think when a show about dinosaurs and the giant giant universe comes on.

If they have any intelligence they see a direct connection between Science and Creation. The fossil evidence supports evolution, my personal belief is all things were created (Sorry danni) then started to evolve...

Birds for example are the only animals still in existence with a "Wish Bone" just like dinosaurs, fossil evidence proves horses were once the size of house cats. Science and Religion go hand in hand and support intelligent design...

When I watch a show on the giant giant universe and dinosaurs, I laugh at the abundance of people who deride Christianity because of a false understanding of how Genesis, creation and the universe can be interpreted.

There are vast amounts of fools out there that think they know all things about a book and a goup of people that they have never fully read or fully interacted with. People who paint with broad brushes and decry something fierce when they are painted in an opposing light by someone else.

I become hysterical when I think of how unable people seem to be to see past their own nose on which rests their only understanding, as small as it may be, of the people around them and the beliefs they hold.

Dinosaurs are no threat, and an old galaxy is no threat.

There is no reason to believe that animals did not die from the beginning. There is no reason to believe that the animals did not need other animals for food. There is no reason to think death a bad thing if instituted by God for a purpose in his creation. In the biblical text, the animals have a purpose, but they are not redeemed, and as not being redeemed or capable of sinning, seem to always have lived forever, or must die when their time comes. Seeing as animals die now, animals must have always died after their life span had ceased.

I do not see why so many outside of the beleif systmes of "Christianity" cannot understand that not all "Christians" believe that the earth is 6,000 years old with a grand dino farse to test our faith.

Well, it may be an old letter, but she IS an old hag.

Of course the purpose of posting the story is solely to take any opportunity possible and use as broad of a brush possible to slam Christianity. There is no aim at expressing truthfully actual beliefs.

There are so many different angles to this. There is the Orthodox Jew who believes certain things very differently from the Christian. There is OT law vs the NT . There is Dr Laura who stands for morality in general, with a Jewish background. Then there is this poster who surreptitiously portends to be a Dr Laura supporter, but is obviously only an ignorant Bible basher.

As the intent is not to seek truth, there is no point served to provide the full Bible defender point of view. That would only lead to further Bible bashing commentary by those who never intended to discuss the subject with integrity.

Outside of any theology discussion, Dr Laura is no-nonsense. She will not sugar coat or tell you what you want to hear. She's all about societal ethics and responsible living. The convenient Bible bashing is just a distraction to what she stands for as the antithesis of today's society.

Getting back to the Biblical question, suffice it to say that the ignorant poster makes all these references to OT law while never providing the numerous NT references which also back the same principles.

She's all about societal ethics and responsible living.

Yeah right.

Her claim to be a "licensed psychotherapist", and her use of the "Dr. Laura" name while giving advice have engendered controversy. Critics contend that these titles lead her listeners to assume that she holds a doctorate in psychology, or that she is a psychiatrist, and that state law in California limits the use of the "psychotherapist" term to those holding a psychotherapist license.[23][24] However, she does hold a California license as a family and marriage counselor which she obtained after completing classes and training from the University of Southern California (USC),[25][26] and her Ph.D in physiology qualifies her for the title of Doctor.

In 1998, Schlessinger was in a Costa Mesa surf shop, with her son, when she began perusing Big Brother, a skateboarding magazine. Schlessinger deemed the magazine to be "stealth pornography," and said so on her radio show. When the owner of the store publicly denied that she found pornography in his store, Schlessinger sued him for lying, claiming that his denial had hurt her reputation.[31][dead link] When the case went to court, the judge dismissed her suit as frivolous but the shop owner's $4 million defamation countersuit lodged for hurting the reputation of his store, was allowed to stand.[32][33] The suit has since been settled, but the terms of the settlement have not been revealed.[34] Off the record, lawyers and friends claimed victory, indicating the settlement was "about the amount of a moderately-priced Orange County home" (at the time, $650,000 to $2 million).

Schlessinger was estranged from her sister for many years, and had not spoken to her mother for 18[6] to 20 years before her death in 2002.[13] Schelssinger's mother's body was found in her Beverly Hills condo approximately two months after she died from heart disease.[18][19] In 2006, Schlessinger wrote that she had been attacked in a "vulgar, inhumane manner by media types" because of the circumstances surrounding her mother's death, and that false allegations had been made that she was unfit to dispense family values advice. She explained that she had not mourned the deaths of either of her parents because she had no emotional bond to them.

Dr. Laura is as irrelevant as is the Old Testament.

She's got an ungodly hirsute snatch, to boot.

So what did humans start out as, and when did we become the humans we see today?

"when did we become the humans we see today?"

Last night after 2 a.m.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

This doesn't mean much, other than a lack of available youtube videos and prisonplanet articles.

In other words, according to The Bible, homosexuality is about as bad as having a shrimp cocktail.

Ha ha you used homosexuality, shrimp and cock in the same sentence.

...nice.
