Brittany Murphy, a 32-year-old actress who starred in the films Clueless, 8 Mile and Don't Say a Word and did voice work in Happy Feet and the TV series King of the Hill, has died after going into full cardiac arrest last night, according to TMZ. The Los Angeles Fire Department told the site it received a call from a home belonging to Murphy's husband Simon Monjack and the actress was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

hmmm....32yo dies of a heart attack, her husband is an internationally renown con-man. Nope nothing fishy here.

Cocaine.

Excuse me, but Who? name sounds kind of familiar but pic doesn't look familiar at all.

It didn't have to be foul play or drug abuse, for example, sometimes congenital cardiac/circulatory system defects are not noticed until a fatal occurence in the patient's 20's or 30's.

NO ONE GETS A CARDIAC ARREST AT AGE #@.32!!!! This is Baloney.

Coke is my guess.

Pills...Coke is so '80's.

"hmmm....32yo dies of a heart attack, her husband is an internationally renown con-man. Nope nothing fishy here."

"gee wiz i remember it was WMD and NOT osama bin laden for an excuse to invade iraq.....but you have that well thought out conspiracy theory, good luck with that."

Guess conspiracy theories only work in Hollywood.

I did not really follow her career, but it is a shame to lose a life at that age regardless of the cause...

NO ONE GETS A CARDIAC ARREST AT AGE #@.32!

When I was 27 a coworker my age dropped dead of sudden cardiac arrest. He was an athlete in good physical shape, but he had a congenital problem that was never detected. It happens.

A good friend of mine died the same way. He died on his living room floor while he was playing with his kids. At worst he might have had a beer that day.

BTW, my friend was 34 at the time.

I agree...it happens.

sometimes it's just time to go

a good reminder on how precious life is

I'm listening to this as background music

very soothing with nice pictures, too

I wouldn't have recognized her from that pic either.

She played Eminem's girlfriend in 8 Mile, and Alicia Silverstone's moony love-sick schoolmate (who eventually figures out the skateboarder is the right guy for her) in Clueless.

Lotta talent. RIP.

Damn good actor she was.

There are only so many fistfuls of prescription painkillers you can toss down the gullet before the heart goes KA-BOOM.

In high school a long-jumper on my track team had a cardiac arrest in English class. We ran cross-country together. He survived and had surgery. But he was maybe 17 at the time.

YEahhhhhhhhhh! That's great

Man, this is sad news to me. I really liked Brittany Murphy. I just watched a movie with her in it the other night. One I had seen a few times before already. Since she was addicted to sleeping pills and possible pain killers, I have no doubt that they played a role in her death. Sad.

King of the Hill just isn't going to be the same without Luanne.

Damn, if we would have had universal healthcare she would still be alive.

Yeah, who? I haven't had T.V for several years now. Saw 8 Mile once, but I never was one to bother learning who these people on the screen were - other than the character's they played. Most Hollywood types offer little beyond the ability to act, and the ones who think they do, usually end up spoiling the parts they've played. It's hard not to look past self-righteous hacks who hop on some cause-wagon of-the-week (not that she was one of them... like I said, our paths never crossed so I don't really know who she was).

Eating disorders? What do we expect when acceptable womanly figures go from hour-glass to dog-bone, to Skexis-skeletor?

Given the first statement, how would you know enough to make the second statement?

Considering she was dead when the Paramedics arrived, that's doubtful.

Do you pride yourself on sounding stupid with each and every post?

TMZ is reporting the autopsy shows no foul play or criminal activities: it was a heart attack.

RIP

Wasn't she in that Wrestling Reality show hosted by Hulk Hogan not long ago?

At least she died trying to get clean (see she was in a shower...nevermind) unlike last week's unknown celebrity Chris Henry; why couldn't it have been Chris Brown? Or Kanye? Why why why.

And yours and ZATS would be WEIRD SCIENCE obviously.

She was also the voice of Luann on king of the hill. Ironically I looked her a few weeks ago after seeing 8 mile and wondering who the girl was in it. She no longer even looks like the girl she played in clueless. I saw she was in that movie and couldnt figure out who she was. But that movie is like 15 years old.
