Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Sunday, December 13, 2009

At a joint press conference Tuesday at the presidential palace in Kabul, Hamid Karzai surprised the usually unflappable Gates when he knocked down President Obama's attempt to get out of Dodge. Needling his American sugar daddy, the Afghan peacock observed: "For another 15 to 20 years, Afghanistan will not be able to sustain a force of that nature and capability with its own resources."

.....I supported the assault on Afghanistan after 9/11.......

.....but now it's time to stop wasting lives and money there......

.....the Karzai gang is just treating us like suckers, as soon as the foreign aid hits Afghanistan, most of it is transferred to Switzerland......

.....I am also an Obama supporter, but Mr.O., you are being suckered by a wiley leach, it's time to cut our losses and take care of America first......

America is the goose that lays the golden eggs.

And it's a pretty stupid goose.... so you can't blame this guy for trying to get a golden egg too.

you've come to the right place (no pun intended) . . .

simply layin' out facts and observations regarding Obama's ACTIONS is curing "hopey-changey syndrome" one yellow dog at a time

actually there are few lefties here . . . but they have multiple identities and make viscious posts so their numbers SEEM higher

.....I see.....you're from the "my party right or wrong" train of thought, so you think that everybody who voted for Obama is also like you.....

.....my choice was Obama because he was the best person in the running, that does not mean that I agree with all his decisions or that I think he can govern without making mistakes.......

......this is one of his mistakes, but overall I'd rather have him in the office than McCain, who if you recall, was pressing desperately for war with Iran just around the time of the election.......

.....if McCain was in office, today we would have a quarter million soldiers in Afghanistan and a half million in Iran, along with a major occupying force left in Iraq......

.....yes....Obama makes mistakes.....but I do not regret his presidency.........

simply layin' out facts and observations regarding Obama's ACTIONS

......fine......then instead of simply saying "Obama bad", tell us what you think he SHOULD DO in Afghanistan, DIFFERENTLY than what he is doing ??.......

.....and you were the one who predicted that you KNEW the fix was in and Obama would never become President......

......your powers of prognostication are pitiful....

.....McCain would have probably nuked Pakistan by now .......

Why? Pakistan has done nothing wrong to anyone.

you KNEW the fix was in

"The fix" took a different turn. They got to him and said "kid, if you wanna be President, you will just have to be the same as Bush".

And there you are! LOL

Obama sez one thing, and does the opposite. Someone got to him.

when the mission was defined I'd LISTEN TO MY GENERALS & ignore code pink

just sayin'

when the mission was defined I'd LISTEN TO MY GENERALS
#12 | Posted by markh

......Obama inherited a mission WITHOUT A "DEFINITION" from Bush, there was no exit plan.......

.....it's his job as Commander in Chief to tell the generals what to do, not the other way around........

......it's like telling the generals to listen to the privates and do what they are told......

......and .....you have no concrete suggestions as to what Obama should do in Afghanistan.......

......just as I thought......you've got nothing......

.....McCain would have probably nuked Pakistan by now .......

.......neither did Iraq.......Republicans don't care......

Iraq went to war against Kuwait and it all went downhill from there.

We have not gone to war or broken international law in any way.

Iraq went to war against Kuwait and it all went downhill from there.
.....#15 | Posted by Tosser

....that was the first Iraq war......

....for the second one, the Iraqis were honest, and the Americans made up lies to justify the invasion......

.....kind of funny Saddam said he didn't have WMD, and he was honest......

......Bush said Iraq had WMD's, and he was lying......

.....that's what Republicans are all about, if McCain was in charge, they would have done a "border incidence" like they did with Viet Nam (Gulf of Tonkin Incidence) and then attacked Pakistan......

.....don't underestimate the warmongering right in America, just look at their history........

Iraq went to war against Kuwait and it all went downhill from there.
#15 | Posted by Tosser

....also what they don't teach in history books, Saddam was just coming off fighting a ten year war against Iran, on behalf of the Americans...

....Saddam asked the Americans permission to attack Kuwait to get oil as partial payment for the Iran war....THE AMERICANS GAVE HIM PERMISSION TO ATTACK KUWAIT.......

