Perhaps the greatest measure of Obama's declining support is that just 50% of voters now say they prefer having him as President to George W. Bush, with 44% saying they'd rather have his predecessor. Given the horrendous approval ratings Bush showed during his final term that's somewhat of a surprise and an indication that voters are increasingly placing the blame on Obama for the country's difficulties instead of giving him space because of the tough situation he inherited. The closeness in the Obama/Bush numbers also has implications for the 2010 elections.

This is fucking priceless. You'd think being the first Black President would be worth more than 6%!

Can you imagine the howling from the libtards at that point...

Latest NYT Poll Shows Obama Approval Plummeting By: Clay Waters December 10, 2009 12:32 ET

Oddly, the Times' story on the findings of the latest NYT-CBS News poll, by Adam Nagourney and Dalia Sussman, doesn't make the front page of Thursday's paper, but is instead buried on page 8 of the international section: "Poll Finds Support for Obama's Plan for Afghanistan Mixed With Skepticism."

Though this particular poll focuses heavily on questions specific to the war in Afghanistan, it also features the usual query on Obama's job approval -- a number that has plummeted since the last NYT-CBS News poll

So you felt compelled to post, eh?

But, but, but .... the Messiah still beats Bush!

Yaaaaaa! We're marginally more popular than someone who was awful!

At least they talk about someone relevant. You'll never hear anyone talking about Libertarian President Joe/Paul/Badnarik/Browne/Barr, etc.

People abuse polls like they'd enjoy abusing whores.

Can't see the future, of course, but I imagine if unemployment continues to decline and the surge in Afghanistan has some concrete effect, certain people will find all sorts of reasons to find them invalid.

Null&Void acknowledges that talking about Osama is not relevant

That's like saying they prefer getting punched in the stomach to being punched in the nose.

You still feel the pain.

Zed is absolutely right. I will always be skeptical of polls, even when they are favorable to the Republican Party.
