Iranian authorities have confiscated Nobel Peace laureate and human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi's medal -- a first in the history of the 108-year-old prize. Ebadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her efforts in promoting democracy, has long faced harassment from Iranian authorities for her activities.

Not to worry... A Nobel Prize isn't what it used to be...and it's getting worth even less every year. Next thing you know, they'll be giving them away based on speculative hyperbole....

Oh, wait....they're already doing that, aren't they?

A Nobel Prize isn't what it used to be...

Obama's peace prize may have been a joke, but Ebadi actually deserved it. The regime has been screwing with her for quite a long time. Sad.

Agreed. On both observations.

......sometimes a dictator is overthrown.......

.....and a worse dictator takes his place........

......the Shah is gone, the Mullahs are the new dictators......

......maybe the CIA should have left the democratically elected Prime Minister Mosaddegh(sp?) in place, instead of overthrowing him for the Shah.........

Jerks.

"Obama's peace prize may have been a joke, but Ebadi actually deserved it..."

Maybe Obama should give up his undeserved medal. Of course he should have declined months ago, when he found out he was somehow chosen.

What does this tell you when the big, tough, Iranian government feels so threatened by one citizen? To me it speaks volumes about the foundation upon which they have built their government.

Of course, of course. And further disgraced and degraded the prize. Oh, wait, Henry Kissinger received a Nobel? Well, can't go much lower than that.

"Of course, of course. And further disgraced and degraded the prize..."

The fact the committee chose an undeserving Obama, and his accepting the award pretty much kept it degraded, since Al Gore received his.

Nobel peace prize is a leftist political recognition and has been for 70 years. When they neglected Gandhi and refused to award 1n 1948 rather than give a true liberal the prize then anyone who accepted after that is as big of phoney as the prize itself. You can only win if you are a darling of European hard line socialism. Iran is only recognizing that Islamo-fascism and Europa-fascism are right now at odds.

The deniers or damnear everything may well try to break into the White House and seize Obama's medal. Yeah, it was a little premature, and yeah, he continues (escalates?) the killing of Muslim kids, but his name isn't George Bush, and that does merit a prize. herm

It's kind of like losing a Cracker Jack prize!

So many nails in the head!

So the mad ayatollahs are acting like Republicans? Surprise surprise....

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Islamic religious authorities have begun tightening their grip on Iranian public schools, a report said Wednesday, as hard-liners expand an ideological "soft war" against Western influence

Here we call them "charter schools".

Get Elected - Get a Noble!

For the sake of America's "Good Name" lets hope and pray that Henry Kissinger never, ever has his Nobel Peace Prize taken away from him! This would be both dire and calamatious,to say the least,to the national psyche!
Also the US Congress should pass a law that each and every single American President has to be awarded the "Noble Peace Prize"...or America will "Pre Empt" Sweden. The Noble Peace Prize then will also be awarded retroactively to every living President...except of course Jimmy Carter.

Herm,
"..yea it was a little premature.."

Ha ha haaaaaaaaaa... Best chuckle of the day so far. Thanks for that.

and Northguy,
"So the mad ayatollahs are acting like Republicans? Surprise surprise...."

Idiot.

JM

I read the headline and I had this image of a pissed off Kanye West in a turban.
