Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner plans to tell Congress that the Obama administration will extend the $700 billion financial-rescue program until next October, according to people familiar with the matter. The TARP, passed in October 2008 to prevent a collapse of the financial system, has drawn criticism from Congressional opponents of taxpayer-funded bailouts of banks including Citigroup Inc. The Obama administration, preparing the ground for an extension, has emphasized that the program may also be used to aid homeowners and small companies.

So why doesn't Mr. Obama do this?
Or, rather, why doesn't he have his Middle Class Czar,' Joe Biden do it?
Don't they care about their subjects?"

The Obama regime still has pay-offs to make.

Yeah, just give up your freedom, right to vote, hopes, dreams, and desires and you too can make more moeny like the people in China.

We all remember well the argument was already rejected to use the funds for homeowers. They hypothesized that the funds were better used on the banks who could get the funds out in loans. What happened? Remove Geitner and Bernanke now!

What happened to the recovery?

October 2010! Thats odd timing ... right about during midterm elections.

Right about the time troops will start coming home.

I really which people would stop playing political games with people's lives. It is not about which party is in control ... it is about which party is making the right choices. Currently the Dems are proving to be just as bad as the Reps.

Actually they are worse

They have some more senators to buy for the healthcare vote and acorn needs cash.

Actually they are worse

And that matters how? We are talking about the different degrees of abysmal failure. Even if you decide who is better or worse the results are still abysmal.

Komrade Brother Marxist.

Always wondered what the initials meant.

btw-every time the minimum wage is raised, you righties wet yourself. Why is it when China does it you are all excited? Hate America that much?

In every city in America the unemployment rates drop after a minimum wage is raised.* The reason this is true is that consumer spending is 70% of the economy. Spending goes up and businesses hire. All the while, rightie tighties claim the exact opposite is true.

Its all bullshit and its bad for you.

*ref: Galbraithe "The Predator State"

This country needs to have Bernanke, Geithner, and Summers fired. They have failed in their fiduciary responsibilities. The extension allows for the fact that its not over till its over. Their is yet more National Treasure to loot, more jobs to be offshored, more homes to be foreclosed, more cap and trade to invoke.

This is craziness. If it costs businesses more to produce the same products then why would they hire more individuals? Even assuming that the immediate effect is as you say, the long term effect of increased prices to counter the increased labor costs results in, at best, increased cost of living at exactly the same level that was before the minimum wage hike, and at worse a overall worsening of individuals demanding that minimum wage.

Your argument doesn't even pass the smell test.

All perfectly legal (wink, wink).

I heard Timmy today on the news. He was talking about all this money we've made on TARP. Well, yesterday I read we lost 60 billion from AIG and the auto bailout.

DIRTY SANCHEZ

I love the fact that Timmy couldn't figure out a simple tax form, but now is a fucking Authority as a high level accountant. Only in leftyville would you hire an idiot like this and let him speak in public.

Flag,

Its not a question of smell its just what Galbraith has measured.

Free Market Libertarian economics doesn't work. But the rich don't want anyone to know.

NUTCASE,

You can have your 'libertarian economics doesn't work.'

Here, we produce for a living. My neighbors produce things that are different from what I produce. We live off of each other. We are symbiotic as Montanans. We help each other.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing you can't look your neighbors in the eyes.

Continue your big government crusade, as will I.

Wurster,

Huh? I get along better with my mountain neighbors than my ex-wife. I'm in the letters to the editor of the November Scientific American. My across the Street neighbor paraded that to some of the others. I share my home grown tomatoes with all of them and am fortunate to live 1 block from a Unitarian Minister who deserves and gets the best my Garden has to offer. My neighors just can't help the fact that they harbor "Conservative" errors of thought, as do most Americans. Greenspan has admitted to Congress that for forty years he based his policies on Aynn Rand Libertarian Doctrine that is WRONG. He's very sorry but won't give any of his profits back. Those in charge continue to march to the drums that created our meltdown. Production is the root of all wealth, personal and national. What is it we disagree on?

Where's tanning hide and smoking fish? Mountain neighbors my ass.

Speaking of food, my ass needs sleep. Its cold as fuck out and the Pheasants are grouping. You know I can pay fifty dollars ofF my DUI fine by giving the court ten cans of non perishables? Merry Christmas to all my fellow Americans.

Scientific American....JOKES!

NOT A PROBLEM
last week the goddamn dems cut that 60 billion from medicare including nursing homes..remember people that old are nothing more than drains on the govt teet and they can be eliminated.

Hey, the Dems hold the stimulus money till the mid year elections to get re-elected, and the dumb asses out there re-elect them. It's totally dirty but expected.

TARP started out as "Cash for Crooks" and has evolved into the DNC re-election fund.
