Every once in a while, a story comes along that makes you smile just a bit. Wild sort of twist, but very cool. Can't wait to see how this develops over the next several years.

Did I touch a nerve Tick? I've lived in cities, burbs, and the country. They all have their good and bad. A guy turning his life around and giving back to the community he screwed up is bad how? I just don't see what there is to be upset about. It's a good story, one we could use more of why try to tear it down, isn't there enough of that in the world today.

Yeah, it saddens me when people buy into crap. These little "feel good" stories are meaningless in comparison to long term trends. A lot of cities are basically so screwed up by URBAN AMERICANS that regular folks abandon them.

Kind of like one of our worthless politicians bragging about a 100 grand budget cut, when the national debt is UH UH, 12 trillion.

People like Parie Dedeaux could be helping to bring about the kind of renaissance that the inner cities of this country need. For some people it's obviously better to label this as a "feel good story" because it doesn't fit with their vision of a perfect world.

The action of taking control of this park back from the hoodlums who domineered it won't solve the entire problem of gangs across the country...it wasn't meant to. It was meant to solve the problems surrounding this park and it's facilities.

Yes look at the continent that was divided along arbitrary lines by the European colonists, who then set about creating further ethnic rivalries and set out to destroy traditional societal structures before dipping out and leaving the continent in shambles.

Or the housing projects, where the poorest and least educated of society were concentrated and then further segregated by a society that already discriminated against them, thereby worsening the poverty, crime, and ignorance.

You might not want to look at the Balkans, or most of eastern Europe for that matter. Or are they not "white" enough for you?
