Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Annise Danette Parker was elected mayor of Houston on Saturday, winning her seventh consecutive city election and becoming the first openly gay person to lead a major U.S. city. "Tonight the voters of Houston have opened the doors to history," she said. "I know what this win means to many of us who thought we could never achieve high office. ... But now, from this moment, let us join as one community."

kudos to Mayor elect Parker . . . from a fellow lesbian (tho trapped in a man's body)

ps - are there pillowfights scheduled?

ps - are there pillowfights scheduled?

Don't be silly, pillow-fights are for drag queens. Lesbians only enjoy tractor pulls and rodeos.

But seriously, Ms. Parker seems to be a good person. The biggest thing I got out of all her debates and speeches is that she doesn't believe that throwing money at a problem is always the answer. I strongly support that idea.

Other than that, I couldn't care less what she does in the privacy of her home.

Good for Houston. Dallas County has a lesbian sheriff who was re-elected in 2008, which is pretty interesting considering the perception of Texas as a socially conservative state.

Agreed.

"Other than that, I couldn't care less what she does in the privacy of her home."

To hell with that...I wanna watch!

Well Done, Houston!

From what I read of the two candidates, she seemed the better choice. I'm just so impressed that Houstonians didn't cut their nose off to spite their face. That happens a lot when the gay bug-a-bear is raised.

(And yes, that probably should be "bugger-bear".)

interesting observation on your part. . .
just wondering if your percecption is soo f'cked up because - -

a) too lazy to research the actual facts?

b) too biased to believe the actual facts?

ya can ponder it a bit if necessary . . .

need a lifeline? . . phone a friend

no friends? . . try wiki

In the end she licked her opponent.

"The times they are a'changin."

Like I always say, time is on our side, the forces of division and hate are slowly losing their grip on society. If Houston, Texas is electing a lesbian mayor what's next???

How can this be???? This woman can function in society and be elected to mayor of a big US city without special rights and protections?, no quotas?,no court mandated extra help?, you mean gay folks don't really need that kinda thing?, Maybe we should re-evaluate all those demands from the gay rights organizations.

Well constuct they are still barred from marriage in most states.

" This woman can function in society and be elected to mayor of a big US city without special rights and protections?"'

Actually, she did it in spite of the fact that she enjoys less equal rights and plenty of prejudice.

kudos to Mayor elect Parker . .

.....you don't even seem to know what lunch at the Y means.....

.....what are you ? ...like twevle years old ?....

Is she allowed to marry her partner in Texas? herm

I think that gays can have formalized and legal partnerships with out forcing civilization to change it's definition and concept of what marriage is that it has held for thousands of years. It's like a group trying to change the definition what terms of colors mean. It's just stupid, it guarantees that society will resist it and eventually there will be a rebellion and gays will end up worse than before. Gays need to stop trying to piss the majority off by redefining terms and concentrate on obtaining acceptance in the form of equal protection under the law in the spirit that all can live with.

.....they only piss off latent homosexuals, who subconsciously don't feel they will be able to resist the freedom to engage in man-love........

.....the rest of us are ok with gay marriage.......

......I mean it does not affect us one way or another......

.....only bugs the latents......

No one would force what Constuct perhaps laughingly terms civilization to change "it's" age old definition of marriage. But you cannot legally or morally prevent ANYONE from marrying his/her partner of choice. Gays do not try to piss off the majority, Connie, so the majority should quit trying to piss off gays. herm

We have a lesbian DA here in San Diego. First thing she did was pay off the gays lawsuit against the Boy Scouts for using the park free of charge for the last 40 to 50 years or so. About a million bucks.

As for this gal--she is a permanent fixture in Houston--won like 6 prior elections for various offices and the voters approved of her job.

And why not have a gay fiscal conservative?

Heck there are probably gay social conservatives too. Many are pro-life.

Just leave marriage traditional.

"The av American would lose 1/2 percent per yr to the tax, atleast. Is that Justice?????"

For now it will be but don't count on it long term Murphy, the demographics are such that it is inevitable. Deal with it. Your time of government sanctioned discrimination is slowly coming to a close.

"Just leave marriage traditional." It seems to be Get Murphy Day on two threads. But how about if you leave YOUR marriage traditional and leave others to define theirs as they see fit? herm

Sorry HERM - Gay pride parades and the like exist so that an in your face agenda can be pushed.

And you are 100% wrong - you CAN legally and morally prevent ANYONE from marrying his/her partner of choice. It's called democracy and civilization - two things you are against. When the will of the people is ignored we no longer live in a democracy. When society loses it's moral compass, we no longer are civilized - two targets of the libtard left of which you are a card carrying member.

Now please proceed to attack me and spew your devil may care BS about how closed minded it is to get upset over Obama cabinet members giving lectures on fisting.

But how about if you leave YOUR marriage traditional and leave others to define theirs as they see fit? herm

Most Americans are against gay marriage - don't like it - move.