.....it was only after the Saudis started complaining about the attack on Kuwait that America changed it's mind and PUNISHED SADDAM ....

The first gulf war would not have happened if it wasn't for Saudi Arabia getting their collective knickers in a bunch. Bush 41 gave Saddam Hussein tacit permission to invade Kuwait. It wasn't until Saudi arabia declared Saddam Hussein was getting too big for His britches that the war started.

Larry

and then attacked Pakistan......

It would not have happened. I just don't believe it.

Wonder how much mileage this thread will get?

It would not have happened. I just don't believe it.

....just keep hoping Obama gets re-elected.......

....I don't see a justification for a wider M.E. war myself, but some people around here don't really need one......

....but I think it was clear during the pre-election, that at the minimum, McCain would have started his presidency with an attack on Iran, he was bugging Bush to start the war, but to his credit, Bush did not listen to the Cheney gang anymore in his last year in office.......

....just keep hoping Obama gets re-elected.......

Doesn't matter any more. It's too late to attack Pakistan.

Doesn't matter any more. It's too late to attack Pakistan.

...the Pakistanis are behaving for the moment, but then so was Iraq.....

.....but don't worry, as long as Obama is in office, we won't start any fake wars......

Chimpy 2.0 too busy bowing and scraping to the world to do anything.

I think i disagree with how the chain of command is or as you think should be run. BO shouldnt be telling any general what to do period. He has no expierance fighting war. the Joint chiefs should hold councel with him and decide the mission then BO and all the stinking elected people along with the media should stand by and STFU while the mission is compleated. If the general says give me 100,000 more men then that request should be answered ASAP not while he sits on some golf course deciding when and how to go give some speach to a panel that gave him the cracker box prise of the century on the premis of what he might do in the future. As Sun Tzu states their are orders of the sorivern that shal not be fallowed.

The first mistake he made was not giving the generals the troops he needed before pakistan started into the swat valley put a unit on top of each and every hill on the border and kill anyone trying to cross into the afgan side would have been a nice way to start. sending in hundreds of drones with the orders to destroy anything the even closely resembles a rag headed militant paki would have been a good start. tell karzi to get your shit together or else would be a good place to start. turn the marines loose with the orders to shoot to kill any threat that exists and march from one border to the other-only now kill anyone trying to get into paki from afgan would be a nice way to start then tell the people of afganistan your country is now free of militants it is up to you to keep it this way and go home. After you teach the people of afganistan to raise pigs and chickens and sheep.

I sometimes wonder...if Saddam had not fired Scud missiles into Israel during the Persian Gulf War would we have ended up actually invading Iraq and hanging Saddam? Remember too that 9-11 was actually the emotional reason Bush was granted permission to invade by Congress and most Americans. At least partially, we carried out a war of revenge but it wasn't revenge for 9-11.

Bush was granted permission to invade by Congress and most Americans.

Bet you didn't realize you finally admitted the truth.... Leftist progressives will have your scalp....The resolution to war with Iraq wasn't permission to invade. Remember?

Sick her, gang!!!

Karzaic plays the bury Obama card by publicly pronouncing the all along was plan.

By your rationale, I can assume tht you fully support reinstatement of the draft or, at the very least, a compulsory military service for a minimum of 2 years for every American citizen. This way, the generals can have a fresh supply of bodies through theier S-1 and S-3 to fight long, protracted wars without clearly defined "victory." In fact, I should expect that first thing tomorrow morning, you will beat feet to the nearest recruitment station along with your sons and daughters to go enlist so that there is plenty of manpower to go around...or, maybe not,eh? I hate when REMFs armchair quarterback military missions.

Ya know Robert Heinlein had the idea that the decision to go to war other than to defend our borders was decided by a direct vote for or against. However the only people allowed to vote on it were those of military age and anyone who voted for imediatly enlisted.

How many wars would we have been in since WWII with that system?

Ya know Robert Heinlein had the idea that the decision to go to war other than to defend our borders was decided by a direct vote for or against.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress -- right?

The problem with this is that any time someone tries to inject a bit of common sense into our national dialogue, it gets dismissed quicker than a hoker shoing up for church on Sunday morning.

