Consumer activist Ralph Nader said he's getting increasingly more requests to run for Senate in his native Connecticut against Sen. Chris Dodd (D.). "It really depends on what kind of momentum there is and how many people are willing to roll up their sleeves because I'm very accustomed to people saying 'run Ralph run' and then they drift away," he said.

Nader would only pull votes from a legitimate contender---I wonder if the powers to be are encouraging this in order to keep Dodd in power-- a split vote would be the only way of saving this lackey of the banking industry.

This is interesting because Peter Schiff is planning to run against Dodd on the Republican side if he gets through the primary.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Peter really got this whole economic situaion right---always interested on his take about the economy.

"run Ralph run" - he hears that in his old head but sadly nobody really means it. We need a new Ralph Nader 30 years old with more charisma than he ever had.

I swear,we are in a 1970's time warp. Carter on Steroids (Obama), an impotent foreign policy, a failing economy, limited opportunities for the unwashed masses as far as the elites can see, higher taxes on the horizon, the misery index resurrected, all the 60's retreads who are now in power making up regulations to control individual behavior and, Now, Ralph Nader, the biggest loser of all time wants to run for the Senate. Maybe he can roll into DC in an old, gas guzzling, fire exploding auto.

Lock him up, he's hearing voices---either old Ralphie is psychotic or has Alzheimer's.

Schiff may do very well, actually.
He's certainly brilliant in terms of economics, although I feel he may be too dogmatic.
In any case, I wonder if he'd pass the current Republican self-imposed litmus test.
That test may end up having more bark than bite, but maybe not.

Will his association with Ron Paul be help or hindrance?
Come to think of it, will his father be help or hindrance?

Matsop, I don't agree with your insinuation that Nader is not a legitimate contender. For the Presidency, he certainly isn't, but I could see him making a serious run for the Senate.
Granted, that all depends on the rest of the field.

"Ralph Nader, the biggest loser of all time..."

Hehe, I'm pretty sure George McGovern holds that particular title.

Anyone but Dodd -- EVEN Nader.

That Dude Needs Another Damned Ego Reboosting. Sighhhhhhhhhh oh well.

Larry

I've voted for Nader twice in the past, but people need to seriously get behind Schiff on this one!

Come to think of it, will his father be help or hindrance?

For those who don't know, Peter has a famous father, Irwin Schiff. Father was a well known tax protester who fought the IRS for who knows how long. Irwin finally went to jail. Among Irwin's publishing credits are "The Federal Mafia." Though Peter has nothing to do with his father's cause, I think it is fair to say that if he gets into Washington, he will make his father proud. A vote for Nadar is a vote to continue the criminal insanity that dominates Washington politics.

You guys are so 1970's with your politics.

1970's politics;

Powerful men pick two 'bought' guys, who are both w.a.s.p. but ultimately will do the same thing (because they are bought by the same people). Doesn't matter who wins.

2000's politics;

Powerful men pick two 'bought' guys, one who is anything but a w.a.s.p. , and one douchey wasp guy that no one would vote for under any circumstances (because he doesn't lie correctly). They know who is gonna win because they know the american public doesn't have a clue about politics or anything else requiring deep thought.

Have to agree LIPZ

Nader vs Dodd is Hoffman vs Dede Scozzafasdfadf.

Nader won't win but he will fuck shit up and help the party he disagrees with more.

Before I drift, let me say loud and clear, Run Ralph Run!

Dodd v. Nader.

Now that would be an exciting debate, asumng you didn't have any drying paint handy.

GO NADER

GONAD ER

You people know that most of Nader's financial support comes from Republicans, right?

Well one thing I've always admired about Nader is that he is beholden to no one and if he ever gets elected to anything he'll follow his conscience not orders from Wall St or Washington.

Too bad his conscience is in La-La Land though he's be a great addition to a think group or some governmental official's staff

Same with Lieberman. If there's a Republican who looks vulnerable, the Dems would fund an independent to the right/left of him to draw off moderate or conservative voters, depending on whether the sitting candidate is a godless RINO or GOPure (tm).

How about Nader V. Lou Dobbs?
