The Obama administration will proceed with arms sales to Taiwan despite recent protests by Chinese officials, an American official said Tuesday. The official, Raymond Burghardt, is chairman of the American Institute in Taipei, the de facto United States Embassy in Taiwan.

Be careful here, China will go in and undercut our prices. Or they could decide to sell weapons to Texas.

No danni China will not sell weapons to Taiwan.

Our Chink overlords allow it? Hmmmm...

Spreading peace around the world! We sure do deserve that damn prize!

I guess this decreases the trade deficit however.

'CHINK' went out of fashion with Pink Panther 2.

China will have problems of is own soon enough. They are in for a REAL TOUGH lesson in Capitalism.

Read the current edition of Forbes Magazine if you don't believe me. They described the economy of China as the largest ponzi scheme in the world.

Their debts load is 70% of GDP.

They are about to fall big and fall hard and it will be messy. On that day the value of the dollar will rise and their currency will devaluate.

If you have any investments or retirement mutual funds invested in Asia I would strongly suggest you exit ASAP!

China very well may end up selling arms to Taiwan or whoever they can!

Yeah chessy why should any country be able to defend itself? i'm sure the Tibetans can vouch for the Chinese's integrity!

Pink Panther 2 was in fashion?

Dave, all I'm saying is we should be careful of any blow-back that may result from this.

But you're absolutely right, any country has the right to defend themselves.

selling guns to taiwan is like selling guns to bin ladin (lets just give more arms to another group thats wants to blow up america

This is part of how you bring pressure to China to help with N. Korea.

Tell China that because of the threat N. Korea poses to the other countries in the region we are going to sell them as many weapons as they can afford.

If they want us to stop then they need to stop N. Korea from all their crapp.

This makes N. Korea their problem and not ours.

We need to find a way to do the same with Iran. Get our act together. Drill for oil here so we do not need oil from the east and make Iran someone else's problem.

Yeah, and China calls in all debts past and present and we can kriss our ass goodbry.

IF China does, we will just default on them. NBD

No Big Deal

Use up all of THEIR oil first and leave OUR oil in the ground where it will become more valuable over time.

That is the most Strategic Oil Reserve you can get!

Increasing domestic oil drilling? That has been done for decades. It does not make us more secure nor does it lessen our dependence on foreign sources.

Why rush to use it all up?

Or they could decide to sell weapons to Texas.

Compared to U.S. made firearms, Chinese weapons suck. American guns are much better than Chinese shit.

Sure, whatever...

That must be why SO MANY US troops in the Vietnam War abandoned their US MADE M-1's for AK-47's?

Check your calendar, dumb fuck.

I would take a Remington .223 over an AK any day.

" Vietnam War abandoned their US MADE M-1's "

*headdesk*

AKs are very reliable.

They are also very sloppy.

Handloaders prefer one-shot kills.

A Colt Government Model is also a fine weapon.

Zat - do I remember right that you've posted a pic of a S&W .44 mag?

smith and wesson 44 mag very nice gun from experience

I've got a Super Blackhawk

Colt? - if you want a great .45 get a Kimber.

MSGT - That's what I've heard, but I've fired two and seen them both foul. We go out and shoot hundreds of rounds at a time. My Colt doesn't foul, spits out nice brass too. I think Kimbers are over rated and over priced. I've heard a police officer call his Kimber a $1000 paper weight. He traded it in for a Springfield and likes it much better.

I cannot imagine ANY U.S. soldier or Marine of that era trading their M-1 Garand (or even the M-1 carbine) for an AK-47! You must be talking about the early M-16's and the terrible jams they had, later found to be the early military ammo.

The AK-47 is a very reliable weapon, even a bit more reliable (IMO) than the current M-16/M4, especially in bad weather conditions. However, when it comes to accuracy the AK-47 doesn't even come close.

So, Taiwan wants to blow up America?

***"I cannot imagine ANY U.S. soldier or Marine of that era trading their M-1 Garand (or even the M-1 carbine) for an AK-47! You must be talking about the early M-16's and the terrible jams they had, later found to be the early military ammo."***

I think you're right, it wasn't the M-1, it was the M-16. But I think the jams were as much due to the barrels as the ammo. Barrels corroded to quickly and caused a lot of problems. Later models had a coated barrel to help with the corrosion problem.

***"However, when it comes to accuracy the AK-47 doesn't even come close."***

Not even in the same ball park as the M-16. An AK-47 is effective out to about 300 yds (maybe), while an M-16 can be effective out to 600 yds. I remember in boot camp thinking, "I've got to hit THAT, from 500 yds away with no scope... no way!" After snapping in and a week on the range, it was 10 out of 10 in the black from all the way back. In my experience, it really was a surprisingly accurate weapon.