"Most Americans are against gay marriage"

Many Americans believe a lot of stupid stuff.

Yes I know - our current president is a fantastic proof of that.

How so?

Billy El Cid is the one who's 100% wrong. Well, maybe 98.5%. Civilization and democracy can stand on their friggin' heads and still have zero to say about whom *I* wed or if I become a mother. herm

As for "Most Americans are against gay marriage - don't like it - move," I think that our town's gay pride community would suggest that if Cidney has a problem, HE should be the one to move. herm

Civilization and democracy can stand on their friggin' heads and still have zero to say about whom *I* wed or if I become a mother. herm

Indeed. Civilization and democracy can scream until they are blue in their faces, but as long as you carry that Y chromosome, your chances of becoming a mother are pretty much non-existent, herm.

Stan (herm): It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.

Reg: But you can't have babies.

Stan (herm): Don't you oppress me.

Reg: I'm not oppressing you. Where's the fetus going to gestate? You going to keep it in a box?

Just think of it a major city in Texas, has joined the new Century. Just 9 years into the New Century these REDNECK BASTARDS, were brought screaming into the new Century!!!!!!! GO HOUSTON!!!!!!!!!!! F**K DALLAS!!!!!!

"... leave marriage traditional."

Fine. Strip marriage of every legal standing and we'll quit bitching about it.

So long as the law attaches benefits and rights to the sacrament of marriage, that sacrament should be available to all.

F**K DALLAS!!!!!!

I guess celery is OK with lesbian mayors, but not lesbian sherrifs. It's hard to figure that girl out sometimes.

Just leave marriage traditional.

Your marriage can be as traditional as you want it, so stow the whining. Self-righteous assholes have no place ramming their superstitions down the throats of the unwilling.

I'm not familiar with her. I just would hope people voted for her for reasons other then the novelty of her being lesbian.

She was straight before an unfortunate encounter with BL2.

I'm not familiar with her. I just would hope people voted for her for reasons other then the novelty of her being lesbian.

If that were the case, I think her campaign slogan would have been "No, you can't watch."

It's just one of those signs of the times - people are just not as put off by homosexuality as they once were. I'm not kidding myself about our progressiveness though... it makes a big difference when you're talking about female homosexuality.

I guess what you put in your mouth is something that can go on a resume these days

kudos to Mayor elect Parker . .

Does that include the roughly 50% divorce rate?

"I'm not familiar with her. I just would hope people voted for her for reasons other then the novelty of her being lesbian."

True. I'm all for congratulating her on winning the election, but I tend to roll my eyes a bit at congratulating the voters, or the city of Houston itself, just because she's a lesbian.

There are those who voted for her for that reason, and there are those who voted against her for that reason. Question is, what does that have to do with being mayor of Houston?

Past time to stop making that a relevant, to say nothing of important, element of the story, IMO.

just wondering if your percecption is soo f'cked up because - - a) too lazy to research the actual facts? b) too biased to believe the actual facts?

I have no idea what you're talking about, Markh, and I have zero interest in playing a guessing game to figure out what you mean.

rcade I hope you will put the Lieberman story on the Front page :)

Just think of it a major city in Texas, has joined the new Century. Just 9 years into the New Century these REDNECK BASTARDS, were brought screaming into the new Century!!!!!!! GO HOUSTON!!!!!!!!!!! F**K DALLAS!!!!!!

#30 | Posted by celisary

Celisary, Houston is the first major U.S. city to elect an openly gay mayor.

How long into the New Century do you think it will take for all the "REDNECK BASTARDS" of the ever so inclusive and tolerant major cities of the north east and California to be brought screaming into the new Century!!!!!!!"?

Who cares if she's gay it was not brought up by her or any of her opponents in the race the only people to make an issue of it were outsiders with an agenda to push.

I didn't think Ms. Parker was the best candidate so I didn't vote for her. She missed audit deadlines as the City Controller more than once and blatantly lied about police endorsements.

I think Mr. Locke would have made a better Mayor. I believe his loss can be attributed to the major roll he played in the annexation of Kingwood into the city of Houston 13 years ago. The vast majority of people here in Kingwood still hate him for that as they never wanted to be part of Houston.

If Houston, Texas is electing a lesbian mayor what's next???

#10 | Posted by danni at 2009-12-13 10:48 AM

Maybe that fucked up ass backward state of California will catch up to Texas in progressiveness and equality?

Not that surprising really, yes Huston is in Texas, but Huston and its surrounding went for Obama in the last election. So did Dallas and Austin. If it had to happen to Texas, it makes sense it would occur there on one of the other island or blue in a see of red.

www.cnn.com

Actually, she did it in spite of the fact that she enjoys less equal rights and plenty of prejudice.

#13 | Posted by danni at 2009

the surprise in this is that most people are ignorant and biased and bigoted towards southern cities...

HOWEVER...again..if you saw her pic...well some of you who want to "WATCH" better look first

her ass is as big as a barn and she is ugly ...almost as ugly as her 'partner'.....
