Half a century ago, a sugar shortage helped bring down Pakistan's military regime. For the past four months, a similar shortage has led to skyrocketing prices and empty market shelves, sending consumers and officials into a panic.

There is no "shortage" of sugar.

It is being stolen and smuggled out of the country by pals of the Worm-Cockroach-President hybrid.

Anyway, Govts in India and in Pakistan have fallen when the price of onions spikes (Indo-Pak food is impossible without tons of onions).

The "sugar crisis" is a small thing. I have no problem any.

"Gur" (a sugar substitute) is also readily available by the ton.

But yes, the price of sugar has spiked, and like onions, this might kill the Govt.

That would not be a bad thing.

I have no problem any. = no problem getting any

Afghanistan and Iran are two agricultural-losers who are incapable of growing anything to feed themselves.

And India who was the 2nd largest sugar manufacturer in the world, has seen it's production fall to one-third last year since their Maoist rebellion or something picked up steam.

So India is running out.

Pakistan, being the world's 4th largest sugar producer (I think), is getting sugar smuggled out of it's borders in all directions for profits of billions of dollars for a few people.

Sugar prices inside Pak are fixed and low.

Outside, they are like ten time that.

So there is massive profit in smuggling.

And we know who is behind it. Mr.10%.

I remember years ago when they first put a 25 million bounty on bin Laden, they asked a guy in the border territories if he knew would he go for that.He said"if I did my life wouldn't be worth an onion"

I always thought that was a cool statement, thanks for reminding me about that, tosser. It gave me a smile.

He said"if I did my life wouldn't be worth an onion"

The onion is one of nature's most beautiful vegetables. Keeps one in good health too.

Check out Romanesco broccoli...

It looks much better than the rather appropriately named mushroom Phallus hadriani...

According to Wiki the production of sugarcane by Pakistan in 2008 was 54 million tonnes, the 4th largest in the world. And that is still not enough for 181 million people?

Not a gay bone in my body(no pun intended)but that was pretty impressive.
Hadrain's dick,hahaha

It's all being stolen, mate.

Pakistan is effectively feeding sugar to Iran, Afghanistan, India and those other losers who can't grow their own food... Dubai, Abu Dhabi, etc.

Smuggling is bringing massive profits to someone who should've been caught by now but isn't.

Why aren't these people being caught? Because the one doing the catching are the ones behind the crime. Simple. LOL

Food in Pakistan is still very cheap.

This is done by a massive network of Govt. owned supermarkets called "Utility Stores". Everything in there is sold at cheap Govt. fixed prices. (communism at work, LOL)

All other normal supermarkets and stores can't jack up the prices too much then because folks would just say "screw you, I'm going to get it from the Utility Store".

What has happened now is that there is plenty of sugar available... at international ... American... prices.

We have never paid international/American prices for our cheap food, and this pig (President Zardari) who is thought to be behind this, ought to have his hide tanned for this.

It sucks when the people at the highest levels of government are actually themselves criminals.

Yes, it does.

But we know who they are and their time is up.

A few months at the most.

Does the Mullah have a sweet tooth?

Shrek: Ogres are like onions.
Donkey: They stink?
Shrek: Yes. No.
Donkey: Oh, they make you cry.
Shrek: No.
Donkey: Oh, you leave em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs.
Shrek: NO. Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers.
[sighs]
Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions.

I read a very long time ago that sugar is only second to heroin in how quickly one becomes addicted to it...if it's true I do not know, but here in the south, sweet tea is the norm - three cups of sugar to a gallon of tea - it actually gloops out of the pitcher! Have always liked my tea unsweetened and strong.

Does the Mullah have a sweet tooth?

Oh yes! LOL

It's a very old joke. All mullahs have sweet tooths.

"Before every dawn when you yell your call to prayer from your mosque, you don't do it for Allah... you do it because your stomach is empty and you are hurtin' and you want your wife to get up and cook you some pudding!".. from Heer Ranjha (classic Punjabi literature).

Now here is a thought. Pack goodies with twice a much sugar as required and feed it to the enemy that way when they are done eating they are too tired to fight.

Larry

Pakistan is about to undergo another coup over sugar?

Close but no cigar.

Actually, it's all about sugary breakfast cereals.

Those guys are... (wait fer it) ...Coup coup fer Cocoa Puffs!

*bows*

Be Well.