Welcome to the DR SGTSPANN

Goat,

It poped up breifly in MisaHM but was laid out in more detail in "For Us the Living" which was just released a couple of years ago I forget when but more than 2 and less than 10. It's suposed to be his first novel ever and it lays out almost all his basic concepts but is kind of raw. I would not recomend it to somoene new to RAH but if your a fan it's a great read.

SGT,

I have yet to hear a politician say anything like this. It is time that they started though. I think the fact that Obama is doing such an about face may allow enough people on the left to drop the blinders enough to open the way for a third party. The right got their teeth kicked in by Bush so now is the time if ever.

It is dificult and expensive to start a political party and I am too lazy and broke to be the crusader but if you start it I'll join.

Thanks, Tao -- I thought I had read every Heinlein, (including the unabridged Stranger in a Strange Land that was released after his death) but I haven't seen that one. Will look it up.

I get the coolest book suggestions from people on the DR!

I say give karzai all the time he thinks he needs without any supp
ort from any of our guys. Fuck him and his useless cronies.

"Where I do think I bring something unusual is, I think I have uncommon common sense, whether it's growing up in Kansas or just my life experience,

Why do i feel like Mr.Gates is channeling Monty Python?

I think i disagree with how the chain of command is or as you think should be run.

Yeah. Let's ignore 200+ years of going by the Constitution and do it your way cause the guy in office "doesn't have experience fighting a war".

None of them have experience fighting a war.

TROOPS--HOME--NOW

".....I supported the assault on Afghanistan after 9/11......."

So did I and so did most of us. Key word being "assault".

I never supported Bush's assinine nation building game over there though. Nor do I support Obama's inexplicable decision to continue Bush's failed policy.

Even if we dedicated 100,000 troops, wiped out supposed enemies and swept the country clean, Afghanistan would revert back to the terrorist shithole as soon as we left.

That's unless all the Republicans who post here are willing to send THEIR sons and money to this region for an indefinite period of time.

No, it's better to fund corporate America's war profiteers, line the pockets of the rich here and in Afghanistan while blaming the "failure" of the last President's hairbrain scheme on the current President.

GENSHERMAN-Why didn't the Bush President do as you suggest? hmmm... He had ONLY 8 YEARS!!!!

15-20 years? Good, you can have them. Alone. If your brothers' heroin trade can't buy you protection for that long, you're SOL.

Frankly, I think we should just torch the poppy plants on the way out. Never happen, but a man can dream...

when the mission was defined I'd LISTEN TO MY GENERALS & ignore code pink

Then again, when baby jesus is advising the Commander-in-Chiefly failing, who needs Generals? It's an automatic Mission Accomplishified!

Bush was granted permission to invade by Congress and most Americans.

Danni, Bush was granted permission IF the UN supported it. It didn't but the Dems in Congress lacked the balls to call him out on it. The UN was well aware of the BS Bush was using to sucker America into war. Remember them laughing at Powell with his faked video show? The Germans already knew the yellowcake story was BS and that Bush's sole source of WMD horror stories was a drunken Iranian agent. And then there was Hans Blix, slowly proving there was no WMD.

Israel was one of the reasons for the invasion, the Israeli first zionists that Bush packed the Pentagon with were suckered by Iran into believing Iraq would sell Israel cheap oil and recognize it's legitimacy. When greed meets stupidity, you can always be assured there'll be a republican doing the introducing.

Obama sez one thing, and does the opposite. Someone got to him.

They showed him what really happened in Dallas. The CIA version of the Zapruder film.

Me and my bwuder need you guys to cover for us, while we rob our country blind. Its just like the good ol' USA, only more brazen.

Karzai: We Need 15-20 More Years To Bankrupt Your Country

Another Headline completed by: Kanrei

Yes. I remember all the GOPers saying we shouldn't send more troops...no wait, that was Democrats. Oops.
So whats with the GOP anti-Obama posts? He did what you wanted I thought.

Let's give Mr. Karzai 15 - 20 years.

Preferably at hard labor...

Actually Code Pink is all about war now. Right after Obama got elected they suddenly started considering women's rights in countries like Afghanistan. Strange timing. *shrugs*

.....McCain would have probably nuked Pakistan by now .......
